How do I shrink the image on an HDMI monitor?
A new windows 10 computer is plugged into an HDMI monitor. The image is about 10% too large at the recommended resolution. The windows bar at the bottom and the icons on the left are off the screen. When I try to adjust the display size from windows, I get choices to make it bigger (125%, 150%) but not smaller. Under advanced there is a (not recommended) choice of adjusting the size but no matter what I enter, the apply button is inactive.
2 AnswersPersonal Finance3 months ago2 HP printers won't install?
I have an old HP LJ1018 which was working fine on my windows 7 computer. Now that I switched to Win10, it won't install. I downloaded the app from HP (smart). It detected the printer. I clicked the next button. It buzzed away for a time, then said printer not detected - right after it detected it on the previous screen.
I also have a photosmart 5515 that hasn't been used in a while. I turned it on, put in a new set of cartridges and the only buttons I get on the screen is to watch a video or run setup. When I run setup, it tells me to use the setup cartridges which came with the printer. Those are long gone. Any suggestions for getting either of these to work would be appreciated. Or HP's support number. Their website does a good job hiding any option which will actually connect you to a human being.
4 AnswersPrinters5 months agoWhy would win10 slow down internet connection?
Have a system with 2 SSD drives that are mirror imaged. Upgraded win7 to win10 on one drive. Direct cat5 cable to router gives speeds of 40-80 d/l and as low as 0 u/l. Booted win7 from ghosted drive and get speeds over 200/200. Any ideas would be appreciated. Even stranger, under Win7 using wireless is slightly slower than direct connect but under Win 10, wireless is actually a little faster.
I realize that with win8 microsoft took a giant step backward and win10 was a patch to correct it. It definitely runs slower than win7 by about 10%. I am happy staying with win7 but support and updates are gone. Slowly some apps have stopped working. I can't believe everyone with win10 is seeing this kind of major slowdown so it has to be something on my end.

3 AnswersComputer Networking11 months agocomputer freezes for 5 min every hour?
I keep my computer updated with totalav anti virus and I also run other anti virus programs periodically. No malware has been detected. About once an hour, the computer will freeze for 5 minutes. Any program running will say not responding. All web activity will stop, though PC is connected via wire to the router. Then it will resume as normal for the next hour or so. When I wake up the computer in the morning, the internet icon on the lower right will show a blue circle for about 5 minutes until internet activity resumes. Wireless devices are not affected, so it's not the modem or router. I removed just about everything from the startup. I have tried task manager but I don't see anything unusual. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
