I am a jack of all trades, so to speak, maybe because I have ADHD.
Simple percentage question?
This is to demonstrate the educational attainment of people with adhd vs. the general population. What is 0.06% of 1,000 versus 5.6 percent of 1,000, and how could the answers be used to demonstrate the contrast to the layperson?
1 AnswerPsychology2 weeks agoCan I remove pages from a pdf file?
I downloaded some free non-copyrighted pdf textbooks from the internet, which have quizzes for students, but they also have the answers. Is there a way of removing the pages with the answers on them and then reconstitute the file without them?
8 AnswersSoftware2 months agoDoes my pain management doctor seem to be passive in his 'management'?
I've been going to a pain management doctor for 5 years. He prescibes 150mg tramadol a day & 1200 mg neurontin a day. I took it on myself to do back strenghening exercies and meditation: both help, but he never recommends either of them. This doc said he isn't too sure why I have the pain even looking at an MRI. I went to spine surgeon who said "I believe the pain is from osteoarthritis.' I told the pain management guy, and he immediately said, 'OK, let's treat you for that" without doing any examination of his own. Does he seem not particularly involved in my treatment?

If I submit a credit card to a service provider to be used to pay for services prior to receiving the service, can the provider demand to know the balance available on your card before accepting it as collateral?
Credit2 years agoWhat is correct: a couple hours OR a couple of hours?
I have always used the expression "a couple of hours." On the other hand, now I see every use of the term on the web, in mainstream published novels, in published essays, etc., expressed as "a couple hours." This usage doesn't seem to make any sense, but I can't find anything published that uses "a couple of hours."
3 AnswersWords & Wordplay2 years agoCan weight lifting make you gain weight?

8 AnswersDiet & Fitness2 years agoCan the word "onboard' be used as a verb?
According to an online dictionary, the word 'onboard' can be used as a verb (in business) if it is followed by an object. I was reading an ad for executives that offered a service that contained the following sentence. "The system has made it easy for managers to onboard." Is this 'business speak' or would it be considered grammatically correct?
3 AnswersWords & Wordplay3 years agoHow can I find the name of the used car dealer I purchased my car from?
I lost my sales receipt (paid cash) for a used car about four years ago. I want to find the dealer's name--not to complain or sue him, but I was so satisfied with the car and price, I want to look at his inventory for another car. The location was about 20 miles from me. Any ideas? I have car title, insurance, registration, etc.

I was swimming in Mexico, and someone started swimming near me. I had already dove to the bottom and noticed some sea urchins (erizos de mar). On the surface I warned him about it, and he began saying. "Eres el maximo." el maximo over and over. (He was drunk)..I speak Spanish pretty well, and I know that a literal translation would be you re the max or something like that. What s a better interpretation.
2 AnswersLanguages3 years agoDoes the following sentence contain a metaphor, or is it just describing something using imagery?
Here is a sentence that describes a tossed cigarette.
"The cigarette made a glowing arc as it fell towards the river."
Does that sentence contain a metaphor or is "a glowing arc" just describing the cigarette. I suppose "The cigarette was a glowing arc as it fell towards the river" definitely has a metaphor, but what s the difference if the first sentence doesn t have a metaphor and the second one does?
3 AnswersWords & Wordplay3 years agoMoved to a new city. Why won't my g/f give me some names of people that might be contacts?
Everyone says 'networking' is an important part of job hunting. I recently moved to a new city, where my g/f is living. I have a good employment record, but have no contacts in the area. I asked her if she would give me the names and titles of some associates just so I could reach out to them informally, with a simple, "Hi, I'm ___, a good friend of ______. I've just moved to the area and am looking for a position in _____." My g/f refuses to help me. It's as though the entire topic were anathema to her. She is in top management, and she's busy, but she is acting as though I'm asking her to do something arduous and time consuming. What I'm asking wouldn't take more than 30-40 minutes. I think she has the 'nobody ever helped me attitude.' I find her behavior severe, and am beginning to wonder why I'm even with her.
2 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment3 years agoAre tote bags and travel water bottles appropriate 'souvenirs' for Vietnam Women's Memorial?
I am doing a school paper on the Vietnam War Memorial, and in my research I found a fundraising site connected to the main Memorial site that offers tote bags and water bottles imprinted an image of the Vietnam Women's Memorial to help spread the word about women's contributions in the war (nurses, etc) A photo or a book I could understand, but tote bags and water bottles? WTF?
5 AnswersEtiquette4 years agoIs this sentence from the official practice test for the SAT correct? The College Board says it is.?
I was practicing for the SAT, and I marked this sentence as being wrong, but the official SAT guide says it's correct because leisurely can be an adverb OR adjective. Isn't this getting too demanding? Even if that is grammatically correct, doesn't the sentence sound awkward? The guidebook says it's clear and concise.
"The movement also focused on the value of spending leisurely meals with friends and family."
11 AnswersWords & Wordplay4 years agoIf I visit the Barcelona region for a few weeks, would knowing some Catalan be helpful?
I can speak Spanish, and I believe everyone in Barcelona and the rest of the Catalan region speaks both Spanish and Catalan, but would there be any advantage of speaking or getting along with people if I learned basic Catalan? There's a free course on the internet, and I have about two months time to study.
1 AnswerCatalunya4 years agoHow do you write the word "aleph" in an essay or story?
I can't find the answer to this; maybe you can figure it out. If I write, "I noticed that the music box had the Hebrew letter "aleph" engraved on top," do I write 'aleph' with italics, since it is a word from another language being used in an English sentence? I think in math, if you use a foreign symbol, you italise it, but that's a letter, not a word.
2 AnswersLanguages4 years agoWhy not Ward/Kovalev III?
Since it's about the money, who will pay to see Adonis Stevenson vs. Ward or Kovalev (except maybe Canadians), which seems to be what people are predicting? Stevenson will be 40 y.o. in September. Who has he fought that makes him a 'name' as a light-heavyweight? Wouldn't the money be made for a Ward/Kovalev III, Obviously Kovalev would go for a third fight.

I'm writing a college essay in Ireland although I go to a university in the U.S. If I say 'He is buried in a 'catholic cemetery' or 'protestant cemetery' aren't I using the religious sense of the word as an adjective? If so is it capitalized? Also, are the rules different in the U.S. and U.K?
7 AnswersHomework Help4 years agoI used to do amateur boxing training: heavy bag, speed bag, jumping rope, some sparring 10 years ago.Can I start up again with glasses?
I was all set to join the local gym; then I realized something that should have been obvious. I didn't wear glasses then. Now I do, and I can't see well at all without them. I can't wear contacts because of the type of vision I have. I can't even imagine hitting a heavy bag. My glasses cost $400 a pair. They'd fall right off. Any type of eyeglass guard I could wear over them? I wouldn't even consider sparring at this point, but what about a workout?
2 AnswersBoxing4 years agoWhat is a fair "finder's fee" percentage when referring someone to a service?
Someone I'm acquainted with his sponsoring a two-week day academic enrichment program for middle schoolers in the summer (with licensed teachers); 'Tuition' is $500-$800. He said if I could refer parents who sign their kids up, he'd give me a referral or finder's feel. He mentioned casually 5 to 7 percent of tuition. Does this sound right? P.S. I'm not soliciting anybody on YA, not even mentioning location.
