  • How many minutes per hour does an air conditioner cycle last?

for a 12,000 BTU wall air conditioner cooling a ~500 square foot apartment in Central New York, which is a humid climate. Based on those numbers how many minutes per hour would the air conditioner run?

Also, should I shut my air conditioner off at night to save electricity (There is a ceiling fan in the bedroom in this apartment)

  • Does anyone have an honest review on Rabbit TV Plus?

I know youtube is flooded with reviews on the old rabbit tv (back when you had to have the USB dongle) but cannot find any good reviews on Rabbit TV Plus. I am wondering if anyone has or knows of a good review of Rabbit TV Plus. What I am wondering is does it have the newest episodes of cable TV shows (History Channel shows for example) and if the shows I search for when I view their sample guide have full episodes even though I can't find them anywhere online.

Please enlighten me on this and go into detail, I do not mind a lengthy answer.

  • Are thefile.me and mightyupload.com illegal?

I know bitTorrent and uTorrent are because they create a permanent copy of the file on your computer and you are essentially stealing the content, but what about mightyupload.com and thefile.me where you are downloading the file temporarily and then it gets deleted automatically when you are done watching it or after a certain period of time. Are sites like that legal? Also, what about sites that stream the content through links?

  • How much are cable TV taxes and fees in Upstate NY?

I live in Upstate NY and am trying to decide whether or not to sign up for cable or go internet only.

    My provider is Time Warner.

I am wondering, after 2 years if I am paying the retail rate of $82.99, how much should cable TV taxes and fees add on extra? I know I will be paying a $2.75 sports network fee and a $2.75 broadcast network fee as well as $2.75 for a digital adapter. Other than those, what else will I be paying?

  • Why is streaming live TV and live sports illegal?

I know it's very illegal but I just wanna know why?

I have posted questions on here about sites like primewire and project free tv and know that they are illegal because even though I am just streaming, streaming produces a copy on your computer that is stored offline. Is this the same for streaming live tv on sites like Live TV Cafe and Stream2watch?

I won't use them either way as they are quite sketchy but I am just curious.

  • will I pick up FM Radio reception in the basement?

I have a sony iPod dock with a clock radio with digital tuning. I currently live on the 2nd floor of a townhouse and am wondering............... If I lived in a basement apartment, would I still be able to pick up my favorite local FM radio stations in the basement? The radio has a wire antenna that I run up the wall to the ceiling. Since I am on the 2nd floor, I even pick up my local ESPN channel (which is the channel I want the most so I can listen to the Mets games on the radio to keep up with them. (I will not have cable when I move out and.) if I put the radio on top of my filing cabinet and run the antenna up to the ceiling or by the window, will I pick up reception, and if so, will I pick up the ESPN channel?

  • Is it hotter in a brick building in the summer than in a frame building?

This one apartment complex I am looking at for a move in a few years is a nice complex, I like it but I have noticed a couple of things.

the buildings are made of brick on the outside and there is some mold on the exterior above the doorway to the main building.

There is some brown stuff on the outside around the air conditioners (the air conditioners are old 12,000 BTU wall air conditioners, not in good shape) I am assuming that means that the air conditioner only cools the living room and doesn't reach the bedroom due to floor plan design or another reason but I could be wrong.

I don't know if the mold on the outside of the buildings could mean that they are not insulated or underinsulated but the mold is only on the outside of the main doorway and I have talked to people that have been in there and have read reviews online and none of them mention mold IN the apartments, so there likely is none in there.

Any way, if the above details doesn't have anything to do with it, assuming there is insulation in the outside walls, there is no central air conditioning, and the apartment is located in Central New York where it does get hot and humid in the summer.

I have provided as much details as I can, any way, the main question is; I have heard that brick is a good insulator and helps keep the hot air out but I have also heard that brick heats up and keeps the heat in and causes it to be hotter in summer and colder in winter................. which is correct?
