  • Brown discharge leaking out of skin on breast?

Just some background info: 20 y/o woman, one sexual partner only (using both the pill and condoms), not pregnant.

Last July I noticed what looks like a zit on my breast. Sometimes it is raised, sometimes it isn't. It occasionally leaks a clear, brown fluid that is sticky. The discharge isn't coming from my nipple, it is coming from the skin on my breast. I saw the doctor shortly after I first noticed and she said it was likely benign. However it still leaks from time to time and I'm worried it could be something more. I plan on making another appointment with my doctor, but in the meantime I was trying to do some research and I can't find anything on the internet that fits this description. If someone can provide their expertise I would greatly appreciate it!

  • Other medications similar to Seroquel/Quetiapine?

I've been on Seroquel for over a year now for anxiety and depression, first at 200mg, then 100, and now I am at 75. The reason I had to cut back on my dose so much is because I was lethargic all the time. I recently added Pristiq to my regime which I think may have contributed to the constant "drugged zombie" feel. Now on the 75mg I feel a bit better, but next April I am starting shift work (and on call) and I absolutely cannot be sedated on the job. I was wondering if anyone here knew about other drugs similar to Seroquel that are less sedating. I have heard of Abilify but don't know of anyone who takes it.

I am seeing my doctor in a couple weeks about this, but I just thought I would ask the general public on their input as well. Thanks!

PS: the Pristiq is another aid to help my depression and I find it works very well to balance out the Seroquel so I'm not really willing to budge on that one yet.

  • Has anyone taken Pristiq?

I've been taking Pristiq for 6 days now. Most people say they get nausea, headaches, dizziness, insomnia etc while on this drug but I have so far experienced no side effects. Does this mean it isn't working or did I just get lucky? Aside from the side effects I don't feel too different depression-wise either. Do I just need to stick it out longer?

  • Becoming a pharmacy tech without a diploma?

I was just curious to know if it's difficult to get hired as a pharm tech without a college diploma. I'm almost 20 years old with a few years of customer service under my belt including booking appointments, dealing with clients, handling money, running a cash, making phone calls, etc. I know employers have preference for pharm techs with a college diploma but how easily can one be trained on the job for this career? I'm thinking of going into it but I don't really want to go to college for it if I can help it. What exactly does an employer look for when hiring a pharm tech? Thanks!

  • Combining Pristiq with Seroquel?

Used to be on Pristiq, went off, and want to go back on again. That was over a year ago. I have since been on Seroquel 100mg. Anyone here know if it's okay to take 50mg Pristiq with 100mg Seroquel?

    Thanks

  • My normally friendly hamster is screeching at me. Why?

I have a Syrian hamster that I've had for almost two months now. Not sure of her age. I've been feeding her from my hand and holding her basically since I've gotten her and she's never given me a problem. Very friendly. Today I had her out of her cage as normal, she sat in my lap, fed from my hand, and then I held her a bit. I put her back in her cage. She was eating. While she was eating I was doing my makeup (her cage is in the bathroom) and then I heard a loud screech come from her. I turned around, startled, to see her screeching at me and kicking her hind legs. Then she ran into her little house and hasn't come out. What would cause her to do this? She's always been so friendly it honestly kind of shocked me.

  • Protecting my tattoo from the sun. What to use?

My tattoo is a little over a week old. It went through the itchy/peeling stage and healed very well. I was wondering what I should put on it during the summer (it's on my arm). I'm going to try to keep it out of the sun as often as possible (I burn very easily anyway) but I wanted to know what people normally use on their tattoos. Will just regular sunscreen do? Or should I invest in something more specialized for tattoos?

  • First tattoo this weekend, what can I expect?

I'm getting my first tattoo this weekend and I'm so excited.. it's one I've wanted for awhile and I designed it myself. My question is, what can I expect for after care? I know the artist will probably go through this with me but what can anyone tell me about aftercare? Anything I can do to prepare beforehand? I'm not too concerned about pain, I know it's going to be a ***** (getting it on my bicep) but I know it'll be worth it. Thanks!

  • Are my baby hamsters fighting or playing?

I have a litter of 3 week old baby hamsters and sometimes they nip at each other and wrestle. They squeak too, and I can't tell if it's because they are just playing or if they are in pain.

  • My doctor increased my Nexium dosage and..?

I have been taking 40mg of Nexium for about a year now for acid reflux. It's been getting worse so my doctor increased my dosage to 80mg for the short term until I'm done school for the summer (I live in a different city) then we will arrange for a scope. When I increased the dose I started feeling really nauseous, dizzy, and shaky. I felt awful. So I've informed my doctor I'm going to stick to 40mg until I see her next. I went back to taking my regular dose today but I still feel nauseous and have headaches. Is it the Nexium? And when will it finally leave my system?

  • When can I start giving away my baby hamsters?

They are two weeks old. Most sources I've read say three weeks is okay to leave the mom but I want to make sure before I start giving them away.

  • Antidepressants: coping with side effects? Advice?

I'm going to see my family doctor on Friday and based on some things that have been going on she will likely put me on an antidepressant. I've already taken Celexa and Pristiq but discontinued them both due to nausea (I have a phobia of throwing up, it's OCD related, so this is where it gets complicated). My question is, for those who have taken antidepressants, how did you cope with nausea and other side effects and still manage to function in work or school? I'm worried that the side effects will affect my functioning in college.

    Thanks!

  • How to clean a hamster cage with babies?

I posted here a week ago when I discovered a nest of babies in my hamster's cage. I was told to keep my distance and that's what I've been doing. Mom and babies are doing well. However it's been two weeks since I've cleaned the cage. It doesn't stink yet but it's got lots of poop. I feel bad keeping the babies in this environment. Is there a way to clean the cage without upsetting the mom? Or should I leave it be a little longer?

  • My hamster had babies! What next?

Bought a Syrian hamster from the pet store exactly two weeks ago. Today she gave birth. I didn't even know she was pregnant. I can't see the litter because they are in the mom's sleeping hut, the only reason I noticed the babies is because one was astray (mom came and got it and returned it to the litter).

Today I was supposed to clean the cage but what now? It's not super dirty, but I know with a mom and babies it will get dirtier faster. Any suggestions for care?

  • Does this classify as abuse and why do I hate talking about it?

I have a sister who is a year and a half younger than I am. Growing up, she was hard to live with, and being around her felt like walking on eggshells.

As school-age kids she used to hit, pinch, pull hair, kick, and throw things at me. As we got older she became less physical and more verbal. She put me down a lot, making hurtful comments on my appearance, ridiculed me in front of others, was very competitive with me (in school and sports), made rude remarks about my intelligence, and basically made me feel worthless. Needless to say, between living with her and being bullied at school, I've grown up with no self esteem and little respect for myself.

All while this was happening, my parents didn't really do much to stop her. Sometimes I went to stay with my grandparents because I felt safer there. When she did this to me I felt like I had no one to back me up or stand up for me.

I know this probably classifies as abuse, but I feel weird calling it that. The media seems to give a lot of attention to child abuse from parents, but doesn't shine much light on sibling abuse. I've never spoken about this to anyone. Not my friends or even my therapist (when I was seeing one). I'm not sure why. I kind of feel embarrassed to be the victim, if that makes any sense.

I'm 19 going on 20 now, and she is 18. We don't live in the same city and don't speak much.

Sorry for the long post, I've wanted to get this off my chest for awhile.

  • Long term Seroquel use.. concerns?

I've been taking Seroquel for almost a year now to treat anxiety and depression. I started at 200mg then decreased to 100. The reason for the decrease was weight gain and difficulty getting up in the mornings for work or school. I had tried two types of antidepressants, but they made me hyper and made my anxiety worse. A few months after taking Seroquel I gained 16lbs quite rapidly (now I have stretch marks). Since it's been roughly a year of taking it, I'm beginning to worry about long term effects.

I tried to come off of Seroquel once, a few months ago. It resulted in a worsening of my anxiety and depression and I felt so out of my element that I had to get back on it ASAP so I could function again. I'm kind of torn right now, it may do me harm in the long term but I just can't afford to go batshit crazy again.

People who have taken Seroquel: what was your experience being on the drug and coming off (if you have) and did you experience long term side effects?

    Thank you :)

  • New Syrian hamster seems to be quite shy?

I bought a Syrian hamster over the weekend, this is my third hamster. The pet store gave me the hamster in a little cardboard box. I left the box open in the cage for the hamster to nest in, and it never seems to want to come out. The couple of times it has been out, I've been able to pet it and let it take food from my hand, but I don't even hear it through the night. It just comes out periodically to get a drink or grab some food and retreats back to it's box. Is there any way I can coax it to come out? Or does it just need time.

  • Seroquel withdrawal... is this normal?

I've been taking Seroquel for the last 8 months to treat anxiety and depression to stabilize my mood. I was taking 200mg. In August I decreased my dose to 100mg due to weight gain and constant fatigue. I've been wanting to come off the drug all together and just take Xanax when needed. My doctor told me to decrease my 100mg dose in increments of 25mg every week. I've been having really bad withdrawal symptoms. My headaches last most of the day and feel like hangover headaches, I have cried for no reason and constantly feel like crying, my mood is totally off, I'm nauseous, and I can't think straight. My concentration is off and can't stay on one train of thought for very long. I was wondering if these symptoms are normal for Seroquel withdrawal and if it gets better eventually. Thanks.

  • I feel the flu coming on, how do I get through the school day?

For the past couple days I have felt flu-ish. I realize the best thing is to rest and drink fluids. However I go to college and I absolutely have to be in class tomorrow because it's a lab day. What are some tips to getting through the day while sick? If I need to take the next day off, I will, but tomorrow is really important.
