  • What track and field event should I do?

I am a girl, and am doing spring track. I'm 5'4, if that means anything. I'm thin, but I'm not in great shape. I'm not particularly strong, and I lack endurance. However, I have a really good attitude and am willing to work at whatever. I am not looking to win at anything this year, but I don't want to be embarrassed either. What event(s) should I do? Thanks.

  • Is USMA right for me?

I've asked this question before, and I got answers saying that I was not "military material," but they were accompanied with no explanation. So I will post it again.

I would like to go to USMA at West Point because of the opportunities it will give me both finance-wise and career-wise. The free college is a motivation, as well as the fact that West Point graduates are incredibly desirable in the work force. These are my only motivations. I am not particularly interested in "serving my country" in the military, but I will do it for the benefits it will give to me later in life.

Some other traits: I am incredibly smart and talented educationally. I am extremely liberal, and am also an atheist. Is USMA and the military strictly conservative and religious? I know there are exceptions, but in general.

I am also a girly girl. Looks are important to me, as is appealing to the opposite gender.

I know that most of you will say that I will not last through beast or that I will quit, but I would not. However, I want to make sure that I would be happy at USMA and will not be suffering for the next nine years of my life in an environment that does not support me or my views.

  • Is the USMA right for me? I am a girl.?

I am interested in going to the United States Military Academy for the financial benefits, as well as the potential career benefits. I would like to work in the United Nations in a country in Western Europe, in the long run. Would a short career in the military help with this goal?

However, I am a girly-girl. I love hair, makeup, and fashion. I flirt with boys and could not imagine giving that up, especially in a college that is 80% boys. I am also a freer spirit- I like artistic endeavors and breaking rules for whimsy. Would USMA be right for me?

  • Should I study abroad for 5 months or 10?

I plan to study abroad in France during my sophomore year of high school. However, I am conflicted as to how long I should go. I was originally planning on going from January to July, five months, but I have read a lot of blogs saying that it is not enough time to immerse yourself in the culture.

However, if I go for a year, I will be, well, gone for a year. I won't be able to get settled as a sophomore. I wouldn't be able to do volleyball or marching band in the fall. I wouldn't be able to be with my family on Christmas. But I would be fully immersed in the culture, and I would have the time of my life.

The 10 month program is $1000 more than the 5 month program, which costs $14,000.

If anyone has any experience, or any input, let me know what you think I should do. Remember, I will be a sophomore.

  • Small, tiny blackheads on nose?

I take really good care of my skin--I wash my face twice a day, and use toner and moisturizer at night. Everything I use is from Clinique.

However, I have noticed that I have a ton of very small blackheads across the tip of my nose, and in the creases at either side of the nose. I also have some going onto my cheeks. You can't really see them unless you look closely, but they have been bothering me a lot.

Any way to get rid of them? I can buy products.

And no, the Biore pore strips do not work.

  • Help me find out who this actor is?

So I just thought of an actor and I really want to know who it is.

He is between 18 and 30, has dark hair, and looks like a more awkward version of Andrew Garfield. I believe he was in a role where he was a special needs teenager, but I could be mistaken. He has a awkward, cute smile.

He is attractive, but in that puppy dog kind of way.

Any suggestions? He is fairly popular, I just can't think of who he is.

  • What is your definition of "leaning over?"?

In the trial of George Zimmerman, it said that Taryvon was leaning over George at the time of the shooting. Most people believe that it means that Taryvon was on top of Zimmerman, punching him.

However, sitting on top of someone does not fit the definition of leaning over.

After doing some experiments with my brother (who is shorter than me by about the same ratio of Trayvon to Zimmerman), I concluded that it is very possible that "leaning over" could just be the height that Trayvon had over Zimmerman. If the gun was at chest level, and pointing upwards, than it is very possible the same injury occurred.

    What do you think?

  • How to become more fluent in French?

Hi! I am in middle school, and have been taking French for three years. I know the basics, and would be able to hold a polite conversation. I can conjugate verbs, form sentences and questions, ect.

However, in high school I would really love to be a foreign exchange student, and at the rate my class is going, I am afraid I would not be at the language level I would prefer to be at. How can I move on in French independently?

  • How can you believe in God?

    Dear Bible/Koran/Torah-thumping souls,

How can you believe in God? When there are children starving in Somalia, around the world? When there are kindred spirits dying of cancer everyday, every minute? When there are innocent children getting shot? God is obviously not on Earth anymore--there is tragedy and chaos. Shouldn't God be controlling this?

    From,

Your skeptical atheist and extremely stubborn teenager

  • How could Trayvon Martin hurt Geoge Zimmerman?

According to George Zimmerman, Trayvon Martin was straddling him, punching him, and holding his ham over his nose and mouth.

That is the first thing that does not add up. How can someone be punching someone AND holding one hand over their nose and mouth whilst the recipient's hands are totally free?

Second, how can a scrawny teenager get George Zimmerman--who outweighs Trayvon Martin by at least 70 pounds--on the ground? How could George Zimmerman not retaliate.

There is a lot that does not add up in George Zimmerman's story. You should be ashamed if you support him.

  • Fashionable backpacks for school?

I need a new backpack for school. It has to be big enough to hold books, and be pretty basic, meaning no weird prints, and if so, it has to be neutral. It has to look expensive, but be about $70 and under. I like the rucksacks and the structured backpacks (like the Coach and Tory Burch ones).

    Input is much appreciated!

  • Shampoo recommendations for thin, dry hair?

I'm thirteen, and my hair is very dry and thin. It has that damaged, crunchy feel, and is lacking in shine and body. It is mostly straight with a little bit of random wave. My budget is $10 a bottle. Thank you!

  • How did the dropping of the atomic bomb effect the beginning, duration, and outcome of the Cold War?

I really need to know the answer for that question from a wide array of people from multiple points of view. It is for a school project that is worth much of my grade, and various perspectives are needed for a full thesis and report. Thank you.

  • Name for a History Day Project for the Atomic Bomb?

My friend and I are participating in National History Day, and we need a title that relates to our thesis statement. It needs to be eye-catching and interesting. Here is our thesis statement:

The dropping of the bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki was a turning point in history because the events that occured made most primary countries in the world develop a nuclear weapons program, allowing nuclear warfare to be a possibility for the world's armed forces.

Basically, our project is about how warfare changed after the dropping of the bomb on Japan. Thanks!
