3 AnswersHomework Help5 years agoTrying to find a TV show where this quote is from?
I can't remember the specific episode. I want to say the show was Criminal Minds but I'm not too sure.
I don't remember the exact quote, but it involved someone saying that they did college work/completed their education "in Cambridge and New Haven."
Someone else analyzing those words sort of scoffs as the person who said it is clearly trying to be "modest" when they say that they went to college at Harvard and Yale.
Thanks
2 AnswersQuotations6 years agoShould I choose "A Clockwork Orange" as my English assignment choice novel?
For the summer, my upcoming English class was assigned two novels. One novel was chosen by the school (if you're wondering, they chose The Martian Chronicles) and the other novel is free choice, as in you can choose what novel to read. Of course said novel has to be fairly popular, preferably a classic, but there's a good amount of leverage.
For the second book, I want to read A Clockwork Orange. I loved the film, I'd heard such great things about the book, and notorious books are pretty alluring.
*But* here's the thing. The assignment makes it clear that we won't have a written test or multiple choice or quiz or something along those lines for the second novel. *However*, there will most likely be some kind of essay or presentation the student/I will have to create.
My biggest worry here with choosing ACO is that I’ll have a difficult time articulating the language in a way that defends any possible argument I’d have to make for the novel, through presentation/essay/etc. The author Anthony Burgess is well known for having created basically an entire new language/dictionary of slang for the book.
Basically, do you think the slang of the book will be too much of a burden for me? Or would I be able to explain and interpret parts of the book? Will I be able to pull quotes to help defend arguments?
Thanks.

3 AnswersPolitics6 years agoWhat subjects are colleges particularly fond of?
Obviously they're interested in everything together, but just if you had to be specific.
My problem is that I have four honors classes I am qualified for, but my school only allows three honors classes per year.
The subjects are world history, math, science, and english.
The teachers always say to go for the subjects you're passionate about, but as a freshman I haven't really developed anything I'd deem a "passion." I have nothing against any of those subjects either; they all pose the same pros and cons from where I stand. So, I figured I'd go for the subjects that would look prettier, for lack of a better term, on my college application.
I guess the more proper/easier question would really be: out of those four subjects, which one is not worth pursuing when it comes to college impressions?
Sorry if this came off as pretentious or anything. I'm just very cautious when it comes to future matters like college.
Thanks
2 AnswersHigher Education (University +)6 years agoI don't get a Mad Men reference?
In season 2 episode 6, Peggy asks a couple of the men who she would best be described as: Marilyn Monroe or Jackie Kennedy.
One of them, Ken, replies with Gertrude Stein. The rest of the men laugh.
I don't get the reference or how it's funny to them. I researched who Gertrude was and it said she was a talented poet/writer, something along those lines. I don't see how that could be comical or insulting or anything like that.
Anyone care to explain?
1 AnswerDrama6 years agoJake Bugg: Cross between The Beatles and Oasis?
Always thought that, although whenever I watch him perform he reminds me completely of The Beatles. But then he also has that sort of wave in his voice that reminds me of Oasis, kind of whiny but in a good way if that makes sense.
Anyone else agree? Does he remind you of anyone else, or is he his own kind of vibe and sound to you?
4 AnswersRock and Pop7 years agoGoing to The 1975 concert, tips on how to meet the members?
Going to their concert for the first time. I've heard from some people that it's generally pretty easy to meet/find them. Anyone have tips on where to go and when to go there to have a better chance of meeting or at least seeing them? The venue is pretty small, general admission.
