  • Moving in 8 weeks. Husband has a job, I am anxious to start the search.?

How far in advance is too far to start sending resumes? I already have a local address that I can put on my resume, but of course, if they call tomorrow wanting an interview in a couple of days, I am not available to interview right away. I'm just not a procrastinator so it makes me nervous. If you have dealt with this, please let me know how far in advance you sent out your resume, or if you waited until you made the move. I am a paralegal and the jobs seem to be popping up all over down in that region for this line of work. Thanks for any advice.

  • Living in St. Pete, commuting to Downtown Tampa and Sarasota?

My husband and I are moving to the Tampa area. His job will be in Sarasota but mine will be in the downtown Tampa area...we want to be in the middle of all of it. It seems that living in St. Petersburg gives us the choice of St. Pete Beach, pretty close to Clearwater, 40 min to Sarasota and 30 minutes into downtown Tampa. I am looking at the mid-northern area of St. Petersburg. What areas should I avoid? I have found a few apartments that look nice but I know pictures are very different than in person. We'll be in the area in the next month to check them out, just trying to get an idea of the neighborhood we'd want to live in. Thanks!

  • What are your favorite juice/smoothie fasting diets?

I am doing a fast/cleanse soon, I realize it is debatable on whether these things are actually any good or not but I'll be doing a 2-3 day one, drinking fruit/veggie juices for breakfast and dinner, smoothie for lunches and water and green tea in between meals. I'd love some tips, recipes and advice for those who do them. I have been reading about the detox process (headaches, dehydration, etc) and how to avoid these symptoms. Thanks!

  • Fun way to announce elopement.?

Unique (crazy) story really, but I won't go into details. I am marring the same man for the second time...We married 6 years ago, divorced two years ago, and are eloping to Disney World in 3 weeks. I want a cute way to announce it the day we leave. I've seen some cute elopement announcements that say "We like being with each other so much that...we eloped!"...I thought about saying "We liked being together so much that...we decided to give it another go! Just married and off to Disney!" Something along those lines Keep your negative comments, no one needs them :) Thanks!!

  • If you are staying at resort at Walt Disney World, what is there to do in the area besides the parks?

We are eloping. Getting married at the courthouse and escaping to Orlando for about 4 days. We are having breakfast with the characters one morning and will probably spend most of our time at the resort pool and cabana bar. I wondered if there are any fun bars/restaurants in Orlando, or really the downtown Disney area, that are must-see for adults? The park tickets are expensive, so we'll probably just pick either Universal, Disney or Seaworld and do that one day and find other stuff in the area to entertain us the rest of the time. Any info is helpful. Thanks!

  • Protein diets for picky eaters?

Yep, I'm an adult but I eat like a child. I always do well on "diets" due to the fact that I don't mind living on string cheese, sandwiches and cereal. However, I am on a circuit training program now and I'm 4 weeks in. The results are great but I'm needing to up the protein in my diets. Currently eggs, peanut butter, string cheese, greek yogurt, and protein smoothies are what I'm living on. I have a body-building brother who has tried for months to get me into salmon, turkey burgers, tilapia, cod, tuna, cottage cheese, etc...I just simply can't stomach it. Any ideas on meal plans with other food items (I do love veggies and fruits, although I try not to eat too much fruit due to sugar). Thanks!! Also, if you have come across a great salty snack that is very low in calories, let me know, I crave salty more than I do sweet, so I'm always looking for good snacks.

  • Best paint to use when distressing furniture? (shabby chic style)?

I have a small set of drawers I'm using as my first experiment. This is something I've been looking into and I love the look (not sure if I'll love the look of what I end up with, but you never know until you try!). I've heard Valspar is a good brand to use but I'm wondering if I can get by with using Glidden or something from Walmart for a small piece like this? I want to do a light blue/green color and change out the knobs on the front. Any info is appreciated.

  • Small Business Loan Advice Needed-Bank or Credit Union?

I am looking into applying for a small business loan within the next year. I have my business plan & cash flow projections together and even a retail space I want to look into leasing (Gift & Decor store). Anyone out there who works for or has been in this situation that could offer advice? I don't have bad credit, but not over 700 (which I hear if it is less than 700 it is difficult to get a loan from a bank) and my husband and I have bought a house in the last year but not enough equity to try to go that route.

My question is....without perfect credit but w/ a great business plan and no negative inquiries on my credit, would going to a Credit Union be a better plan than applying with a national bank chain?

New to this and trying to do as much research as possible before applying for anything. Looking for a $10,000 start up loan. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

  • Trip to NYC in two weeks....Affordable shopping, recommended bars?

We will be staying in Chelsea, not too far from TImes Square and of course we'll be hopping over to 5th Avenue. I'm not much of a designer buyer.....I love them, just can't afford the price tags! I love fashion and "cute" finds, so any little boutiques and places new yorkers may know about, please let me know! I plan on seeing H&M and a few other places I have heard about (a place called Shoegasm?)

Also, I have a friend who is living in Brooklyn and we will be going out the night we get there, but she doesn't know of many bars in Manhatten. Anyone have anything that is a "must see" that won't break the bank as far as cover charges and drink prices?

  • Adult Girls Night-Pajama Party?

Everyone will be wearing pj's. I'll have wine, dancing, probably have a cupcake tree and make cookies w/ "sweet dreams" etc on them. I want to come up with some fun-funny games to play. I have Twister. We are all early-mid 20's, most are all single and I throw girls nights every few months at my house. Just looking for something different to do, so throw me your suggestions!

    games, decorations, random ideas...thanks!

  • Theme Party-Housewarming ideas?

My husband and I have bought our first house and wanting to introduce the place to the friends. We aren't into the traditional housewarming parties and don't want to register or have friends bring gifts. We'd rather have a 'theme" to it.

    I'm open to suggestions! Thanks!

  • What are some themes for a Housewarming Party?

My husband and I just bought our first house. We are not into the "come over and take a tour and bring a gift" type party, but we want to introduce the house to our friends. Our "thing" is themed parties...we have had several in the past couple of years (in our apartment, so less room). But we want to come up with something fun to add to the housewarming party.

We have a game room, so I was thinking instead of "stock the bar", have a "stock the game room" party. But that still implies that we expect our friends to bring us games.

Just look for some unique suggestions here. Unique themes that are a little more modern than the traditional housewarming party-but still allows everyone to see the house for the first time without decorations for a party everywhere.

    Thanks!

  • Would we be able to get approved for $125,000 home loan?

My husband & I are looking for our first home, and looking for a home to stay in for a very long time, so we aren't necessarily wanting the "starter home" look. The homes we are finding that we like and the note we figure up with our realtor are about the same as we pay for rent right now at our apartment...

My question is, if my husband makes $30,000 a year (I make strickly commission on my job, so I can't be figured in), one car note ($380/month) and no credit cards (all payed off) and he has excellent credit. I know it is impossible to know for sure without someone seeing all the info, but does anyone know our chances of being approved for a $125,000 home loan?? Thanks.

I'm new to all of this, so if anymore info is needed...I can provide it. We are going later this week to fill out all the paperwork, but I'm just curious whether to get my hopes up or not ;)

  • Thinking about getting my nose pierced?

I have been a secretary for several years (I'm 23) but waitressing right now, waiting to find a job that I actually like ;) But I'm thinking about getting a nose ring (little stud) just for a few weeks, I'm always wanted one and would like to just try it out. I couldn't keep it forever, I will have to put back on the business suit one of these days..but until then, it'd be fun. BUT, my question is....when I decided I no longer want it, will it leave a noticeable scar?? Also, I know with naval piercings you can't put a cut ring in for a couple of weeks...is this true with nose piercings?? can I put a cute one in there the day that I get it??

Those of you who know about piercings, let me know how this goes.

  • Vacationing to Miami next week, how much money?

My husband and I are vacationing to Miami-South Beach for the week next week for our second anniversary and I'm trying to make sure I have enough money saved. We are staying at a 2-star hotel on Ocean Drive, and as far as eating out goes, we plan to eat fast food most of the time. But I wanted to know as far as parking, shopping, night clubs, drinks at lounges, etc....and I have seen that at Nikki Beach you can lay out on the big pillow beds, how much are these to rent?

I'm trying to get an idea of what kind of money I'm looking at spending....any help is appreciated. Thanks!
