Does anyone else feel that the Holidays were "ruined" by the Sandy Hook school shooting?

It just didn't feel like the holidays this year. It felt more like a nation-wide funeral. I can just imagine how the parents of those children felt. They had presents wrapped for Christmas and everything. What would you even do with the gifts? My mom told me that it was like a morgue where she works.

Good point, ISJL. 18,000 children under five die EVERY DAY from malnutrition and hunger-related diseases. If it is not in our backyard, we don't pay attention.

Children die every day in higher amount than by that tragic shooting. Mourn 24/7 if anything about how unsafe this world is; clearly we need to take action and sensibly legislate.

The media needs to be honest about statistics and the causes of death in this world. The average human mind on its own cannot discern the relative risk of a situation accurately.

It still is a sad thing that happened that people are sinful and do evil things, but it shouldn't be thought of as some isolated event that never happens in this world.

There are 1277 people murdered every day on average in this world. (Using 2012 world statistics from the link)

US media really play it up a lot more when it happens on US soil, or happens to Americans (not on US soil).

However there are murders and children dying throughout the world daily, they just don't get remotely anywhere as close media attention as Sandy Hook did.

I didn't feel that my holidays were ruined, but I have continued to feel very angry about this. Then the other day, when I heard on the news about some woman pushing a man in front of a train in New York (or was it New Jersey?), I became angry again. What right does a person have to decide someone is to die? These people have their lives to live. I am convinced (okay, now I'm going to get spiritual) that we have invited a spirit of murder into our country--this invitation was the result of Roe vs Wade: the killing of innocent lives. And that happens EVERY day in our country.

If anybody feels that way then he has succeeded. Why die a nothing when you could die famous, and remembered by everybody. Even if you had to do something horrible to achieve it. That is what men like that are seeking. Our corrupt media and citizens that praise it are to blame for this new trend of violent crime. I am very sorry for the people that suffered great loss and can't imagine what they are going thru. But I don't think any one of them would want it to ruin the celebration of Chistmas. And I am absolutely positive that none of the victims themselves would want us to feel that way. So instead of stewing about it, maybe we should do something to prevent it. Like stop craving bad news! But who wants to hear about something good that happened today eh? Ya, thats the problem.

arnie many colleges in the US have cops assigned to them are not they the comparable as armed guards..... In a not suited international basically the stable adult adult males might turn of their weapons and we'd be helpless and on the mercy of the undesirable adult adult males.Too undesirable we can by no skill be attentive to if a police officer became into assigned to that school how many lives ought to he have saved. drugs and inebriated driving have been a criminal offense for years and that doesn't help. shall we use the money we provide to international locations that dislike us,our young infants are extra considerable!!

    it was tragic indeed.

But its only tragic in the news media if it involves guns, because of politics.

where are the “News Specials” on alcohol? Who speaks out for over 7 million young children that live a life of child abuse, incest, and torture because of alcohol. Their little life is a hell on earth because of alcohol!

And nobody dares utter a bleep?

    And nobody protest?? hmmmm...

    • There are over 18 million alcoholics in America.

    • Cirrhosis of the liver kills over 30,000 each year and rising.

    • 50 percent of the people on welfare are due to alcohol.

    • 80 percent of all fire deaths are due to alcohol.

    • 65 percent of all drownings

    • 22 percent of home accidents

    • 77 percent of falls

    • 36 percent of pedestrian accidents

    • 65 percent of all murders

    • 40 percent of all assaults

    • 35 percent of all rapes

    • 30 percent of other sex crimes

    • 30 percent of all suicides

    • Over 80 percent of all arrests are linked to

    alcohol!

    • 60 PERCENT OF ALL CHILD ABUSE IS DUE TO ALCOHOL!

The news media generate protest to cause political unrest and sell media, they stop at nothing to achieve their political and moneytary $$$$ agendas... YET the hypocrites..... DON’T DARE EVEN MENTION ALCOHOL!
