  • To register a business for Ebay or Etsy sales, which is better - LLC or Sole Proprietorship?

I sell vintage or second-hand items (mostly clothing) on Ebay and Etsy. The business is growing, and also PayPal is now demanding personal information such as SSN. I want to just register my online business AS as a business.

I've read a bit about the types of businesses but not sure which one is best for me. I know LLC is recommended because it separates "you" from any (most) business liability, but chances are no one is going to sue me over a second-hand pair of jeans or a coat.

My only investment would be the purchase of second-hand items. No web site, no employees, no supplies (I use free priority mail boxes 90% of the time and customers pay for postage).

Not to sound like a total moron, but I'm looking for the easiest option (although I'll most likely have to have my taxes professional done next year).

"Consulting a tax professional" or lawyer about business advice isn't an option. After all, the reason I'm selling online is to (barely) make ends meet.

Much thanks in advance for personal experience or advice.

  • Does anyone know what song, artist or video this is?

A few years ago (not more than 4 years) there was a song and a video and in the video the woman singing was outside and playing her guitar and people were putting money in her guitar case. The style of music was kind of soft rock / folksy or (maybe even billed as "country") kind of like Melissa Etheridge or Sheryl Crowe. I'm pretty sure the song was about money.

I know this is pretty vague, but much thanks in advance!

  • Wellbutrin/Bupropion Drowsy or Wired?

I just got a prescription for generic wellbutrin. A friend who has taken it told me it'll give me energy. I've also read a few blog posts saying the same. A therapist also told me to take it before 5pm or else it'll cause insomnia.

I picked up the prescription and the bottle has a warning on it that says, "May Cause Drowsiness." Um, WHAT?

Now I'm afraid to take it. I can't be groggy at work (and specifically asked the therapist for something that won't make me tired).

I just called the pharmacist and she sounded borderline clueless. Then she said, "Oh well it's either going to give you insomnia or it'll make you very sleepy." WHAT??!

Has anyone taken this stuff and gotten tired?

  • Multi-Colored Military Ribbons/Bars on Hat?

Forgive the confusing subject line but I'm clueless about military stuff.

I want to buy a Korean War Veteran hat for someone but I'm not sure if the stripes on the hat mean something or are there for decoration, etc. The person I'm buying the hat for was a Corporal in the Army.

This is the hat (a few versions of Korean war vet hats):

    http://www.honorcountry.com/images/detailed_images...

What I'm concerned about is the meaning of that multi-colored bar/ribbon. Does that indicate rank or something?

I was all ready to buy the hat when a friend who is a vet said I'd better make sure to get one with his rank on it (as if this kind of hat is "wrong") ??? I would assume the manufacturer just makes all one kind.

Thanks much in advance for any help!

  • Astigmatism and multi-focal-lens contacts?

Reposting since I forgot info and Yahoo won't allow me to update the original question for some reason. If you already answered my question (I saw them) thanks, but no need to answer again. :)

Does anyone here have astigmatism and wear multi-focal-lens contacts?

I went to the eye doctor yesterday and I need glasses for distance (which I already had and only wear for watching movies, because otherwise they make me nauseous, plus I'm on the computer all day for my job).

I'm over 40 but not doing that thing where I'm holding magazines, menus far away from me to read. In fact the only thing I can't read are the backs of those tiny aspirin bottles and the doc did test my near vision as well.

I'm getting separate computer glasses, but I also wanted contacts for when I'm out and about. The doctor agreed to this but said the contacts will be distance only. ???? So if I'm wearing contacts, I won't be able to see anything within arms length unless I put on reading glasses (so essentially I'll be trading my near vision for distance vision). Like if I go hiking or shopping and want to see something in my hand, I'll have to take reading glasses along or just not use any vision correction at all since I can still see without glasses (if I go into Wal Mart, I can see people in the back of the store, or when I'm driving I can see animals, people, etc. way far down the road - I just can't read signs that are several feet away).

The doc said you *can* get progressive lenses for astigmatism but it's very difficult to do so (???) Then he said he could fit me for one eye to be for distance and one eye for close up (LOL - WHAT??! - How is that possible without me keeping one eye closed all the time?). Beyond that, his tone indicated "end of discussion." But if my options are to constantly switch back and forth from one vision correction option to another, I'll just go back to wearing nothing again (which defeats the purpose). There is no way I could go hiking wearing contacts and put on reading glasses every time I want to see my camera screen to take a picture or look at a leaf close up.

  • Allergy Test Question(s)?

I had allergy tests today. The first test was a skin prick test and the second test was an intradermal test where they inject a little bit of the allergen under your skin.

They tested me for several things on one arm (using the skin prick test) and the allergens that didn't cause a reaction, they then used the other arm to do the injection (Intradermal) on to see what THEY would do.

So for example, the skin prick test showed no allergy to mold, cat dander or dust -- but when they injected the allergen of each, I showed a slight reaction to all three.

Why isn't the skin prick test enough to determine what I'm allergic to? The stuff I reacted to on the skin prick test showed major welts very quickly. The stuff they had to do the intradermal testing on barely showed welts or a reaction. To me that's kind of like saying, "Does the smell of perfume bother you?" and you say, "No." and they say, "Well, inhale it in a closed room with no ventilation. Does it bother you NOW?" I mean, of course it will.

I asked both the nurse and the doctor why they do BOTH tests (especially if the first test shows no reaction) and I feel like when you're in class and you ask the teacher to explain but you stop asking because you STILL don't get it. The game plan regarding the reactions/allergies is OTC meds combined with a prescription nasal spray (treatment for pretty much ANY allergy) so it's kind of like ALL the tests were useless (again maybe I'm just not "getting" this).

Anyhoo, if anyone can "dumb this down" and explain why the need for the skin prick test AND the intradermal test, I'd appreciate it.

    Thanks!

Also not sure if the graphic on the back is just a general graphic or if it "means" something.

  • No filter on furnace unit?

I live in a rental house with the "furnace" in the crawl space (electric heat and a/c). I regularly change my cold air return filters (every 1-3 months). They seem to get dirtier faster and faster now. While shopping for different types of fitlers online (seeing if I could get a better deal on better filters), I came across more than one web site mentioning you must change the filter on the actual furnace as well. I've been here two years. The landlord has never had anyone service anything under there. The landlord is in very poor health so I asked his wife about changing the filter on the furnace and she said there isn't one -- to just change the cold air return filters. She didn't sound very confident and I don't have any clue about HVAC (I'm not even sure what I'm looking at in the crawl space is even the "furnace." (see pic below). It says "SunTherm" on it so it sounds like it would be.

    http://i48.tinypic.com/2w4hi1k.jpg

Anyone with HVAC experience have any idea if this thing looks like a heating unit, is supposed to have a filter and if so, where you'd change it? I'm thinking it's best to not fool around with this myself, but if nothing else I need to be able to "present' something to the landlord so she can get someone to replace it and/or show me how to in the future.

  • Changing website to subscription-based?

I have a blog that I use to list local job listings (very few resources for people where I live - including very few jobs listed in the newspaper - I'm able to easily find job openings most people can't).

It started as a side project but I'm now getting about 5,000 views per month. The "sad" thing is that even with Adsense and a few affiliate links, I'm only making about $10 per month from it. I want to start charging a small fee for access (either per month with 30-day expiration or automatic renewal each month) but have no idea how to do this or what my options are. I'm familiar with payment options such as PayPal and Google checkout. I just don't know how to set up the website side of things (the part where access is blocked to non members and access is granted via user name and password for members). I figure I could maybe get at least 100 subscribers.

I know basic design and basic html (but no actual coding or scripts). Worse yet, the existing site is a blogger site with a "real" domain name so I am aware I may have to move it to an actual host if a database directory of some sort is required.

Any ideas on how to change my website/blog to a subscription-based site? Any ideas on software for noobs that may get this done? And if it's better to have a pro do this, any idea of cost (ballpark) and if their services would be needed throughout or just set up? (Again, I have tech aptitude, I'm just completely unfamilar with this side of web site creation). I'd rather go to a pro as a last resort only because I'm not sure if folks would pay to access the site.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can point me in the right direction.

  • Low Dose Klonopin Taper?

If you're someone who has successfully tapered from a low dose benzo after a short period of use, I need your help!

In the past, I've used Xanax occasionally to sleep (usually .125 to .25 mg). I never knew it was addictive, would go weeks or months without taking it, and would take it again.

This past winter, I went through a stressful time where I was taking it more often. Occasional use Nov-Jan started as more frequent/daily use in February (same dosage as before .125 to .25 with maybe one or two days a week taking .5 but this was rare).

A month ago, a new doctor put me on Klonopin 1mg twice a day. It made me a zombie, so after the first day I only took .5 twice a day (so 1mg a day total).

The stressful time in my life is mostly over and I want off of this drug. The doc suggests putting me on Xanax .25 four times a day (which would be more Xanax than I've EVER taken). I already know about the half life and tapering, etc. and know it's not wise to go from a long-acting benzo to a short-acting benzo and it's best to just taper off what I'm on instead of switching meds. I have been, for the past week and a half, only taking .5mg Klonopin at night.

I've read all the withdrawal horror stories. Is it possible for me to experience withdrawal after such a short amount of time and at a low dose? (I guess I'd have to factor in that I was taking at least "some" Xanax before that, too).

Also, for those of you who've gone through withdrawal, is it something you experience when you taper or does withdrawal only start to occur when the drug is no longer in your system?

I'm not sure when to taper again or if I have "stabilized" enough yet (not sure what this means) to cut the dose again. It's hard for me to know WHAT I'm feeling or why since this drug makes me feel so horrible (very tired no matter how much sleep I get, very depressed, dizzy, brain fog).

When I try to find help online, I only find posts where people have been on this drug for years and/or at a higher dose or for ongoing panic issues. I'm not worried about having panic attacks when I am off of this drug (my panic was caused by a horrible time in my life that's hopefully close to being over). I'm worried about all the other horror symptoms I've read about (stomach problems, seizures, tremors, twitching, severe headaches, passing out, etc.). One website suggested I try water titration which would mean my one month of Klonopin use would result in me taking six months to taper off. ???????

My overall question (I guess): How do you know when to taper? Am I making a big deal out of nothing since the dose is so low and the usage time has been so short? Any advice from other low-dose short-termers out there appreciated.

    Thanks!

  • Distance correction and computer?

I am a computer tech. I just got glasses to correct distance vision and confused about how my near vision will be affected.

Those of you who have distance correction and work on computers a lot, do you

    1) Take off your glasses to work on the computer?

    2) Just work with your distance glasses on (and move the monitor further away)

    OR

    3) Do you have special prescription glasses made just for computer (not near or far) distance?

I'm really confused about what to do. Thanks.

  • New Prescription Questions?

I'm 42 and just got my first pair of glasses. I have astigmatism (I've needed glasses but haven't worn them). My reading vision has been fine. My distance vision has become much worse in the past year or so.

A few weeks ago I went to an optometrist who recommended bifocals because of my age. He said I don't quite need them yet but I will soon so why not just get them now (?!?!). The doc said contacts are not a great option for me (even though another doc prescribed them for me years ago) and didn't want to discuss this further. ???

My job requires extensive computer use (and on the advice of co-workers who wear glasses), I opted for single vision distance lenses and planned on getting a pair for computer use elsewhere (cheaper).

The staff did not hide their disappointment that I opted for the cheaper option. They were also annoyed that I asked for my written prescription. ?? I got my new distance correction glassses yesterday.

I was just on a few different websites where you can order computer or "extra" glasses for under $50 (and yes, I know, "buyer beware" and make sure this prescription is correct first). The odd thing? A few of the websites "warned" me that I was possibly entering the wrong information since, it seems, my RIGHT eye is being corrected for distance and my LEFT eye is being corrected for near/reading. Is this possible or maybe just a clerical since the receptionist was annoyed and rushed? I no longer trust this office.

    My script reads

    O.D. (right)

    Sphere -25

    Cyl -1.75

    Axis 82

    ADD +1.25

    O.S. (left)

    Sphere +25

    Cyl -2.00

    Axis 92

    ADD +1.25

    Underneath it says "1.50 PAL"

How do I determine my vision from this? (20/20, 20/30, etc)

The vision in my right eye is definitely worse than the vision in my left but the script says otherwise?

Is it possible to have BOTH a plus and a minus (sphere)?

Are you supposed to wear distance glasses ALL the time?

    What is PAL?

    Much thanks in advance!
