  • Well, I...?

I...mmanuel Kant was a real p*ssant who was very rarely stable.

Heidegger, Heidegger was a boozy beggar who could think you under the table.

David Hume could out-consume Schopenhauer and Hegel.

And Wittgenstein was a beery swine who was just as schloshed as Schlegel!

There's nothin' Neitzche couldn't teach ya 'bout the raising of the wrist. Socrates himself was permanently p*ssed...

John Stuart Mill, of his own free will, on half a pint of shandy was particularly ill. Plato, they say, could stick it away-- Half a crate of whiskey every day. Aristotle, Aristotle was a b*gger for the bottle. Hobbes was fond of his dram... And Rene Descartes was a drunken fart... "I drink, therefore I am!"

Yes, Socrates himself is particularly missed...

    A lovely little thinker, but a b*gger when he's p*ssed!

I have been tempted to post this under Philsophy for so long. I figured only those who surf that category would appreciate it. Hopefully you people have a sense of humor. ;)

    Was it funny?

  • Have you seen Eragon?

I've just been to see Eragon. I've read both books (which are infinitely better in my opinion, though most books are) and thought it was a good story. The movie, though, I have a few complaints about. They skipped the small detail that Arya is an elf. Totally skipped it. So as Brom is laying there dying, and Eragon tries to heal him but can't, my immediate thought was, "Arya's an elf and can do magic even some Riders can't do, so she could save him." Though I knew he was going to die, because he did in the book. Another thing, near the end, Saphira gets injured and Eragon says a line like, "Whatever strength I have in me, take it." Umm...NO! Don't do that! If she did, he would die, and a dragon cannot live without its Rider, so they would both die! But aside from all that, my biggest complaint I suppose would be the costuming. Half the characters were running around in shiny leather, which would not be available to farmers, and no elves would even consider it. So what did others think?

  • Help with Jabberwocky?

I have already memorized Jabberwocky (well, mostly, anyway), but I am not sure what Lewis Carroll meant by some of the lines. I know the poem has quite a few portmanteaus, and I understand the first few lines, but some of the words I'd like to know what mean, such as "O frabjous day!" or "frumious Bandersnatch."

  • Ever noticed mistakes in captioning?

Sometimes you have to ask yourself what these captioning people are thinking. For instance, sometimes it will be a grammatical mistake, like (Jamie Lee Curtis, House Arrest) "I know these people are your hostages, but they are also guests in *hour* home." But there are a few rare occasions where the sentences make no sense whatsoever, such as (The Pacifier, in the production of The Sound of Music) "Climb every mountain... Ford every tree..."

So, have you ever noticed a big mistake that made you say, "What?!"

  • Can you place this quote?

"Well, of course you don't know. If you knew and I didn't know, then you'd be teaching me instead of me teaching you. And for a student to teach his teacher is presumptuous and rude. Do I make myself clear?"

    (Hint) A well-known movie from the 70s.

  • Series of Unfortunate Events?

Okay, then. Has anyone else out there actually read the whole series, and did you make any sense out of the ending? If so, I'd love to hear it. I just finished The End, and it didn't answer a single question. Who are the V.F.D? Why were they founded in the first place? What was so important about the sugar bowl? Did the Quagmires and Fiona survive the wreckage? What the heck was up with Olaf and Kit? Where are the Baudelaire's going now? What in the world will happen to Beatrice (Snicket, I mean)? Where are Esme and Carmelita? Are they just more of those characters who disappear, never to be heard from again?

Am I thinking too hard? Maybe this series is just supposed to be a book to read, to pass time, or maybe it's not supposed to make sense. I really don't know. But I must say I'm more than a bit irked the story ended with so many unfulfilled questions.

  • What is the most stupid line from a song?

Right now, all I can think of is, "The girl next door is not the girl next door." Written by Drake Bell, I think.

  • Your opinion on these movies?

Okay, I haven't been to the movies lately, and I was just wondering who thinks what about what. For instance, what are your views on the following films? Cars. Flushed Away. Little Miss Sunshine. Borat. Barnyard: the Original Party Animals. Monster House. Open Season. Santa Clause 3, the Escape Clause (I like the way they did Martin Short's icy makeup). Just for starters. And if you could suggest your latest favorite theater viewing, I'd appreciate it.

  • Theory of Eragon/Eldest?

I have previously posted this theory in answer to moonlightNY. This is what I believe Christopher Paolini is working up to, a great twist that fits perfectly into everything stated so far. If you wish to wait until the release of the final book in the trilogy, then please do not read this.

In the final chapters of Eldest, Murtagh reveals himself to be related to Eragon. He tells of his mother, Selena, who is Eragon's mother as well. And he takes the sword Zar'roc, saying the firstborn of Morzan should recieve it as inheritance. I would like to rebut this, because I firmly believe Brom to be Eragon's father. When Brom and Eragon left Teirm, Brom mentioned knowing Selena "well enough to miss her when she was gone." Also, near the end, the witch Angela tells of a love Brom held for one woman, but it was his affection that was her undoing. Selena could be that woman. Then, as a reread Eldest, I noticed small clues of similarity between Brom and Eragon. Such as Oromis saying...
