I am a homeschooling mom of 2 wonderful little girls that are growing up so fast. They both are brighter than the sun itself. I have been married to my wonderful husband for 10 years. I did it right this time! I like to scrapbook, craft and sew when I can find the time. I enjoy life and finding new things to learn. I believe something has to be done to save our public schools. The system is broken, the kids are suffering.

  • I can not identify a spider I just found. We live in Missouri(SW), it is about the size of a large black ant..

the part the legs are attached to is orange, the abdomen is black with white horizontal stripes. The first 4 legs look black, the next two orange and the last set is striped, not sure if it is black and white or black and orange.... I am not about to get it out of the tupperware and look any closer at it either.

I have never seen anything like this one. I will add that we just returned from the NW part of the state from vacation and I also had visitors from New Jersey staying with me for about a week. Could it be a transplant?

    Thanks for any help.

  • Downloadable inventory lists?

I am going to start grocery shopping once a month. I am looking for a form that I can inventory my pantry, something that I can download and enter what I have on hand, so each month I can stream line what I need to buy according to what I have already used. I looked on the microsoft downloads site and didn't find anything. I am just trying not to have to spend my sunday making a spreadsheet.

    Thanks

  • Vomiting, abdominal pain, fluid around uterus, what could it be?

My neice is in the hospital and has the Drs baffled. She has been vomiting for a while, so much so the school required her to see a specialist on eating disorders, that is not what it is. She went to the ER a few weeks ago because of vomiting and abdominal pain. They found nothing and sent her home. A few days later she had her appendix taken out. Days after that she was back in the ER because of vomiting. They told her it was because she hadn't gone to the bathroom(#2) since the surgery and sent her home. The meds they gave her so she wouldn't throw up didn't stay down. The meds they gave her to make her go to the bathroom didn't stay down. She is now back in the hospital because of abdominal pain, she hasn't eaten since Thursday and the only thing they have found is fluid gathering around her uterus, the OB had no clue what it could be. She is not pregnant, they can not find any obstruction in her bowel, nothing. She has had a few ultrasounds and 2 CAT scans. Anyone ever deal with it

  • Using Word or Excel to address envelopes?

I have 50 envelopes to address, each with a different address. I want to make an address book/list on the computer and print the envelopes. Of course I am wanting to do this by just clicking 'print' and letting the priter do all the work, without having to click 'print' for each envelope. How can this be done?

  • Wouldn't school be more effective if kids were tested and placed in classes with academic peers?

I am just putting this out there, it was a thought I had. My daughters are homeschooled. One of the reasons we decided to HS was because my girls are well above the average student and would not fit into the public school setting. The district we live in has nothing to offer my girls at this point. This brought me to think about why we do not break down our classes according to academic level instead of age. I know age would have to factor as well, I do not want my 6 year old in with 12 year olds for obvious reasons. However, within a certain grade/age range why do we not devide our classes by ability? Would this not be a benefit? Woulnd't the kids that need the help be able to have better help, from a teacher with experience with learning issues? Wouldn't the kids that are 'gifted' be more challenged by a teacher that does not have to slow her pace to help those that are not 'getting it" Teachers would be able to tailor the education to the group more effectively, wouldn't they?

  • Donpotter.net, has anyone used the free online reading assesment?

    http://www.thephonicspage.org/On%20Reading/reading...

I found this earlier today and used the "wide range" test for my daughter. It was extremely simple and took just a few minutes. I know it is not a solid overview of her reading skills, but I was wondering if anyone else had ever used it to get a feel for what reading level their child was at.

  • Severe tooth pain, neck pain could it be TMJ?

I went to the dentist the other day because it feels like my entire lower right mouth is on fire with pain. My upper is flaring up as well. He took an Xray of one tooth and said he thought it was inflammed gums and to use Listerine and provided me with Tylenol 3. Well the Listerine makes my mouth feel better for about 2 minutes, and it feels WONDERUL to brush my teeth, but hurts again as soon as I am done. The tyleonl doesnt touch the pain. Now I am getting pain into my neck and just behind my ear. There is no popping or clicking. Could it be TMJ?

  • Inflammed gums, mouth pain?

I have been having mouth pain that hurts one entire side of my mouth. Advil and Orjel didn't touch the pain. Cold packs were helping for a bit, but then stopped. I started using a hot compress but it didn't help much either. I saw the dentist today and he says the teeth are fine and there are no abcesses. He thinks it could be inflammed gums. His suggestion was to rinse with Listerine a few times a day and that should take care of it in a few days. He also gave me Tylenol3 for the pain in the meantime.

Does this seem about right? Anyone else go through this? This seems like SO MUCH pain for a little inflammed tissue.
