  • Lower leg pain after running?

I have decided to start running to get in shape and lose weight. My goal is to do a triathlon sprint thing in October. I am starting slow because I am very out of shape and I have never been a runner. I started last week walking for 3 mins then jogging for 1 min for about 30 mins. Then bumped it up to running for 2 mins starting this last weekend.

After jogging on Saturday the muscle on the inner side of my lower legs were hurting. I figured it was just normal muscle soreness and I ran again on Sunday. But I had to stop Sunday because it was hurting so bad. It aches down into my ankles. I ran a bit this morning so they have been achy all day, but for about an hour afterward it was hard to even walk. My question is....have you ever had pain on the inner side of your lower leg? I am just wondering if it is normal muscle soreness that I should just work through, or if I should stop running and see a Dr. to find out if it is something like shin splints or something else. I really enjoy running so I don't want to stop.

    Thanks!

  • My cat won't drink from his water bowl?

I have one of the little double sectioned food/water dishes for my cat. He will eat his food out of it just fine. But when I put water in it he will not drink from it. He actually gets his paw underneath it and flips it over spilling the water on the floor right after I put the fresh water in it, every time. He will however drink from the shower after we get out, drink from the bathroom sink, the kitchen sink, and the toilet when we forget to put the lid down.

Has anyone else had a problem like this?

  • Which State would be best for us to move to?

My husband and I live in Sacramento now, and have grown up in the area. My husband was born in Louisiana and has visited quite a few times. He says he loves to visit, but never wants to live there, so that's out.

We like the beach, but we don't go there often. We like the mountains and foresty areas. Hate when it gets around 100+ degrees outside. I don't want to live somewhere that gets really humid like down south (I don't want to live with sticky weather, and giant bugs and rodents). I LOVE the snow but have never lived anywhere I really experienced living in it. Like having to shovel the walkway and being snowed in, so I don't know if I would like it or not.

We would love to live somewhere where we could hike and enjoy nature, where we would be somewhat close to the ocean or lakes, where we could be somewhat close to the snow for snowboarding, and where we could be somewhat close to at least a small city.

Central California sounds like it's be good for us, but it just costs way too much to live here.

    Any ideas?

  • How to clean and maintain a hot tub?

We just bought a house that has a hot tub in the backyard. I have never owned a hot tub or a pool and I am completely clueless. It was sitting half full of water for who knows how long so I know it needs to be drained and cleaned. So what steps do I need to take?

How should I drain it? Clean it? Then after I fill it how do I maintain it?

    Thanks!

  • Help! I don't want my identity stolen!?

My husband had filled out some paperwork at his job regarding some medical bills. The information on the paperwork included his name, address, birth date, social security number, place of employment...pretty much everything.

He is normally very carefull but he put all the paperwork in his back pocket to bring home. Now we canlt find it anywhere and he is worried that he dropped it at when he was at home depot.

Is there anything we can do to guard against identity theft? We already subscribed to a credit reporting agency that shows all 3 credit bureaus. Is there something else we can do? He is freaking out right now.

  • Should I buy a car from the CA State Auction?

I am wondering if anyone knows how well the State usually takes care of their cars. I know that once the car hits 150,000 miles they will usually sell it at an auction. I am thinking about trying to get a car at one of these auction in Sacramento. The cars are sold as is. The website says "All vehicles and lot items are sold "AS IS", "WHERE IS." THERE ARE NO WARRANTIES (EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED), ADJUSTMENTS, REPAIRS, REFUNDS, OR EXCHANGES."

So I am just wondering if this would be a good deal and if the cars are usually in pretty good shape.

    Thanks!

  • Help with leash training my year old American Bulldog?

We just adopted a purebred 11 month old female American Bulldog. She is the sweetest dog I have ever met but she is very timid. When I take her for walks she is all over the place. When I take her to the pet store it is the same way. I want to work with her to get her more socialized. I thought I would start with daily walks around the neighborhood before taking her to the dog park. She does listen, but it takes her a few minutes.

I used to have a male 1/2 pit bull 1/2 catahoula who was 110 lbs of pure muscle. With him, I used a pronge collar and that worked great. My American Bulldog is only about 65 - 70 lbs and doesn't pull like he did.

My question is, do you think I should use a prong collar on her? Will it be harmful to her? Or do you think a regular choke chain would work with her?

    Thanks!

  • What are some dog friendly day trips from Sacramento?

I live in Sacramento, but I haven't lived here very long so I am not sure about where to go. I want to go for a day trip with my husband and my dog to maybe the beach. Just drive somewhere that would be nice to hang out for a while and pack a lunch.

I was thinking the beach but something in the mountains would work too. Any suggestions? Remember, it needs to be dog friendly.

    Thanks!

  • How quickly can I lose the weight?

I used to be very active and fit. I am 5'2 and I weighed 120 pounds. I swam, went bike riding, and was a generally very active teenager so I was all muscle. I got married when I was 18. After I got married I gained some weight (about 10-15 lbs) but that wasn't a huge deal. The problem was about 6 months later when we started having some serious family issues with my side of the family that have only recently (about 2 years later) gotten better. I found out that I am a a stress eater. I gained a lot of weight very quickly. I am now 21 and I weight 185. So 125 to 185.... that's a lot of freakin weight and I am huge! I have had a hard time losing the weight because I have always had a serious lack of self discipline. I know that I need to avoid eating when I get stressed and try to direct my stress into something else like running.

My plan is to stick to about 1000 calories a day (which includes eating 6 small meals a day), walking the dog for 30 min every morning, on top of a 30 min run (walk at first since I am very out of shape) 3 times a week. Then on days I don't go for that extra run doing some strength training with a resistance band for about 30 min a day?

My question is how quickly do you think I could lose the 60 pounds I want to lose if I stick to this routine? I know it depends on each persons body, but I am just curious what people's estimate would be.

    Thanks!

  • Question about iphone and itunes??????

My husband and I are going to be getting iPhones. He has a desktop computer with all his music on it (all his cds that he has had for years). I have a laptop with all my music. I know that you have to use itunes to activate your iPhone when you get it. Should we do this on our separate computers or can we do it on the same one? Also, if he wants music that is on my computer and vice versa, will we be able to that? Like if I sync my iPhone with my laptop, can I then plug my iPhone into his computer and transfer some of his music to my iPhone?

    Thanks!

  • Ear infection help. Should I go back to the doctor?

Last week I got sick with a cold/sinus thing. It lasted about a week. About 4 days into it my ear started to hurt. I figured it was just a symptom of the sinus drainage but when my sinus started to clear up and my ear got worse I figured I had an ear infection and I went into the doctor. He prescribed my 1000mg a day of amoxicillin, 2 500mg pills twice a day. I have taken this antibiotic before, though only half the dosage, for things like strep throat. When I had strep I started feeling better the very next day after starting the meds. I have been taking the high doseage of antibiotics now for 3 days and my ear feels exactly the same. It feels very plugged up and there is occasional pain. My question is, should I just keep taking the antiobiotics for a few nore days and see if it gets better? Or should I go back to the doctor?

    Thanks!

  • Should I upgrade to an iphone?

It's almost time for me to upgrade me phone with my AT&T plan. I am thinking about getting an iphone, but I am wondering if I will really use it enough for it to be worth it. People out there who have an iphone, please give me your opinion.

I text a lot. I like having the full keyboard (or the full keyboard on a touch screen.) I do have and use my ipod (which I would probably sell if I get an iphone), so I would definitely use the ipod for music. I like taking pictures with my phone. I don't know much about the apps or which ones are out there that I would use. On the plan I have now I already have the unlimted data for $30 a month so I don't think the iphone would cost me any more monthly.

What do you think iphone users? Should I get one? Do you like yours? If so, why?

    Thanks!

  • LG Vu vs. Samsung Eternity. Which is better?

It is phone upgrade time and I am trying to decide between the LG Vu and the Samsung Eternity. I think the Eternity is a Smart Phone which I don't really need and the data plan costs more for a Smart Phone. I have heard good and bad things about both phones.

Also, both phones will cost me the same amount of money.

Anyone have experience with one or both of these phones?

    Thanks!

  • Unemployment in California?

My husband unfortunately may be getting laid off soon. We are hoping and praying that that does not happen, and we are also trying to find him some "back up" work. But if he gets laid off before he can find something else he will have to go on unemployment.

He has worked at his current job for 2 years today and he makes $19.50 an hour. How much would he be able to receive in unemployment?

  • Is it ever the "perfect time" to have a baby?

I am 21 years old. My husband is 23. We got married 3 years ago when I was 18. We both have decent jobs. Not anything that will make us rich anytime soon, but stable and we can pay all our bills on time. We just bought our first house a few months ago. 3 bed 2 bath. We have talked about wanting kids, but we (he more than I) want to wait until we feel we are 100% ready financially and otherwise.

My question is, is there ever a time when you feel completely ready for a baby?

We do want a baby. We both have always wanted kids, but we knew we needed to wait for a while. Should we go for it? Are we ready?

  • What do I need to do the day before spaying?

My dog has an appointment with the SPCA next week. My husband made the appointment and doesn't remember what they told him to do the day before. MEN! I have tried calling the SPCA but they have an automated answering system you have to go through and they haven't gotten back to me yet.

What do I need to do the day before the surgery to make sure she is prepped?

  • Renting out a room in your house and taxes?

We just bought a house a few months ago and we are going to be renting out our spare bedroom for $400 a month. What do I need to do as far as taxes? I know I will have to report it as income, but should I be taking some out each month for taxes? I have never had any income that wasn't already taxed so I am not sure what to do.
