Why are there still middle class Obama supporters that say their taxes haven't gone up?
Unless there is some big surprise at the end of this year (2013), my withholdings have increased by nearly $40 per week this year so far, without my wages or W4 status changing.
8 AnswersPolitics8 years agoPolitically speaking, is this just an interesting and informative article?
Or is this what the "vast majority" of voters really want?
4 AnswersPolitics9 years agoDo Flat Tax proponents know that a Flat Tax would also eliminate the Standard Deduction?
Eliminating deductions for wealthy people will also eliminate the standard deduction we little people enjoy as well.
6 AnswersPolitics9 years agoJust what do the wealthy "steal" from the poor?
I keep hearing people saying the rich are stealing from the poor, usually from liberals. I don't understand. Is it money? They're poor, so they don't have money, by definition. Is it labor? If they have a job, they are being paid, and have the choice not to stay employed. If they don't have a job, and are poor, and are receiving entitlement benefits, I would think it is those poor who are stealing from the rich. What is it?
22 AnswersPolitics9 years agoHow can the government say they are "investing" in the economy?
when the money they "invest" comes from the economy in the first place, and printed money only dilutes the value of the money in the economy?
12 AnswersPolitics9 years agoWhich political party is it that complains about the cost of living, yet is for raising the minimum wage?
AND for raising taxes, AND for unions, AND for increased energy prices?
9 AnswersPolitics9 years agoDoesn't the bickering between left and right boil down to taxation and representation?
Our original independence was based on taxation without representation. These days it appears that the opposite is occurring, as in no-taxation, but with representation (for a growing body of people). Wouldn't a solution be to reserve the right to vote for taxpayers only? After all, we are voting for representatives whose jobs are to handle our tax dollars.
3 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhy doesn't the public sector follow private sector rules in hard times?
Private sector businesses have been leaning out their processes, reducing expenditures, and laying off people to stay afloat in this economy. Why isn't the government required to do the same, especially since the government is a large part of the problem in the first place? Larger economy, larger government. Smaller economy, smaller government. Why is it the opposite? It is not the job of the federal government to provide jobs to jobless people.
7 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoIf we taxed the rich, until they were poor, and gave it all to the poor, to make them rich,?
would the poor (who were once rich) want to tax the rich (who were once poor), or would the rich (who were once poor) say "it's our turn now"? OR Would the poor (who were once rich) rise above the challenge, and become rich again, while the rich (who were once poor) just dwindled the wealth away?
11 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhy do those on the left say that tax cuts cost money?
I have heard this many times from liberals, and have never heard a real answer, other than they think that money magically produced by the government, and not something that is earned by ingenuity or hard work, productivity, and expansion of the private sector.
11 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhy does the politically correct crowd say not to fear Muslims or Islam, yet they fear them?
They say we should embrace Islam, and not to fear Muslims, yet they will censor a cartoon, or promote or defend the building of a mosque, for fear of retaliation from Muslims.
8 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoExactly what product or service is represented with this stock?
And if the goal is to reduce pollution, will the stock value decline as pollution is reduced?
Would this company qualify for a bail out if pollution was eliminated?
Why is this question in this category? - Vested interest by our politicians
1 AnswerOther - Politics & Government1 decade agoHow can government employees say they pay income tax?
Wouldn't it be easier if they just got a reduction in pay? Do welfare recipients pay income tax as well?
If I took a portion of my check, say $10, paid someone $1 to keep it for a week, then apply the leftover $9 to my next check, what sense does this make? Now I have to take another $10 out of the $9 I got back, so basically, I'm paying the IRS $1/week in this example, not to mention, they are probably doing the same with their taxpayer supplied incomes as well.
2 AnswersGovernment1 decade agoShouldn't government jobs count as jobs lost?
Every government job is paid for by taxpayer dollars, taken out of paychecks from the private sector, just like unemployment is taken out. How can we consider a government job a "created" job, when actually it has taken someone off of the private sector job count?
5 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoHow, and to whom has Supply-side Theory, or "Trickle-Down" Economics been supposedly dis-proven?
Doesn't the US have the largest and wealthiest lower and middle class in the world? I have heard that if you make just $30K/year, you are in the top 7% wealthiest in the world. Isn't this due, at least in part, to the government providing tax relief to businesses, large or small, which in turn pass these tax breaks, in the form of reduced costs, on to the consumer?
2 AnswersEconomics1 decade agoHow is it the government says entitlements cost money, and at the same time, say that tax cuts cost money?
I can understand entitlements costing money, as they are expenditures, but I don't understand how reducing revenue increases cost. If I get a pay cut, I must reduce expenditures or I go broke. My pay cut would not "cost" me anything, but I would have to adjust my budget by reducing expenditures.
