  • Could we create alternate personalities to run our lives?

My idea is this: Imagine a hypothetical brain modification that allows us to create an alternate personality that would take over and handle things for us when we want it to. This personality could go to work for you, go grocery shopping, exercise, attend social events that you don’t want to go to, or anything else. Meanwhile, your conscious mind is off in a Matrix-like dream world that you can create just by imagining it. This world would feel completely real. The people, objects, and scenery would be mental constructs in your own inner world, and they would all be exactly what you want. You can return to the real world anytime you wish, or you can tell your alternate personality to disengage and give you back control at a given time. Essentially, this alternate personality would be the neurological equivalent of a computer program. It would have access to all the information stored in your brain, and could carry out your daily activities with the same level of proficiency as you.

  • Is “nationalism” the new bad word for liberals?

For some reason, “nationalism” has become the new n-word for many leftists. Nationalism is patriotism. It mean that you love your country, and care about your own nation’s best interests. Of course, there are extremist versions of that which clearly aren’t good, but in most cases it’s good old fashioned patriotism. Globalism is a fantasy that would never work. The whole planet cannot function as one big country under one government. Who would decide what that government is? People in different cultures have different ideas as to what a government should be. A planetary government would be battling never ending insurgencies.

  • Why is my iPad losing it’s touch sensitivity?

Many times, I need to press an icon or a letter numerous times before my iPad responds. It’s less than a year old, and iPads usually last me at least two years.

  • Will wearing an "Oh Long Johnson" shirt make me look gay?

Does everyone know about the "Oh Long Johnson" cat from Youtube and America's Funniest Videos? I plan on buying a shirt that reads "Oh Long Johnson", and it has the cat's face on it. However, the term "Johnson" can also refer to a penis, so I'm worried that people might think that my shirt refers to liking a long penis. Will most people know what my shirt refers to?

  • Why are the Israelis supporting the Syrian (al Queda) rebels?

I realize that they're mad at Assad. He's not Israel's buddy. However, stop and think about what will happen if the rebels win. It's common knowledge that they're al Queda. They're been murdering Christians, Jews, and other Muslims of different sects. If the rebels win, al Queda will be in power in Syria. Do Israelis really think that the new Syrian government will be their friend? The rebels are many times worse than Assad. It will light the entire Middle East on fire, and there will be rampant bloodshed all over the Islamic world, and the Israelis will be facing enemies far worse than the ones that they're facing now.

  • What is the site that writes references for you?

Somewhere, there is a link to a site that creates references for you. All you need to do is fill in the information (author, date, website, etc.) and it creates references for you. It puts them into APA format too. Does anyone have the link? Thanks

  • When will a verdict in the George Zimmerman trial be reached?

  • American Idol: Kree or Candice?

I'm torn. I have no idea which one to vote for. They're both great. I voted for Candice once, then I changed my mind and voted for Kree twice, but I might change my mind again now and vote for Candice twice. Which is better? Which is more skilled? Personally, I don't like Country music or R&B music, so odds are, I wouldn't buy either of their albums. However, I'd probably hear them on the radio. I've been watching all season, and I want to make the right choice. What do you think?

  • Why do people get mad at Christianity for it's rejection of homosexuality?

Everyone keeps going on and on about how "homophobic" Christianity is. Newsflash: Judiasm and Islam also reject homosexuality, and historically, Buddhism and Hinduism haven't accepted it either. Pro-gay people just fly into an anti-Christian frenzy and their brains completely turn off. THINK.

  • Does Hinduism condemn or condone rape?

I'm having a hard time getting an answer to this question. I posted this question on a Hindu forum, and it was blocked by the moderators. I e-mailed this question to a Hindu news site and a Hindu temple near me - neither one responded. There's over a billion people in India and millions of Hindus around the world, so if any of you are reading this, please give me an authoritative answer based on Hinduism's teachings. Thank you.

  • Does Hinduism really condone rape?

I realize that Hinduism doesn't have one official holy book like the 3 Abrahamic religions do, but I'm wondering if there is any canon Hindu material that takes a stance on the issue of rape.

  • The big question: Are the ricin mailings and the Boston Marathon bombings connected?

If they're not, then it would bear a disturbing resemblance to 9/11. On 9/11, there were multiple bombings and an allegedly unrelated anthrax mailing attack. In this case, there were several bombs placed, and a possibly unrelated ricin mailing attack. It's such an odd and troubling coincidence.

  • Were the bombers of the Boston Marathon Islamic extremists?

At this point, no one knows for certain, but an Israeli news agency published an article titled "Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah Celebrate Boston Terror Attack". If you search for it, it'll be the first article. Numerous Islamic terrorist organizations are cheering the assault, and while this doesn't necessarily prove guilt, it does seem to point in their direction.

  • Was the Tibetan Buddhist theocracy as bad as the Chinese communists claim it was?

The Chinese paint a bleak picture of life in Tibet prior to the communist takeover. They talk of the Lamas brutally oppressing people, forcing them into slavery, and grossly abusing the commoners. They also talk of the people living in extreme poverty while the monks lived lavishly. How much of this is true? I'd heard conflicting stories, and many Tibetans claim that these claims are lies, and that life was good under the Lamas. How much of what we've heard is just communist propaganda used to validate the domination of the Tibetan people?

  • Could the current pope be brought up on criminal charges?

For anyone that hasn't realized this, he is resigning over the sex abuse scandal. From a legal perspective, he knew about many priests that were molesting children, he had the evidence in his hand, and he buried it. To bury evidence of a crime IS A CRIME in and of itself. If you own a company, and you bury evidence of one of your employees committing a crime, then you too can be brought up on criminal charges. First and foremost, the Catholic Church is an organization, and no organization (no matter how large, how powerful, how old, or how popular) is above the law. "Evidence suppression" is a crime that people have gone to prison for. Staunch Catholics can believe that the pope is just one notch below an angel if they want to, but he is a man. To elevate any person to the level of God or the divine (above the rest of humanity) is a slap in the face to God and to reason, but that's just my opinion. What's NOT opinion is the FACT that evidence suppression is a CRIME.

  • The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun?

When the police were moving Lee Harvey Oswald from a holding cell to another jail, Jack Ruby walked right up and shot him. A bunch of armed good guys (the cops) weren't able to stop one armed bad guy. The NRA obviously hasn't studied history.

  • Does anyone else feel that the Holidays were "ruined" by the Sandy Hook school shooting?

It just didn't feel like the holidays this year. It felt more like a nation-wide funeral. I can just imagine how the parents of those children felt. They had presents wrapped for Christmas and everything. What would you even do with the gifts? My mom told me that it was like a morgue where she works.

  • How can I get an iTunes file onto my iPhone?

I created my own ringtone by converting an mp4 to an aac file. I then e-mailed the file to myself, but I can't download it. The size shouldn't be a problem, since it's only 4.7 MB. Any advice?

  • Are Muslim radicals in Egypt talking about destroying the ancient Egyptian pyramids?

I heard this rumor, and was sickened. Supposedly, they consider them to be "pagan symbols", and they might be considering destroying them, just as they destroyed the giant Buddha statues in Afghanistan. Does anyone have any specific information on this? The pyramids are some of the most significant accomplishments in human history, and destroying them would be a crime against humanity as far as I'm concerned. The international community must do something if this is the case.
