Ok? About me. Well, I guess, like Shrek, I've got a lot of layers. You're as likely to catch me reading a book about quantum physics or astrophysics as you are to catch me watching cartoons. I was raised catholic but I really made a lousy christian(I think too much) so I've pretty much adopted a sort of taoism/buddhism sort of a hybridized philosophical buffet. The reasoning is that they don't exclude newer logics like evolution and the earth being round and revolving around the sun. Also, in 2500 years no one has ever killed anyone in the name of "Buddha". It would be tantamount to murder in the name of Sigmund Freud or Friedrich Nietzsche or Socrates which would just be silly. I'll take sailing over powerboating, riding a bike over driving a car, a campground over a hotel and a PC over a Mac. But then I am a programmer by profession. Divorced and not looking. I've only got room for one needy female in my life and she's my little girl. Think: "Once bitten, twice shy."

  • I need to know if I have a legal recourse after being harassed by local teenagers.?

I live in a small town in Ohio. I usually walk or ride my bike everywhere I go. Several(and by several I mean upwards of 20) kids in this town are basically making a game out of annoying me. Most of the time they just honk at me. But they've also screamed insults at me, made lewd remarks, flipped me off and on two occassions threw something at me. All from the safety of their moving cars. I can barely even leave my apartment without being harassed.

If I get their plate numbers can the police do anything about it? Isn't this conspiracy to menace or something.

  • When is Yahoo Instant Messenger going to do something about spammers?

I have the email, instant messenger, the phone service. I use Answers... I love yahoo. But, at LEAST once a day I get sexually explicit I.M.'s or some scammer from Ghana or Nigeria. It's extremely annoying. If reporting them as spam included reporting there IP's then blocking those scumbags might actually stop them but with the infinite number of YIM ID's you can get from one computer we'll never stop them by just reporting the individual users.

I may just be venting a little. Sorry.

  • Hey! Albanians! Can anyone give me a definition for "Code of Lech"?

I heard it referenced once on TV and was wondering if it was something not spoken of or if it's even real at all.

  • How old does a child have to be to be left home alone LEGALLY in Ohio?

My daughter is 11. She won't be 12 until Nov 2008. I work at the school across the street so I'll be in and out of my apartment all day but I just don't want the hassle of a babysitter. I'm ok with it if it's necessary but if it's not then I won't.

  • What happens when a rocky planet gets too big?

"Portugese astronomers have presented findings indicating that they've detected an enormous rocky planet orbiting the star mu Arae. Scientists say that this planet is probably as large as a rocky world can become, roughly the size of the planet Uranus - about 14 times the size of Earth."

"this planet is probably as large as a rocky world can become"...

Before what? If one more meteorite hits it does it become a blackhole?

This is what I get for waxing scientific while drinkin'.

  • Can you name this movie?

It was basically a rip off of "Alien" It took place in some kind of research facility on a planet with a thin atmosphere. Between about 1979 and 1986.

The story goes something like this:

Professor mutates some alien tissue. Alien grows and manages to "infect" some of the people who's tissues start to breakdown into some sort of basic protein. Only the victims don't die the just sort of become gelatinous blobs that divide like primitive cells. It turns out that the basic gelatinous protein blobs are alien food.

The professor(who smokes too much) is discussing things with a big robot with the voice of a little boy. The robot says something about the professor's cancer. The professor asks "How did you know about that?" and the robot replys "I've seen it before, sir." The professor, apparently a very private man, turns off the robot.

At the end the professor has the hero literally rip the tumor from his liver and feed it to the alien which kills it. The alien not the cancer.

  • What time does Guide+ Plus update it's TV listings?

My TV has Guide+ Plus on it. You tell it your zip code and it downloads a TV guide directly to the TV. My power went out a few days ago so I went through the setup again and it told me to leave my TV off overnight. I don't THINK that that means 24 hours but it hasn't updated yet. I'm curious to know when the best time to leave it off is.

  • Are there any planetary bodies in our solar system with significant amounts of nitrogen?

    Besides the earth.

All the talk about terra-forming Mars, though not completely meritless, seems to focus on getting oxygen onto Mars.

Mars has oxygen it's just bound to carbon. Plants could fix that.

Martian air needs to be like 80% nitrogen to be breathable and non volitile.
