  • What is a good dSLR camera for someone beginning photography?

I have always just used basic P&S digital cameras, but would like to learn more about photography. I don't know very much as I am just starting to think about getting a good camera and have just started doing some research. I've looked at the Canon Rebel T1i and the Nikon D5000 and also a friend told me about the Canon EOS 40D. Any thoughts and suggestions would be much appreciated.

  • How do you get a 10 year-old to do his chores without nagging him?

My step-son has not been doing his chores lately. Which leaves me to do them on top of all of my chores and taking care of my two little girls. I don't want to nag him about doing them, but he needs to learn to pitch in as a responsible part of the family. He doesn't have that many things that we ask him to do and he still complains and acts like we are terrible parents because we make him do chores. He is a good kid most of the time and is usually pretty good at helping. I just want to hear if anybody has any ideas. Sometimes it's helpful to hear what other people are doing. Thanks!

  • How long after taking ground turkey out of the freezer is it good for?

I took a package of ground turkey out of the freezer on Tuesday and put it in the fridge to thaw. Our dinner plans changed, so I didn't use the turkey that night. It is now Thursday and I was wanting to use it for dinner tonight. Is it still okay to use or should I throw it since it has been unfrozen for a few days?

  • What type of flooring is better? Hardwood, or laminate?

My husband and I are starting to think about putting hard floors in our house, but we're not sure which type is better. We have friends who put in a laminate floating floor and said that is the best way to go because it is easy to install, and it is more durable. I've seen on decorating shows and such on HGTV that real wood is probably better for resale value. We don't have pets to scratch the floor, but we do have kids. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • My 1 1/2 year old daughter has a rash. Can anyone help?

Tonight when I was bathing my daughter, I discovered she had this red rash all over her body. I had noticed yesterday that she had these little, red, slightly raised bumps on her bum when I changed her, but thought it was just a diaper rash. And it was pretty much gone this morning. Well, tonight they were spread all over her body- back, front, legs, arms, even face. I didn't seem to notice it was so bad when I first put her in the shower, but after she had been a little bit in the warm water is when I noticed it all over. And then when we were brushing her teeth afterward I noticed it was all over her face and neck too. I just went in to check on her while she was sleeping and they are still there...not quite as bad, but there. She woke up with a 100.7 fever yesterday morning, but it went away by afternoon, and she hasn't had any more fever. My mom and I are are thinking it is probably fifth disease. But then I was reading some more, and thinking maybe it could be roseola. Anybody have any ideas? I know it's not anything serious, but I'm still concerned. I'm especially hoping it's nothing contagious...we've been around a lot of people lately, and this next week is really busy for us too.

  • What color should I paint my front door?

Our house is a light baby blue kind of color with white trim and shutters. I want to do something to give it a little "pop" so thought painting the front door would be a good place to start...and the door needs to be painted anyway. So, what are your thoughts?

  • How to get rid of stink in fridge?

We just bought a used 10 year old fridge from craigslist, and got it home and started cleaning it...it smells terrible!!! It smells like cat urine or something awful. I've had it open all day and have taken everything out and washed everything very thoroughly with soap and warm water, and also vinegar. Then I put dishes of baking soda in it and it has been sitting for like 6 hours and it still doesn't even seem like it smells any better. I don't know what to do! Any suggestions would help! Thanks!

  • What to wear to a spring afternoon wedding???

My hubby and I have a wedding to go to on Saturday. The ceremony is in a church at 2pm with the reception following at 3pm (at a different location). I am also in my ninth month of pregnancy and don't have a lot of options in my closet, and really don't want to have to buy anything new. :) I have a knee length, cotton, flower print dress...would that be appropriate? Or I also have a cute black and white print skirt, but the only top I have to go with it right now is black. Anything you can suggest would be very much appreciated!! Thanks!

  • How do you remove oil from a cotton shirt?

It is the kind of oil that is used in a vaporizer...some kind of mineral oil I think. And my shirt is red, so I need something that won't remove the color along with the oil. Thanks for any suggestions!!!

  • Can baking soda be used in laundry?

My husband refs basketball so he gets really seaty. I wash his shirt every time after he works, but it still smells even after washing and drying with a fragrant dryer sheet. The shirt is polyester...all his other shirts that aren't polyester come out fine. The smell just doesn't seem to want to leave the ref shirt. I know baking soda is good for removing odors I'm just not sure if you can use it in the laundry and how much to use. Also, if you have any other suggestions that would be great! Thanks!
