  • Could a developed nation still be ruled by an absolute monarch?

I don't think any country with an absolute ruler could be developed. Relying on the good humor of the ruler is a pretty flimsy base to the government. But, I'd like to know what you guys think.

  • I don't want to deal with this ongoing fight?

So basically, there is this guy (we'll call him Cody for the time being) who I DO NOT get along with. In fact, people say we're archenemies. All last year, the two of us constantly got into arguments about the randomest things. It became a game of provoking each other to frustration.

In May, we got into a really heated argument that landed us both in detention. "Cody" made fun of me and used a slew of homophobic insults against him. It may very well have escalated a fight if teachers hadn't stepped in and if he wasn't opposed to hitting a girl.

Anyway, I haven't seen or had to deal with "Cody" all summer and things have been so relaxing. I want this whole ongoing fight to be over. The first day of school is tomorrow but I'm not sure what I'll do if we wind up picking up where we left off.

I am 13 and I would really love to be an author when I am an adult but I'm not sure if my writing style needs a little development.

    Thank you so much!

  • I caught my friend drinking, she's 14!?

Okay, so earlier today a few of my friends were going to hang out at my friend, Sarah's house. I walked to her house early and wandered into the barn where we usually hang out. Sarah was standing behind a few bales of hay, where I saw her downing a flask of something and then hiding the bottle under a bale of hay. I did not say anything and pretended like I had just walked in.

I was shocked, though. Sarah is one of the sweetest people I've ever met. Bot to mention she's only 14. What would cause her to want to drink?

  • Why are conservatives labeled as racist?

I don't get why people make the assumption that someone is racist for not supporting Obama. I also heard accusations of racism when Eric Holder was being tried for Fast and Furious.

  • I humiliated myself in front of the guy I like?

Okay, maybe it wasn't that bad but just bear with me. First you need know that I speak Spanish at home, it comes into play later.

Anyway, I've liked this guy for a long time. Usually I'd just come right out and tell a guy but he had a girlfriend for a while so I waited. Eventually they broke up but I was still uneasy until one of his friends told me that he thought I was one of the hottest girls in our grade. It also just so happens that our school is having a Sadie Hawkins dance next week.

So I went right up to him in the cafeteria today and told him exactly how I feel. I said it so quick though, it wasn't till it was over that I realized I said it in SPANISH. I'm sure I could have just laughed it off but the heat of the moment, I got embarrassed and fled as quick as possible. I have no idea what to do now!

  • Are there any positive American stereotypes?

Trust me, I've heard more than my fair share of the "Americans are fat, lazy, rude, loud, stupid and ignorant" stereotypes. Are there any positive stereotypes that non-Americans believe about us?

I finished reading "Angela's Ashes" not to long ago and I'm not sure what it means. Before reading, I assumed it meant Angela died and the ashes were little her ashes from the crematorium. But seeing that this never happens I'm unsure what it means. Does anyone know?

  • What's with the alternate spelling trend?

Alternate spellings of normal names is a big baby naming trend these days, which I don't really get. I understand something like Adrien (usually spelled Adrian) or Karin (usually spelled Karen). But when you start naming your children Kalob (Caleb) and Maddysyn (Madison) you're just setting them up for a life of correcting people on pronunciation . Does anyone else hate this trend?
