  • Do pregnant dogs get diarhea as well as sick stomachs?

My vet says that my lhasa who is pregnant is going to be prone to nausea because it is in the breed. Does this also mean that an instance of diarrhea can be expected?

No lectures on getting her fixed please - this was a planned pregnancy and she will be spayed after.

  • What can I do to help a talking cat?

I know that cats communicate. They let you know when food is gone, water is gone, litter needs cleaned, etc.

This is WAY beyond communication. I have a cat that will use a combination of sounds in constant but not repetitive communication. He prefers to talk to his daddy, my Master. And when he's gone, the cat will talk to whoever talks back to him.

I don't mind it. I think its adorable. It wakes me up at 4am and annoys me at times but now that I converse back to him its not so bad.

Am I wrong to encourage this? Is there anything that I can do to get him to develop this into a more standard form of communication? No he can't make intelligible words out of his meows but he can teach me the general idea of what he is trying to convey and vice versa.

I know this is a stretch but I had to ask - only serious answers please.

  • Is your cat allergic to plaque?

When I first took my kitten to the vet, I found out that he had a horrible infection in his gums - something I didn't know was possible. He is allergic to plaque. It is bad enough that he had to have his major teeth pulled and now only has his front teeth.

The vet said today that the problem is still there but as long as he is playful and eats well there is not much to be concerned about and not much else we can do.

Has anyone ever heard of this? How would you suggest dealing with it? He wont let me brush his teeth

  • How would you combine the traditional hand fasting, jewish wedding, and collaring ceremonies?

Have you ever gone to a wedding ceremony that was a mixture of multiple culture traditions? What do you remember about it? I am looking for an every day opinion please. I want to know the ideas of everyone. Not just those who are wiccan, jewish, or slave minded.

    Please, anyone with experience

  • Why are purebred or pedigree dogs worth hundreds?

I need some help understanding. I have always had mutts. I would never consider paying a months rent or MORE for a dog. There is so much to pay for via medical care and such for the pets - why pay for the pets themselves. Plus there are so many inexpensive and free ones available. I just don't get it.

So, can someone please explain why we should continue this ? Maybe, if we fight hard enough, we can either get mixed breeds include in upper class society LMAO or we can put dog and cat sales out of business.

  • Would you agree to having your pregnant animal's fetuses aborted?

You know this ranks right up there with just euthanizing all strays. Why would I stop the birth of puppies? Do you know what kind of havoc that wreaks on a dogs mind and body? Of course not. They cant give consent and they cant understand. Why don't we also insist that all girls under the age of 18 be forced to have abortions??

Oh, difference between dogs and humans you say. Humans have more value? Are humans worth more intrinsically? Go ahead, one side of the fence or the other - which one do you choose?

Too many animals as it is you say? There are too many children! How many children are raised in a foster system that doesn't work? How many are on the streets because they have no where to go? How many starve?

  • Should I give my friend one of the puppies?

My dog is pregnant. There are a lot of people practically fighting over the puppies and she's only 2 weeks along - don't even know how many there will be yet.

One of my friends was told that if there were enough she was welcome to a puppy but that i already had quite a list lined up. She obviously didn't hear the IF because she told her daughters that they'd be getting one of the pups. I was secretly hoping there wouldn't be enough because she hardly takes care of herself and her daughters let alone another dog.

She had a pit bull that was kept inside of a small house instead of being allowed to run the yard. This is at the daughters' insistance. The dog tore apart the house and she had to get rid of it. I don't want this happening to my puppies.

These are small dogs - shih tzu lhasa size - and I could have her bring it back to me if it didn't work out.

I just dont know - the pros and cons are about equal. Maybe I'm not considering anything. And before anyone says a word I've already set an appointment for my male to get fixed and the female will be after she gives birth. I got these dogs knowing there would be just one litter.

So what do you think? Do you give your friend the puppy or not?

  • Is there any reason that dogs and cats are not completely euthanized?

This might just start a rant that i cant control but I'm a scorpio so i dont care. Here's the thing. Dog and cat breeding is out of control. Every joe schmoe on the street wants to make money off the poor four legged creatures with out considering those out there not 'good enuf' who have been abandoned or lost to shelters.

On the other hand, if we eliminate breeding and literally spay or neuter every animal we have, our grandchildren would not know what puppies or kitties are.

Spay/neuter is encourage with the knowledge that asking 100% of the population to do so will at least prompt 50% to consider it. Requiring that adopted animals be fixed makes sure that at least maybe .... 10% - 25% of animals are stopped from reproducing.

RESPONSIBLE breeding is highly encouraged and should be. But if we are going to seriously harass people into 100% sterilization of the cat and dog population, wouldn't it be better to just kill them all off now?

K... now you can get mad and respond :D

  • My dogs were 'knotted' about 5 times 2 weeks ago. How do i KNOW she's pregnant?

Already this lil girl has larger nipples and is getting sick to her stomach every now and then. But the dogs only mated 2 weeks ago and everything i read says it takes 4 weeks to know for sure. What are the chances that she's not pregnant and something else is wrong?
