  • Help the guy that started my subdivision is being troublesome, opinions please!?

I purchased a home in a small new subdivision in Missouri in August and at that time there was a sign naming the subdivision across the street from my house on the corner. My house is on a corner lot and there was no mention of a sign in the corner of my lot verbally or in writing at the time of purchase. The day before yesterday I came home from work and had a pile of brick sitting in my yard. I started to investigate and learned the guy that is doing the subdivision is putting it up. I questioned him and he said that the land was his and he would build a sign how he wanted and where he wanted. He also told me that he talked to the city which is a small town and they authorized for him to do so and no one from the city or the developer said a word other than dropping material off in my yard.

This guy might be able to construct a sign on the corner of my lot but I THINK it has to be outside of my property line and in the easement. How should I handle this?

  • Can you take a dozen eggs, a case of pop or a case of oil through a checkout that is '10 Items or Less'?

Do you think its morally wrong to do such a thing, what if we have to answer for sliding by with such behavior when we depart from this world. Or did you not think about your wrongdoing? I confess, I do it all the time cause I am a risktaker! Any other confessions or opinions?

  • Will a heat pump upgrade be worth it?

I purchased a new 1,850sq ft home in August that is all electric with no heat pump. The furnace is heat pump compatible and has two 60 amp breakers for heating and blower operation. I live in Missouri and spend 300.00+ a month for electricity so far this winter. I talked to the builder and can upgrade to a heatpump for $1,000.00 since he offered to credit me for the regular A/C unit he had installed.

If I choose to do this I can also stage the heat strips for when the unit outside cannot keep up or keep them all coming on at one time to give full heat, but it would be the same as no heat pump if the heat strips were on.

I think I should be able to cut my electric bill in half or close to it unless it is extremely cold out, well I would like to. Is this a good decision and if I do upgrade to a heatpump should I have the heat strips staged for auxillary and emergency heat or just leave them all linked together?

The unit is a 13 seer 3.5 ton heatpump.

  • What is the best method to clean and seal tile.?

I have floor tile in the bathrooms and entryway and am looking for the best way to clean and seal them. I also have hardwood in the kitchen and am not sure how often to clean it and treat it other than just running a dust mop over it every couple days. The house is new and I would like to keep it looking that way as long as possible!
