I am trying to hook up my old windows vista laptop (with VGA output) to my new HD TV (with HDmi output) HELP?

I bought a special adaptor that runs VGA to HDMI because the Acer one netbook I am planning to use is over a year old and only has a VGA input not a HDMi - the TV is a brand new LUXOR LUX-40-914-TVB (was on offer in ASDA - cheap as chips lol)

I can get the tv to the right channel and have added the hdmi 2 channel but the laptop doesn't seem to want to play on there for more than a few seconds:( I have checked the resolution settings on the TV, the adaptor and adjusted the Netbook settings accordingly.

When I go into display settings and change the monitor to my TV - it says it needs to restart, then while restarting the loading screen is shown on my HDTV (no problem) however as soon as it finishes loading it completely disappears and I have to go into display settings all over again :(

What is wrong and what can I do about it??

I am not sure if I need to download a driver of some kind??

I want to be able to watch streaming movies and tv channels but most of the instructions online assume that you have windows 7 media centre - is there a freeware patch that will do the same job and if so what one is best??

I am desparately looking for information about where I can get my daughter's Nintendo ds repaired, cheaply and locally if possible (South Wales UK).

I have been trying to contact Nintendo since Xmas day when my daughter put a game in upside down (causing damage to the game port obviously) No games will load but other than that it apears to work fine.

As Nintendo can't even respond to an e-mail or answer a phone, I was hoping that someone on answers might know of a place to get sensibly priced repairs?

I have been looking for a free download in order to clean my registery.

But keep finding one's where the initial scan is free but the cleaning is then charged for.

Are there any that are completely free? If so where can I get my hands on one?

Are you doing it? How many Fragment codes do you have? Can you give me some codes? Have you found any Glyphs?

The whole thing is starting to feel like hard work, it's only a TV show, and I live too far from the nearest 'Forbidden Planet' to pick up the 'Appollo Bar. Have you got yours? Was there a code etc?

Does the dirt come away with the steam? or rise to the top so you can wipe it off? or does it disovle? does it just force the dirt deeper into the sofa/carpet where it rots and smells but can't be seen?

After putting my literature question up I found the motivation to complete the assignment, and am hoping that some ideas on this subject will be just what I need to 'get the ball rolling'.

I have been trying to meet new people to chat to online. I like the idea of finding out about how people from other country's live thier day-to-day lives. How ever I have lost track of the amount of people who ask 'R u 16?' why is it so important to know if I'm over the legal age for consentual sex? And when I look at these people's web pages - oh my god! Large ladies with thier breasts out, old men naked - it just isn't right!! Why is it so scary out there in cyberspace??

I have tried de-fragging, anti-virus checks, antispy ware and anti-ad. I even tried downloading 'ccleaner' after reading advice given to someone with similar problems.

My start up is particularly slow and alsways comes up with a black screen saying "initalising error. Re-booting from windows (:/c)" or something similar (don't quote me!). What does this mean and what can I do about it - I don't have a windows xp disc as the computer is second hand.

When I look up referance material on-line, it all seems to come from different versions of the text. And then it's murder to find in my copy in order to referance at the end of my essay. Should I stop researching online? Any tips?
