  • Alcoholism or Binge Drinking Addiction?

I'm looking for a better name and/or a treatment option for my drinking disorder.

I can go weeks or months without drinking. When I do, I can drink one or two or four and be completely content.

What I'm trying to prevent is when I go further than that. Its when I cross a line and am having fun and why would I want to stop having fun. Its the just one more beer mindset.

Once we get into this mindset, we make bad decisions.

Is there a name for this condition?

I love the feeling of having a single beer at the end of the day and reflecting on the events of that day. I don't need more than that. Quitting entirely really doesn't appeal to me, since I really love beer. But I don't need to get stupid and get into trouble.

Anyone have any suggestions for a quit-excessive drinking plan?

  • Cordless Headset Phone suggestions?

I'm looking for suggestions for an IP phone.

Really what we want, the client want wireless headsets, and they don't care what phone they have. All wireless headsets come with a lifter to take the phone off the hook. They don't want that.

Is there any phones that offer an integration with a wireless headset? So that you press a button on the headset and it'll answer a call?

  • My Stove won't light?

We cleaned the heck out of our stove. Soaked it in foam, scrubbed hard. When done, there was a little powdery residue. We cleaned that and it is no longer visible.

But the stove still won't light.

When in LITE mode, I see bright electric arcs from the starter. Gas is coming out. But it won't catch. I can light the stove with a match.

    Any ideas?

  • Question for Insurance Claims Adjusters?

A person hit my car in a parking lot. Did a lot of bumper and liftgate damage to a brand new car. We file a claim with their insurance.

The Estimate provided specifies a Remanufactured/Refurbished bumper. They claim that this is an "Acceptable Repair" based on the insurance commission and "Everything they are guidlined by."

The cars a new Subaru Outback with less than 10k miles on it. I don't want a refurb. Do I have options to force them to change this to new?

What am I dealing with, does he make any commission on this decision?

  • Curious question for Jews and Muslims.?

    ..from a Christian.

Our three religions share the book of Genesis as the story of creation. A lot of christians in america try block teaching of Evolution, Geology, Astronomy, because they feel it derodes the bible and their religion.

How do the leaders of your religion respond to science?

    Thanks for your answers.

  • Discuss: what free antivirus do you trust/not trust?

    Just curious.

I use malwarebytes pretty regularily on infected computers.

I just had a bad experience with STOPzilla, it was the recommended anti-spyware for the virus I was trying to get rid of, you download it, run the whole system scan, then it won't remove the virus unless you send over $24.

It got me thinking about how we know we can trust a product, now that there are so many free choices.

  • Amperage in a DC circuit?

Buying a replacement power supply for an electronic device. The old supply was 9 volts, 3.5 amps. This one is 9 volts, 3 amps. The device says it only needs 2.5 amps.

This'll be fine, right? Too high of would burn out a device, I'm sure, but I think with amps it only draws as much as it needs.

    Right?

  • Hit and Run in Minnesota?

AKA leaving the scene of an accident.

So, in a parking lot, someone backed into our new car and caused $2000+ worth of damage to it. Then they left. Fortunately someone in the parking lot wrote down their license plate and found us.

They found her, gave her a ticket, gave us her insurance info. So we're fine.

My question is, what happens to her? And do I have the ability/right to find out? We looked up the statute and found the maximum fine is $3000 and suspended license. Is that what she's going to get?

    Thanks!

  • Linux installation help?

    Here's the problem.

I'm trying to install Fedora Core 12 on a HP Proliant server, with a RAID setup. My install disk doens't recognize the storage. I have a driver, but only on a USB key or a CD. There is no floppy disk on the system.

I've tried the command linux install dd, which asks me if I have drivers, but the only option for me is to find the drivers on the floppy. Is there a way to add the CD or USB to these options?

  • Ethereal Filter Syntax?

Launching Ethereal from a command line, I use the command:

tethereal host [ip address] -w [filename.pcap]

This works well in only capturing traffic from that IP address, but I've never found this language documented. I'm trying to filter traffic based on UDP port. What is the language for that?

I think there's a --filter command, involving udp.port, but that seems to capture all traffic, but filter the view. I'm going to be capturing for 30 minutes, and I want everything thats not on port 5060 gone.

  • Windows Network - GPUpdate?

    Here's a question I've never figured out.

I've just made changes to a Group Policy on my domain controller. I want those changes to take effect on all computers immediately. So I use the gpupdate command.

Do I run it from the domain controller? or from the client?

If from the DC, how does this push the change to clients?

    Thanks!
