  • Can engine oil evaporate? If so, how fast?

I had the oil changed in my 1998 Toyota Camry on 6/28. Today (8/5), after experiencing a loss of power and knocking sounds coming from the engine, my mechanic found the engine almost seized up and damage that will mean either a new engine or a rebuild due to there being less than a quarter of oil in the engine. There was no sign of an oil leak. The only repair made to the engine since the oil change was to replace a busted air intake hose. The temperature where I am has been warm, daytime highs in the mid to upper 90s. Is there any way this much oil could have evaporated in this time? Any other reason why my car could have used this much oil?

  • I need help from someone with extensive knowledge of NC law!?

My boyfriend terminated a verbal employment contract he had with a company. This company was paying him under the table; therefore, there are no official records of his employent with this company. Today, I went with him to attempt to collect the money owed him.

One of the owners of the company became very disrespectful toward him (the reason my boyfriend terminated the contract in the first place) & threatened legal action that could potentially put him in jail (my boyfriend has a record, but is now a law-abiding citizen). The reports from my boyfriend's former coworkers that the owner spoke of when he threatened my boyfriend were lies, as we came to find out later today.

Besides working to bring the other illegal activities at the place of employment to light, what can my boyfriend legally do to obtain the money he is owed? Is this one threat enough to file harassment charges?

By the way, my boyfriend has written documentation through text messages from his former co-workers that the lies told in the threat from the owner of the company are indeed lies. Also, the co-owner has texted my boyfriend telling him that he would recieve every bit of the money owed him (my boyfriend still has this text message).

  • Help with an Old House?

I live in a 2 story house built in 1932. The exterior of the house is stucco. I have recently noticed the interior walls in the upstairs bathroom (covered in disgusting gold paneling from last century) are bowing in. Today, I heard a creaking coming from one of the bowed walls. Any ideas what may be going on?

  • Need home loan assistance?

I am looking to purchase a home, whether it be stick-built or manufactured. I have full-time employment with a yearly salary of $30,000. I currently pay $650/month in rent. The only problem is that is have student loan debt, which is throwing my debt to income ratio above that allowed for a conventional loan & decreasing my credit score. Does anyone know of a program/individual who can assist me in my endeavour?

  • How can I save a copy of emails to a server from Windows Mail Live?

When I searched for the answer to this question, I received directions to go to Tools, click Options, click Email Accounts, choose the email account I would like to change, click Properties, click on the Advanced tab, and make sure "Leave a copy of mail on the server" is checked. However, when I follow these instructions, the Delivery list under the Advanced tab in the Properties window is not listed on my computer. Does anyone know another way to change this setting or why this setting is not appearing on my computer? By the way, my computer is a workstation only.

  • Stuffing/Dressing in Bread Machine?

I would like to make stuffing/dressing (depending on what you call it) in my bread machine for this year's Thanksgiving dinner. Has anyone done this? Is it possible to make the actual stuffing/dressing and not a bread (as all the recipes I have found are for)?

  • Is this an AIM virus?

Today I received an IM from a friend on my buddy list that asked for permission for a file transfer, which I allowed, since she is on my buddy list. However, when I asked her about it later, in person, she said she didn't do it. Is it possible that this is an AIM virus?

  • Where can I find detailed explanations of the NC Star Ratings for daycares?

I would like to report a daycare that I believe is not worthy of their star rating. In order to check myself, I would like a detailed explanation of the star ratings in NC. I have checked the state's official website, but found only summaries of the regulations, not detailed explanations. Is there any other place that would have this information?

  • How to save an internet explorer screen when the toolbar is missing?

Okay, so, I'm working on applying to community colleges for the 2nd degree of my life. After applying to two colleges with no problems, the third one gave me an internet explorer window with no toolbar, just the web address. I need to save the last page from my application, because I have to print it and send it to the college. I can't print from my computer, because I have no ink and have no money to buy ink. How can I save the screen to my computer (i.e. keyboard shortcut, etc.)?

  • What should I do?

I know that this is a question that gets asked frequently, but I want to ask it again and see what people's responses will be to my particular situation. I have a best guy friend that I'm pretty much in love with. I've known him for over a year and we've got to know each other pretty well in that year. Lately, we've both been flirting with each other a lot more. However, I can't tell if he feels the same way about me as I do about him. I'm afraid to ask him in case he doesn't. If it turns out that he doesn't feel the same way and it gets really awkward between us, I have lost a best friend and it will make things really awkward in our circle of friends. (We hang out with the same people, pretty much all the time.) Spring Break started this past Friday and he left for his home state Thursday morning, which has only made me realize more how I feel. Should I take it to the next level after Break or wait for him to make a move?

  • Getting Rid of Hives?

So, I have my first case of hives (it was an allergic reaction to a hamster). Is there anyway of getting rid of them without using neosporin or benadryl (I'm highly allergic to both of these medications)? Also, the hamster has been removed from my presence for 2 days now and the hives still itch and are getting bigger. Is this a sign that they are coming from something else? I have a bad cold (possibly the flu). Could these hives be coming from the flu virus I have? Thanks in advance.

  • Is it likely that this is the same?

When I was younger, I had a hamster that my mom had to give to someone else, because I had allergic reactions to it every night. Everytime I went into my room, I became sick to my stomach. This weekend I bought a Siberian Dwarf Hamster that will be staying in my room. How likely is it that I will have the same allergic reaction to this hamster that I did when I was younger? At the time of the first hamster, I was in elementary school. Now, I am 21.

  • Weird Rash on Hands?

I have a rash on my hand that is right under my thumb, extending to my wrist, over to right under my index finger. It burns when warm water hits it and lotion does not help. I work at a daycare and wash my hands numerous times per day, so I thought it was dry skin, but changed my mind when the extra-moisturizing lotion didn't help. I also have a cold with severe congestion. Are the cold and rash connected? Is it some childhood disease I picked up from the kids at the daycare? What could it be?

  • Exercise During a Bad Cold?

So, here's the problem. As of right now, I have a cold with severe congestion in my nose (as in, I can't breath out of my nose). Tonight, I did some cardio workout for 30 minutes. During this time, my shortness of breath was more so than usual. Afterwards, to say it lightly, I felt like crap (my chest was burning and I still had shortness of breath). I have since taken a shower and feel tremendously better. Should I be exercising with congestion this severe? How do you know when you are too sick to exercise?
