  • Is it possible to get a sim contract with just calls and texts?

My mum's got an old Nokia brick, and only uses it for texting, so actually texts alone would be great. At the moment though, she is spending quite a lot of money on it. I've had a look around for a sim-only deal or pay-as-you-go deal but they're more expensive than what she currently spends because they include internet - which obviously, she couldn't use if she wanted to. Therefore I was wondering if anyone knew about a plan that doesn't include internet?

  • Does the UK need more forensic psychologists?

I'm thinking about going into forensic psychology, but I was wondering how good my job chances would be. For example they're really pushing engineers at the moment because we appear to be massively lacking, but I was wondering if this applies to forensic, or any area of psychology.

  • Question about the marking of language analysis in English essays?

I was wondering if you always have to state a piece of language analysis clearly, or if you can just sort of allude to it and it will still be considered analysis.

    For example, I've written

A moment in time can pass unnoticed or can seem like an eternity, demonstrated by the comparison of the rose and yew-tree, yet scientifically their “duration” is the same.

Now I could write something alone the lines of

Eliot uses the scientific word "duration" to demonstrate that logically each moment lasts the same amount of time, but instead they can seem like an eternity or pass unnoticed, demonstrated by the comparison of the rose and the yew tree.

There is no doubt that the second one is clear language analysis, but I'm massively over my word count so have written the first option to keep the word count down. It does refer to the fact that it is a comparison between the scientific duration and perception, but it doesn't state it obviously. Therefore does it still count as language analysis?

  • There's various things wrong with my computer - please help!?

First of all, I can't open windows defender, firewall, or any of the security things.

The firewall is not on; if I try and open it to turn it on, it says "Windows firewall was unable to make the requested updates", or if I try to check firewall settings, it says that because of an unidentified problem, I can't see it. I can't get windows defender to do a scan, as when I click on that it says "Application failed to initialize: 0x80070006. The handle is invalid". Plus the security simply "could not be started".

Also, a little thingy (that's such a technical term) KEEPS popping up saying "host process for windows services stopped working and was closed". Every time I close that thingy, it pops right back up again and it's kinda driving me nuts... I don't even know what host process for windows services is.

And finally, I un-installed abobe flash player 11 the other day because when I installed the update for it all the problems started, so I thought it might be connected. On hindsight, I think it was just a coincidence. Anyway, so now I am trying to reinstall it but it won't let me, saying it's already on the machine... which it's not.

Using Malwarebytes anti-malware programme I've done a full scan, 2 in fact, and it did pick some things up; it got rid of them but it hasn't changed anything.

Apart from these things, my computer is running fine; it's not slow at all, it's not randomly closing programmes or coming up with virusy-looking things. So it's not actually too much of a problem but I don't like the fact that my windows defender and firewall is down...

Any help would be much appriciated; thank you! :)

  • How can I get the top note of F major chord to sound clearly?

On guitar, not the fully barred one - where you just do

    E - 1

    B - 1

    G - 2

    D - 3

    A - 0

    E - 0

When I'm finger picking it (I think that's the term? Sorry, bit of a teach-myself beginner) the top E string never sounds clear, unless I do some crazy twisted thing which means I can't play the D and G string.

    Any suggestions? Thank you x

  • When is it legal to have an abortion in the UK?

I know that the 1967 Abortion Act states that abortion is legal if it is to save the mother, reduce risk of physical/mental health to mother/existing children, or if the child will be born disabled. I also know that in the 1990 Act the time limit is 24 weeks.

What I'm confused about is - does that mean that the mother has to be in danger etc AND the pregnancy has to be less than 24 weeks in? Or are the first things I mentioned only brought in when the mother wants an abortion after 24 weeks? Is it possible to have an abortion before 24 weeks WITHOUT any issues of health for the mother, existing children or baby?

Please keep the language simple - I'm doing religious studies, not law! Thanks :)

  • Do stars have any kind of cycle?

I'm pretty sure stars don't die and then somehow get reborn, but I was wondering if there is anything in the 'life' of a star that is like some kind of cycle. Something that the star does that repeats endlessly... preferably something that has a sequence, not just a short moment in time.

If they don't, then just say so.

I know this is kind of strange, but I'm creating a dance and drama piece based on stars - I'm clutching at straws here...

  • Dances, music and physical theatre about stars?

Name of the piece and choreographer/composer for pieces about, based on or inspired by the theme of stars (celestial bodies, not famous people) or myths/beliefs about stars. Can be any style of dance or music, and video links would be much appreciated.

I know this is a strange request but if you search anything with the words 'dance' and 'star' in, you just get a load of talent show things, so if any humans know of any dance, music or theatre pieces about stars that would be great. Thank you :)

  • How do you pick up a small dog safely?

My Jack Russel has started to shy away when I try to pick her up, so I think I hurt her a little the first time and now she's a bit scared. I really need to pick up though because she can't get up and down the stairs (they're very steep.) I could do with a step by step guide, because I'm so scared of hurting her, not just a photo. Thank you x

  • Was this a phone hoax?

I had a phone call from 'windows' saying there were hidden problems with my computer... they showed me errors on my computer, the 'junk files' I have got on my computer (I couldn't tell what they were) and then gave me the ID number of my computer. They said they were getting information sent to their centre by my computer or something.

I didn't tell them anything because I wasn't sure if it was a hoax. They had just passed me onto a senior manager person when I hung up.

Has anyone else had something like this?

  • Can you put a guitar strap on any guitar?

I'm going to be getting the Falcon FG100N Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar, and I would like to have a strap, but I have no idea if the guitar has to have a special thing to get the strap on or something, or if straps go on all guitars.

  • Should I go to university or drama school?

My parents really want me to go to university. They both went to university and me not going to uni is the equivalent to me getting a tattoo or a nose piercing - a complete no-no. But I know that you have to be young to be a successful, well-known actor! And if I go to uni THEN drama school, I'll be practically ancient lol. My drama teacher also wants me to go to uni first but she wants me to be a stage actress whereas I would like to do mostly tv and movies. So what do you think I should do? I'm really not so keen on going to both, I'd rather go straight to drama school...

  • What is an actors resumé?

Actors have resumés, yes? I have no idea what they are!

    What do they include?

    How do I get one?

    When can I get one (I'm 15)?

Kind of connected (I think!) - do actors use CVs?

  • Any tips on what else I could do to become an actress?

I'm 15 and I want to be a movie and tv actress. I was just wondering if what I am doing is enough, and if there is anything else that would be good for me to do?

I have joined my local theatre group, and I will be auditioning for the national youth theatre (that's UK, fyi) in February. I have taken part, and will continue to take part in every school production for experience and general practice. I am also jumping at ever opportunity that pops up, including an audition for a Sally Potter film and entering the bbc Schools Shakespeare "off by heart" competition. I am getting lots of experience with performing in general as I am part of 2 choirs (one of which is international) a vocal ensemble, a medieval music singing quartet, and I go to a dance school which does performances once a year at places such as disney land, royal albert hall and her Majesty's theatre. I am planning to get an agent in year 12 after I have done my GCSEs - I've heard you can only get one after drama school, but I know someone in year 12 with an agent, so is that a teenage or child agent or something? And of course I am doing expressive arts GCSE (as you can't take just drama at my school) and once I have done A-level film studies and theatre studies, I will go onto drama school.

Is there anything else I could do? I also have a few questions

Resume... Help?! What is this? How do you get one? When can you get one?

Do actors have CVs? Everyone is always talking about "oh you can put this on your CV" but do actors even use CVs?

Finally, my parents really want me to go to university. They both went to university and me not going to uni is the equivalent to me getting a tattoo or a nose piercing - a complete no-no. But I know that you have to be young to be a successful, well-known actor! And if I go to uni THEN drama school, I'll be practically ancient lol. My drama teacher also wants me to go to uni first but she wants me to be a stage actress whereas I would like to do some stage, but mostly tv and movies. So what do you think I should do?

And finally, to those of you who are here to say "you'll never make it as an actress get a proper job" or something along those lines - I will not hear what you have to say. People like you just make me want to try harder. And to those of you who are going to tell me it's very hard to be an actress and it will take a lot of work... I know, that's why I'm starting as early as I can to do as much as I can.

    Thank you.

  • Is 5 foot too short to be an actress?

I really want to be a film and tv actress, but as my mum is only 5 foot and my dads only like, 5 foot 4, I don't think that I'm going to get much bigger than I am now, which is 5 foot. So I was wondering; do you think this will affect my chances?

Btw, "theatregleek" if you find this, I'm not interested in what you have to say, you dream crusher.

  • My drama teacher is being really confusing?

I am officially "gifted and talented" drama, which means I am one of 5 people in the school who have been picked as super good at drama. My drama teacher keeps telling me I am truly amazing. But I have been in 3 school productions now, and I have always been a really minor part, for example "senator 1" in macbeth. We did auditions for a bbc schools shakespeare competition and there were 10 people chosen from the first round, then from the second round 3 people were chosen to actually go to the bbc competition. I got to the second round but no further. Also, in my drama assessments I have been getting low marks. All of these things are entirely governed by my drama teacher so she is the one who is not putting me through or whatever, but the moment she sees me at another time "oh Izzy you're so wonderful so talented" and I just don't know what to think anymore! I'm losing faith in my ability!

  • I want to be an actress; how do I stop people doubting me?

I'm 15 so I get the question "what do you want to be when you're older?" a lot. EVERY single time, after I say actress, they say "oh... what's your plan B?" It's so annoying! Not once has anyone said "oh, what kind?" or anything like that. I keep telling everyone I will keep trying and trying and that I have the passion but they're always telling me I need a plan b. I do have a plan b by the way, it's just so annoying that people don't seem to have any faith in me at all. Not even my parents, who normally support me with everything!
