  • Art deco lead light restoration (antique) - Replace pieces or have someone replicate the whole thing?

I bought an art deco kitchen buffet with lead light. A few of the pieces of the lead light are broken and I'd like them replaced. I was advised by a lead light repairer that it would be better for him to replicate the design for $200 per door. (Total $400).

I would have thought that he could keep all of the original glass, cut 4 new pieces and put new 'lead' in to hold it all together.

I'd be grateful for advice and / or a good lead light repairer in Melbourne, Vic.

  • Garden pests - should I throw all of my plants in the bin?

White fly, black flies in the dirt and milipedes in one pot. I have had a court yard garden with 20 pots for 5 years. Moving to a large garden and don't want to bring the problems with me...

I cant get rid of the whit fly. They like all of my planted and especially enjoy my parsley and lettuce. I wonder if I should just rip all the parsley and lettuce out and just target the other pots in the garden. It seems that the parsley is where they are infested.

I am desperate for advice. Should I get rid of all my plants and the soil, wash all the pots and then move into my new house?

I'm not really fussed by the fancy colours and marketing. Just want the best GHD for me. I have long hair. It's soft and plenty of it! It's not thick or wiry at all.

    Thanks for your help.

  • 5 year old male poodle - to desex or not to desex?

We've had our pet for 5 years. It's safe to say he rarely has an accident in our house. We do need to watch him like a hawk if we go visiting though. He does try to wonder out to find b*tches if we are nOt careful.

He is extremely bright and knows many commands - although he only does them if he 'feels' like it! We have started him at obedience school - only reason is we want him to come back when he's called in the park (or he darts off to wherever the othe dogs are) and to make him stop whining if we are at a cafe and he wants to go say hello to a fellow canine.

I felt that he was specially advanced at socializing, but was humiliated and shocked to find him for pissing on another dog's leg at dog training!! I didn't take him to traing for this - and found that out of nOwhere he pulled a sneaky one!!!

The traIner pulled me up and advised that in her opinion no dog is too old to be desexed to eliminate the above mentioned behaviors.

    What are your thoughts?

  • Wedding - PLEASE HELP!!?

I live in Australia and am 12 weeks from finalising our wedding.. I need advise on flowers - I'm thinking Of having white carnations for bridesmaids and pink carnations for me. My dress is a very light ivory and their dresses are a grey/blue.

The florist has Advised me that the brides maids should have the same siZe bouquet as mine because they are much broader than me. What are your thoughts on this?'

I'm only considering having pink because I think the white flowers with their dresses would look better and I don't want to have exactly the same?

Do you think it'd be nice if maybe they had carnations and I had just a bunch of baby's breath?

Also, what's a reasonable price to spend on centerpieces? Would you have carnations for this as well or would it be overkill with carnations?

What would you do for a centerpiece for the tables? They're square!

I'm feeling very lost and depressed that there is no one in my life that I can talk to abOut this sort of thing... I don't want to ask my fiancé as I feel like he's done enough and want to have some surprises !

  • why siblings fight so much?

I was always close to my sister (she's 10 years older than me). We used to fight about housework and things like that.

Why is it we irritate eachother so much? I feel like everytime I see her, she's said or done somehinh that has rubbed me up the wrong way and vise versa. She is always competing the story eg, my boss told me a secret. Then she will reply, "my boss always tells me secrets" or just out of nowhere shell mention how everyone wants to sleep with her now that she's lost weight. She makes comments like, oh I know a man who said he'd never fancy a woman under a size 10. (she's a 10 and I'm a 8). She always puts her nose in my business and makes sure she finds out exactly how much money me and my partner make but doesnt tell any of her financials. She makes us babysit her 6 kids all of the time and not just for a few hours, until early hours in the morning. If you suggest maybe she & her hubby should maybe come home at midnight, she has a real sook and manipulates us into sleeping on the couch and then come home at 2.45am! Then we are too tired to do anything the next day and are exhausted / depressed...

I'm really upset about this because I do love her.

Also she's always very 'generous' with money in some aspects but in others she makes up by advising you to bring money instead of food if you go to a family event (which she insists on hosting every time as she as 6kids). I'm a fantastic cook but can't bring food - it has to be cash...

Is this a normal sister relationship? All thoughts / ideas welcome.

  • How to tie a garden wedding ceremony into a beach front reception? (Wedding advice)?

We are getting Married in the garden of an old mansion. We will then have our 'after party' / reception at a venue with floor to ceiling glass looking onto a beach. Basically, if the glass wasn't there, you could touch the sand!

Is it silly for us to be having a garden wedding ceremony at an old mansion and then head off to this beach fronted reception venue for the after party?

We've always wanted a garden wedding with the bonus of an old mansion / old house to have our photo's in.

How could we tie the garden themed ceremony into the bayside venue?

My partner would also like to be in a coat and tails.

ANY ideas in terms of flowers, table arrangements, decorations, music, cake, cars.. anything advice is so very welcome.

  • Looking for a dog kennel in Melbourne / advice on a suitable dog kennel?

I am looking for a dog kennel / dog house for my little dog. He is a toy breed so I'm not sure if it matters if the dog house is specifically for small dogs or not?

I am looking for one in Melbourne. I don't know where I can purchase one for a good price...

I did try the warehouse in Northcote but it was a very big plastic one for $80.00ish. Can I just put some warm blankets in the bottom of that? Will that do him over winter days while I'm at work?

Any idea where I can get a suitable dog kennel OR any advice for me?

  • To Desex or Not to Desex - Male Dog Owners Please!?

    Breed: Toy Poodle

    Age: 6 months

He's an adorable red/apricot toy poodle that I may choose to breed one day.

    1) I don't want him getting my mum's dog pregnant (I don't mind de-sexing Mum's dog because we wont ever breed her)

    2) I don't want my little guy to pee everywhere on my friends/family's furniture when I take him visiting

    3) I don't want him to get territorial and wee everywhere inside MY house

I've never owned a male dog before and I'm not sure what to expect. Surely # 2 & 3 have a lot to do with the way I train him???

Please help me make a decision.

  • I need an Aussie fashion guru to help me with winter coat! (Melbourne)?

It's freezing here in Melbourne and I really need a winter coat to wear over my suit. I do wear high heels with my suits...

I'm thinking along the lines of a sexy cream trench coat or something like that, or a cute white coat - but I can't find any in the shops - and if I do they're ugly granny coats.

Where do I shop for trendy, sexy coats in Melbourne?

  • Fun, activities to do in TASMANIA?

My partner and I are going to Tasmania for 3 or 4 days. I'm 20 (he's a bit older) and we need things to do.

We are not interested in sight seeing.

Where can we play pool near Salamanca Place? (We'll have a car so we can travel).

I was going to organise a trip to the snow for some snowboarding although there is no SNOW! :(

Any wine tasting or anything like that? Can we do paint balling? Is there any theatres we could go see? Ballet? (Hehe! He'd love the ballet).

Please help me with entertainment in Tasmania!

    - My father owns a restaurant at Salamanca Pl so we'll definatley check out the Markets on Saturday.

We are arriving Thursday 12 July 2007.

    - also, we're from Melbourne.

I lost a court case that was c l e a r that I should have won. The evidence that I had and the LIES that they made were inconsistant - the judge even said so. My solicitor nearly fainted when we lost!

I'm positive that the judge has been bribed. What can I do?

  • What is the best / most durable material for shoes?

Please help me convince my partner that leather is the best for shoes!

He is very rough with his shoes and always ends up scuffing and completely wrecking them.

I make sure he gets the best shoes - we spent almost $ 230 on his last pair (which is $192 US). http://z.about.com/d/mensfashion/1/0/r/7/Asics.jpg <--- go to that link to see what they were like.

Now they're really stuffed (not even a year later). NOT TO MENTION THE GUY HAS AN OFFICE JOB!!!

Anyway, we were arguing over coffee this morning because I said the best material is leather and he said 'No it's not durable and its scuffs and wrecks really easily'. (No duh because he doesn't use any product, doesn't polish or clean them..)

    I know synthetic sucks because:

    it sweats and stinks

once its scuffed, you can't buff it out

they don't stretch so they hurt forever (bad for your feet).

He wont listen to me, maybe after reading your thoughts on the topic he will become a little more educated about quality.
