Why do people ask questions on this site and then award "best answer" to those who simply tell them what they
already believed before they asked the question?
17 AnswersPsychology1 decade agoHow long do questions remain "in voting" before a "best answer" is chosen?
6 AnswersTrivia1 decade agoA friend teaches college mathematics, and he'd be interested as to how people using Yahoo Answers respond to
the following question: if you think there is a point that touches one [1] just to the left on the real number line, what might that number be? In addition to not being particularly well worded, this is a bit of a trick question.
9 AnswersMathematics1 decade agoI don't want to discourage anyone who is attempting to provide Scripturally sound answers to yahoo questions,
but is anyone else beginning to find the Religion & Spirituality section to be an extremely depressing site?

2 AnswersInternet1 decade agoHow are trees able to transport water from their roots to their tops?
Given that large broadleaf trees lose a lot of water on hot days, and some Redwoods can reach heights of more than 300 ft, it is obvious that enormous amounts of water must be moved. I don't think capillary action can account for this, and at the risk of sounding stupid, trees don't have hearts. Informed responses are appreciated.
9 AnswersBotany1 decade agoA magnolia tree in north-central Texas is receiving sufficient water, but many of its leaves are falling off,
and most of the remaining leaves are shriveling. Does any one have any ideas as to possible causes based on this limited information?
4 AnswersBotany1 decade agoHow would a person go about finding what the positions of the sun, moon, or certain stars were relative to the
earth at a particular time in the past. Or for that matter, how would someone find a date based on celestial observations made at an unknown time. For example, how would we find out in which years Passover arrived after sunset Wednesday or sunset Friday between A.D. 23 and A.D. 43? I'm not looking for a general answer, I'd like know how to rapidly obtain the necessary calculations/ information.
5 AnswersAstronomy & Space1 decade agoFor human beings, the visible spectrum is light with wave lengths ranging from approximately 400 to 700?
nanometers. By additive color theory, the three primary colors are green, blue, and red. If you understand the math behind the way light of different wavelengths interact, for example red and green light seen together are perceived as yellow, feel free to respond to this question. Thanks
