My pal is an ex trawlerman and tells me of eating "onion Duff",( which he describes as some sort of giant rolly polly steamed pud,)in his fishing days.They used to cut slabs of it to eat with their dinners.He says modern cooks have forgotten how to make it and hasn,t had a good duff for years!!!.Any old trawler cooks out their can tell me how to make it please.?It seems to be the staple food of the fishing fleet along with a big pan of shackles!

One of my sons christian names is Walker.He is named after a succesion of Grandads.Family legend has it that the original Walker was a winning race horse, after a winning flutter ,a long ago grandad named his new child in its honour!Does anyone know anything of this horse, we have searched, and searched, but can find no official records of it..We are from NW England and perhaps it was a local race.

In A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens ,Scrooge leans from his window on Christmas Morning,after his spooky night, and shouts in delight.A passing urchin shouts back "walk er".Long ago I was told this meant incedible/amazing.I can find no reference to this in any of my dictionaries----can anyone throw light on this.I can imagine a race horse called incredible and so is my son!

The other half has had an accident, resulting in a severe blow to his coccyx.He has been told it may be fractured, but that the only treatment is pain killers, and to try and keep going on as usual.Has anyone any experience of this.?How long is the pain likely to go on for.?Are there likely to be any long term problems ---bearing in mind he's 63 and doesn't recover from things with quite the speed he used to?

I am being treated with serc8 for vertigo.The advice note along with this medication states that it is used in the treatment of menieres.Have any of you experience of this condition?Please will you let me know your symptoms and how long do the episodes last? I have read that there may be triggers-----has anyone found this to be relevent.I would really appreciate any information.After 2 weeks of nausea buzzing vertigo and the feeling my head is about to burst I am feeling a bit better but am still very dizzy.
