  • Is it normal for a portable air con unit to make a dripping sound?

We have a portable air conditioner that plugs in at the wall. It's working absolutely fine, but today when I turned it off it was making a dripping sound. I can peer into the suction and hot air blower tubes to see inside most of the unit, and can't see any water, it's not leaking onto the floor or anything either, but it's never made this sound before so I was wondering whether I need to investigate further or if this is just normal?

  • Why wont itunes let me burn a disc?

I just bought a new car with a 6cd changer and want to burn my own playlists to listen to. I tried to burn to a disc but it keeps saying I'm not authorised to do so. None of them were purchased from the itunes store, they were from cds, and some of them are from cds that I've had for about ten years so its not some weird copyright protection. I tried burning with CDBurnerxp and some of the songs won't copy into the playlist but it doesn't bring up an error message, just won't let me drag and drop them. All the songs play fine in itunes so I just have no idea what the problem is!

  • My itunes is driving me insane, please help?

This morning my itunes was working fine, all my music is on an external hard drive but the program itself is installed onto my c drive (its always been like this and always worked)

But I had a few mp3s on my c drive so decided to move them with the rest of the music on itunes into my external, I did this by changing the settings in itunes to 'copy files to music folder' and then adding the files to itunes so that a copy would be made on my external hard drive. It was all fine, and then I changed a couple of other settings, the sound volume etc to be on. Then i went out for half an hour, came back, and it was 'determing gapless playback information', it was 5 songs away from finishing, out of thousands, and it had crashed. My external hard drive was making a funny noise, so I opened task manager and closed the program. But then, everytime I tried to reopen the program, it would try to determine gapless playback again, and then crash.

I googled it, and someone suggested highlighting all tracks and setting to 'gapless album: no' which I did, and now it doesnt seem to be trying to do that anymore, but it was still crashing. So I uninstalled and reinstalled itunes, also scanned my external for any errors, it found none.

Now, as soon as I open itunes, if my external is plugged in, it crashes within like 1 second of opening. Doesn't tell me its crashed, just freezes the program completely. If my external is NOT plugged in, it runs fine, but obviously all my music is on the external, and the second I plug it back in, it crashes. My external seems to be running fine, unless itunes is open.

What the hell is wrong with it??

Please help, its been driving me insane for 2 hours now!!!!!

  • Can anyone explain what my psychology essay question means?

It's in my psychology module called 'the developing child' and I have to write 3000 words. The question is:

Young people's development is best understood as the development of identities in context. With reference to three areas of study covered in this module, critically evaluate this claim.

Basically, I just don't get what it meants by the development of identities in context. Can someone explain this to me please????

  • What should I wear for my training day?

I've got a training day tomorrow for a temp job as an exam invigilator in a secondary school. It's only for a couple of hours in the morning and I just don't know what to wear! I don't know yet if I'm required to wear smart clothes when I'm invigilating, but the kids at this school wear uniform, so I'm guessing that I'll have to wear smart/casual clothes. I have a black high waisted pencil skirt and a plain white v neck top that I'm thinking of wearing, as the woman warned me that the room you train in gets very hot, but I'm worried I'll be dressed too smart. I also cant decide whether to wear court shoes or flats, as I've been asked that when I'm actually doing the job, I must wear shoes that do not make noise, so I wont be wearing heels at work (so as not to disturb the students). Any advice?

  • SPSS Repeated measures ANOVA - P Value is 1.0 - how can that be??

I'm doing my psychology dissertation and I'm stuck on SPSS. I asked a bunch o people about bullying behaviour they observed in school. I've ended up with 6 variables, with 3 factors being gender of bully, gender of recipient, and 3 types of bullying (physical, verbal or indirect). I added up physical types of bullying in a multiple choice questionnaire to get the physical variable, added up verbal etc etc. But there were 5 types of physical, 3 verbal and 3 indirect. So my tutor said to convert them to Z scores, and then use those scores to do a within participants ANOVA, which I have done.

The thing is, in all conditions, SPSS reckons my p value is 1.0. How can that be??? Surely that would mean that all my conditions are exactly equal but thats not possible! To test it, I did another repeated measures ANOVA not using the z scores, but just testing gender of recipient and victim, only using one type of bullying (physical), and it found this to be significant.

Sorry I know this is a bit confusing. I guess my question is, what does it mean if SPSS says that p value is 1.0??

  • Where is the power steering fluid in a citroen c2?

  • The power steering in my citroen c2 has just failed and i know absolutely nothing about cars!!!help!?

Hi, I have a citroen c2, and I drove it this morning and it was fine. I parked fine, but when I returned half an hour later, the power steering had failed. I've driven the car twice since then (this was only this morning) and it has not returned. The weather at the moment is terrible, lots of ice and snow, and its been snowy and freezing for a week so until yesterday I hadn't driven the car in 7/8 days. I dont know if maybe the cold weather could be a factor in this? I looked in the owners handbook and couldnt find anything :(

It has an electronic display on the dashboard, but theres no warning lights on at all, nothing to indicate a problem. So what do I do to fix it? I dont wana take it to a garage to get ripped off if I can help it. I know nothing about cars but im pretty smart so if its something simple I'm sure I can have a go myself.

  • Is the nuclear family the best context in which to raise children?

Do you think the nuclear family is the optimum context in which to raise children? What about same sex couples? Surely that would be better than a single parent family or a family where the parents argue? Your opinions please

  • Spiritually Speaking... would this cause the end of the world?

Ok, so let's imagine in the middle of the night I go to every house (just like santa) and steal everyone's shoes. They get up in the morning to go to work, and they have no shoes, it would be utter chaos. You can't commute with one shoe...

  • Hahaha, girl in magazine says she sleeps with ghosts!?

Was just reading More magazine (womens UK magazine) and there was an article about a girl who says she is regularly visited by a ghost who 'pleasures her inside and out until she experiences multiple orgasms'. She said she hasn't told anyone but her best friend because people wouldnt understand (although shes just printed it in a magazine with a biiig photo of her...). So do you think she's crazy? Lying? Tellin the truth? Mistaking something else for a ghost? What's going on here??

  • Christians - your stance on gender reassignment surgery?

I've seen a few questions this evening regarding gay marriage and homosexuality, but I was wondering, what do you guys think about gender reassignment surgery? If someone is born a man, and decides to become a woman, do you think it is a sin for that person to then marry and have sex with a man? Or would you see this person as a woman and therefore allowed to marry a man? I was just wondering, because obviously that sort of thing didnt happen in biblical times so it's not like you can just look in your bible and find out.

  • Anyone see on the news what the atheists are up to in London?

I was watching the news at work yesterday and apparently a group of atheists in london have paid money to have adverts on the side of london buses saying stuff like 'god probably doesnt exist' and 'stop worrying and live your life'. I'm an atheist, but one of the things I like about most atheists is that they DONT preach their beliefs (or lack of them) to others. Now it seems they've stooped as low as some religions do in trying to 'convert' people through advertisement. what a waste of money!! your opinions pls?

  • Even if he did return, would you believe it?

I've seen a few of you christians mentioning jesus returning to earth in physical form, but what would it actually take for you to believe that the guy was genuinely the son of god? Would it have to be another 'virgin birth'? Would he have to perform miracles? If so, what kind?

Because I'm guessing that if some guy was claiming to be the son of god, and performed a few magic tricks, that wouldnt be enough, so what IS enough?

And would he have to be in the same physical body as he was in when described in the bible? (except maybe without a beard coz we have razors now!) Or would he be a different race? Different gender maybe??

  • How STUPID can some people be?

I'm a person who believes everyone has a choice when it comes to abortion. I personally could never have one, I'd feel guilty, but I won't judge those who choose to have an abortion as I realise that some people could handle having a baby, and others just couldnt. That's fine by me. I expressed this opinion earlier in regards to another users question. They were talking about this new australian law saying you can have an abortion up to 24 weeks, and I said I think thats too late because my boyfriends sister had her baby at 26 weeks and he was fine.

Since then, I've received several messages from a particular user, sending me to this site:

    http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-2TjBrmQlabMmkPXFrSm...

I didnt read it fully but explained my opinion on the matter and told them I respect their opinion, but disagree. This was the reply I got:

The information shows with mathematical proof that if you save the fetus at 24 weeks, you will cause the death of other children. So any woman that does not "want" her child regardless of age is actually saving more life than she is taking. -- a nobel thing-- and unselfish. A person wishing to force the birth of an unwanted child is causing the death of other children. ---an evil act---

The other link proves that every time a woman chooses to have sex, she is consenting to abortion.

These are very important facts that you should be aware of.

I hope you will read and learn; and that I have been of some help. Otherwise I will have failed and children will die needlessly.

    _______

I then replied saying that the article doesnt make sense. In one bullet point it says 70% of all conceptions end in natural miscarriage or abortion (this is true)

The next bullet point says 70% of all conceptions end in abortion. I then stopped reading. My next reply was:

Natural facts are funny. You can agree that an apple falls under the force of gravity, or not believe. However, the fact remains, it does fall. And you can believe that if you have sex you have some "choice" to have or not have an abortion. But the Natural law and the facts prove that if you have sex, you will have an abortion. It is simply an unavoidable fact.

It does not mean you are evil, or you intended to murder a child, it simply means that you will have an abortion if you have sex --in a normal manner.

And the page is not wrong. Miscarriage and abortion are one and the same, so the 70% figure is correct.

Only fools believe that an apple will not fall to the ground under natural law---- the same fools can believe that they never consent to abortion. But both fools will be looked down upon by those of us that know God's laws and His physical universe.

    ______

Is this, or is this not, the most ridiculous thing you have ever heard? Apparently if me and two others choose to have sex, and we all conceive and keep our babies, we are CAUSING the death of 7 babies. Does this person understand how statistics work? It's not just me, is it, this person is actually insane.

  • Why is it always Mary?

When people claim to have visions or religious experiences, why is it always the virgin mary or jesus or angels that they see? And not moses or adam or eve or noah? Reminds me a bit of how people who claim to have been abducted by aliens always say they were little green men with big heads and bug eyes.

Do these people actually see these things? Or are they just following the herd?
