  • What is this pain in my left leg?

About 3 or 4 days ago, I felt weird pulsing in my left calf muscle. Then, Thursday, when I was walking my daughter to school (in unusual 30 degree weather - I'm in Florida), I noticed both calf muscles started cramping. Once I was indoors, they started to ease and the cramping stopped. Yesterday, the left calf muscle hurt, making it uncomfortable to walk. Then, today, when I got out of bed, I couldn't even stand up, the pain was unbearable. I limped around for awhile, and it started to ease; never fully dissipating. Anytime I would sit, the pain would subside, but the moment I stand it's back into major pain mode. It's gotten far worse as time goes on. I don't see any visual discoloration or bruising, and it is extremely tender to touch.

There is nothing that I can pinpoint as the initial cause. Any suggestions or recommendations would be helpful!

    Thanks!

  • Raise Feeder Dogs on a Singer 8280?

There doesn't seem to be an lever to raise the feeder dogs on my brand new Singer 8280. According to the instruction manual, they are always up and a plate is used to cover, when needed.

For some reason, the feeders are lower than the plate and do not raise up high enough to grab the fabric. Took it partially apart and found a bolt loose on part of the mechanism that holds it together.

Can anyone tell me how to raise the feeder dogs so it will grab the fabric?

  • How do I strip wallpaper from plain drywall?

Some genius put wallpaper directly on drywall. I only figured this out after scoring the entire bathroom. I tried using Dif and it only loosens the border over the other wall paper. I can't get the wallpaper free from the drywall.

Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this???

    Thanks!!!!

  • Can you please help me with Pool Pump/Filter question?

I am new to the world of inground pools. When we first moved a little over a week ago, the pool pump seemed to be running at full steam. The filter area was filled with water and had little air bubbles. Now, it is only half full and you can see the water running into it. The water coming into the pool is slow, and there doesn't seem to be much suction coming through the filter. Our little cleaning robot is even running super slow. I don't know what kind of pump it is, other than it has a sand filter and automatic chlorine system right at the filter.

Thanks for your help. Oh, also, I have the timer set to run from 11AM - 800PM

  • Question regarding Wireless Internet Access in the home?

I just bought a laptop and hooked up a router. I was playing around with the information, I noticed that various other networks come up. I have seen several different names. Some show as Security-enabled, some unsecure, some as private. Since I am in an apartment complex, it doesn't surprise me that I may be picking up other people's wireless signal. But, I don't understand - first, is it possible for people to use my internet? Am I secure? Can they gain access to my computers? Since I can see them, it goes without saying they can see me - which is why all of these questions are coming up.

I guess I am just wondering, since this is new to me.

    Thanks!

  • Curious about WiFi - Wireless Internet Access?

I am getting ready to buy a laptop and I am planning on buying one that is wireless capable. I will need it during business trips. But, I don't understand the difference between the wireless cards, ethernet cards... Are their different, better quality numbers I should look for? Maybe that will connect better and more securely? Also, if I am at a resort and I am online via wireless access, can anyone tap into my computer?

    Thanks for your help!

  • Question about purchasing a new laptop computer.?

I have been looking into buying a laptop computer. It will only be used while I am traveling on business to do emailing, maybe some online stuff, basic games with basic graphics, and working with Excel, Word, and Publisher. I definitely will need WiFi/Wireless capabilities. I don't want to spend a lot of money, since it will only be used a few times a month - not as a primary computer. Ideally, I also would like a processor like Intel. Something that has been around awhile. I don't know the first thing about speed, memory, or what I need with the wireless aspect. So your suggestions on what to look for, what not to skimp on, would be much appreciated.

  • I need help with Photoshop Elements!?

We use our clients logos on various documents. I have never used Photoshop before and I can't figure out how to do what I need to do. If you can't help, I would greatly appreciate it.

Assume that the logo background is a white rectangle, while the left portion of the written portion of the logo is blue, and the right written portion is red. I need to get rid of the white rectangle and make the background transparent, as it would look on a .png file. Unfortunately, on the color of the background I am placing the logo on, still shows the background even with a .png file.

    Thanks!

  • Can you please tell me what I am doing wrong when I make yeast breads?

For many years I have dreamed of being able to make and bake my own fresh yeast breads.

I always use a thermometer to measure the temperature of the water when I prepare the dry yeast.

    Here are my questions.

    1) My house is 70-72 degrees. (AC is always on.) Where and how can I place the bread to rise?

    2) How long does it take to rise the first time? How about the second time?

    3) My bread always looks fantastic when I pull it out of the oven. But, it's a facade! Every time I end up with a heavy clump of bread at the bottom of the pan, and a huge air space between the bread and thin layer of golden brown crust. (By huge air space, I mean several inches between them.)

    4) When you grease the bowl and the pan, what do I use? Crisco shortening, butter, vegetable oil, cooking spray?

I just don't know what I am doing wrong. Please help!

  • Anyone Know What Happened to Tampa Bay DJ from Mix 100.7?

I went out of town because a family member passed away, come back to Tampa, to find that Jeff from Tampa Bay's Mix 100.7 was no longer on. It was just Nancy for a few days, then they replaced him with some guy named Chris - who really doesn't add much to the new show.

Do any of you know what happened?

  • How do you explain death of a loved one to a 4 1/2 year old?

My grandfather passed away last night, and I am flying home tomorrow morning to be with my family. He had cancer. When my daughter and I flew home at the beginning of November to spend time with both sets of grandparents, she saw that he was sick. He was hooked up to a feeding tube and he could barely walk, barely talk. Although it made her nervous, she recognized the feeding pump as the same one she used when she was younger. So, she equated it to her own health, and became more comfortable with him.

She has had fish die. I think 5. And she as flushed them all down the toilet without any Rudy Huxtable drama. (For those that are my generation - you know exactly what I mean...)

I don't want to scare her and lead her into worrying that Mommy and Daddy could die and leave her. She doesn't understand that it could happen. And I don't know that I want her to have that fear. Can you please give me your opinions on how best to talk with her about his passing?

    Thank you!

  • How can I transfer Digital 8 tape to HP Media Center to make a DVD?

I tried asking this under computers and am not getting any responses - so now I will try another area.

I have a Sony Digital 8 Handy Cam. I can connect the cam to the computer using a USB cord, but I can't figure out how to transfer it to make a DVD. I do have a DVD writer. When I try to copy it to the computer, it takes so long the battery always loses power. Any suggestions on how to do it? As far as software, my computer has ArcSoft Showbiz 2 (I am not sure if this is the right program) and Windows Movie Maker.

Can I copy directly from the Sony cam to a DVD? If so, how? I don't care about the editing right now. I just need to figure out how to get them off the tapes.

  • Anyone know this Christmas song?

I tried to ask yesterday - not a bite.

Starts out with a little boy singing The Little Drummer Boy to an acoustic guitar. Then, a woman comes in and says something like, "That's my boy." and it changes into an electronic/hip hop sounding medley of various Christmas carols. Any ideas????

  • Please give me your opinion on whether or not I should...?

My husband's mother has had a long history of blaming his friend for taking him away from his home city. That was more than 15 years ago. I now hold the blame card because he is staying here and not moving back. He flew out there a few times. And since I have known him (2002) he visited twice. We flew out there after Christmas 2003 so she could meet her granddaughter. A very strange visit to say the least. It was almost as if she didn't want us there. She refused to come to our wedding. Making excuse after excuse: Her job (she has weekends off), where would she stay (we would pay for her hotel), she can't afford a ticket (we'd buy her one.) She refused everything. My husband, since, refuses to talk to her. Not that she has tried to contact us. But, she doesn't even acknowledge our daughter. I continue to send pictures and cards at holidays. Although he doesn't want me to. Do you think I should keep sending them? Or just not bother. (By the way, its the same situation with his sister.)

  • Does anyone have this particular Pumpkin Pie Cake Recipe?

Between 1993-94, when I lived in Central NY, I was given a recipe for an out of this world 7-layer Cake that was out of this world. It had pumpkin filling as one layer. Yellow cake as another, and quite honestly I can't remember what else. I have seen other recipes out there for Pumpkin cakes, but, not this particular one. Unfortunately, I lost touch with everyone I gave the recipe too. Does anyone have it?

  • I need your suggestions on how best to respond and deal with my 4 1/2 year old's behavior!?

My daughter is a smart little girl. Affectionate, friendly, caring, communicative. She has begun to exhibit mean behavior at school. Hitting & throwing things, she even choked one of the boys today. She has had 2 reports in 2 days. When teachers try to talk to her she smiles, laughs, and even acts like she doesn't hear them. A little background: She is with us all of the time - except when she is at school. So, I know that she isn't learning the behaviors here. I don't believe in spanking children, and we are patient parents. Except for the normal tantrums, she is a very well mannered, polite little girl. So, I can't figure out why! I have taken her three favorite blankets and toys. She is not allowed on the computer. I have talked to her about being nice to friends, that hitting is not okay, etc. I don't know what else to do. I am afraid it's only going to get worse. To those who will advise me to spank - That is not an option! Please suggest other alternatives. Thank you!

  • 1996 Oldsmobile Ciera SL?

We have the opportunity to buy a 96 Oldsmobile Ciera SL. It only has 21,950 miles on it. This is actual. This is owned by an elderly couple who only drive it when they are here. They travel. The exterior is in mint condition. No dings, dents, or scratches. The rear seat looks like it was never used, and the front just as nice. The alternator was just replaced, the tires have little wear.

I intend on taking this to our mechanic to look over with a fine tooth comb. But, I am curious as to what it is worth. I am wondering if he is asking to much. Please let me know what you think this should sell for.

    Thanks!

  • I need help finding a specific children's novelty pillow!?

My daughter has a 12" deluxe animal cushion. Copyright 2005 by Angel Toy Corp. It has T.W.I.E S. San Francisco CA on it.

It is a rich turqouise colored pillow with a black and white panda bear taking up most of the front. The panda is raised, facing the left.

We purchased it at Walgreens almost a year ago. But, as recently as 3 weeks ago, they were still in stock - along with several other designs.

Now, they are nowhere to be found. I have been to at least 10 Walgreens around our city and not one store is carrying that style of pillow. (We also have a cat pillow and bunny pillow of the same style.)

Do you have any idea where or who I can contact to buy another Panda pillow? My daughter asked me more than 6 months ago to get one for her best friend for Christmas. Of course, I put it off.....

    Thanks for helping!
