Trying to install Kindle for PC; not working. Help?
Whenever I run the install program for the Kindle reader for PC, I get the message "Kindle for PC is already open. Would you like to close it and continue?". If you click yes, nothing happens, and if you click no, nothing happens. I tried booting into safe mode, to see if that helped, but no, it didn't.
2 AnswersSoftware1 decade agoIf your high blood pressure is controlled by meds, would say you don't have it?
Say you have high blood pressure, but your medication (whatever it is) keeps it under control. If a doctor (any doctor you're seeing for a health issue) asks if you have HBP, do you say:
Yes, controlled by medication
No, I don't have HBP (as your blood pressure isn't high, because of the meds you're taking for it)
2 AnswersHeart Diseases1 decade agoPlease help with XP boot-up.?
When I boot up XP, it says 'Windows shut down unexpectedly - please choose what you would like to do: Safe mode, Last known good copy, or start XP normally'. However, when you choose one, it freezes. Could it be a virus? I didn't insist my mom install an anti-virus program as soon as I should have. :-(
4 AnswersOther - Computers1 decade agoThe point of a dual degree?
I've been looking over websites for Medical School. Some of them offer dual degrees, where you can go to Medical school, as well as Divinity school.
Don't get me wrong - Anybody who can successfully complete a dual degree gets kudos for their very hard work - but where in Theology, would you need such indepth medical knowledge that would make it worth the four intense years of Medical school? In other words - are there no other easier options to get the medical knowledge you need for your job, such as part time courses at a college or independant reading? Or on the flip side - where in Medicine would you need such indepth theological knowledge as offered by an M.Div, where independant reading/part time courses wouldn't suffice?
Enough people go for it to make it a viable option for it to be offered.. I am just curious as to the motivations of those who enroll; what benefit they get from it, as opposed to just choosing one, and taking some courses in the other.

When I run spybot - search and destroy, it hangs just after completing the scan. 'Not responding' is the error message. What could be causing it? Is there any spyware that disables SpyBot?
4 AnswersSoftware1 decade agoHelp me find this song, please?
I heard this song on the radio at work, but I don't know the name or the artist. All I know is the following:
Fairly recent song
Female vocalist, by herself (maybe backing vocals - not sure)
Slower ballad, not peppy and energetic like Stefani's 'Hollaback Girl' is.
The chorus: I remember lines like 'Don't let... give up', and a line about not forgetting your dreams, or something like that.
I know it's pretty vague, but I did try.

I live near Vancouver BC, and would really like to find out where I can find powdered palm sugar. It would make my working day so much easier. Local shops are best, or mail order that ships to canada would do as well.
3 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoCapital gains tax question?
I bought a condo in September 2007, for $157000. Closing costs were $2500. If I were to sell it in 2008 (say for $178000; educated guessitimate based on similar units) how would you calculate the capital gains tax I would have to pay? I don't think I qualify for personal residence exemption, because I've never actually lived there - my brother and his wife have been paying me rent ($600/month) to live there, since Feb 2008. It's in BC, if relevant.
5 AnswersCanada1 decade agoIs Al-gebra infiltrating us?
Today, at New York's Kennedy airport, an individual, who was later discovered to be a public school teacher, was arrested trying to board a flight while in possession of a ruler, protractor, square, slide rule and calculator.
The Attorney General believes the man is a member of the notorious Al-gebra movement. He is being charged with carrying weapons of Math Instruction. "Al-gebra is a very fearsome cult, indeed", the Attorney General said. "They desire average solutions by means and extremes, and sometimes go off on a tangent, in search of absolute value. They consist of shadowy figures, with names like 'x' and 'y', and, although they are frequently called 'unknowns'm we know they really belong to a common denominator and are part of the axis of medieval with coordinates in every country.
"As the great Greek philosopher Isosceles used to say, there are three sides to every triangle." When asked to comment on the arrest, President Bush said "If God had wanted us to have better weapons of math instruction, He would have given us more fingers and toes."

15 AnswersDogs1 decade agoHelp finding a Sunday Times article?
Back when the new James Bond movie was released earlier this fall, there was an article in the Sunday Times Travel supplement. It was all about how to live like James Bond - where to get a good martini, learn baccarat and etc. It also mentioned a company that ran a course that taught you about spying, and espionage. Does anybody know what company it was? I threw the paper out by accident.
