22 AnswersDogs1 decade agoPup bites and throws a tantrum when i move him, is there a right way to go about this.?
He is a large breed, we go to classes and knows basic obediance. He is great on the lead and with people and other dogs. I am pack leader and work on the calm reward good behaviour and ignore the bad method. He knows that his food (he is not food agressive) is prepared in the kitchen and he will stay when asked whilst his prepare it if the door is open, if i close the door he barks and almost destroys the door. For safety there are times when he can not come into the kitchen, cooking etc.Obviously i do not allow this behaviour but he will not come away from the door when called when he is in this temper not even for a treat or a toy and if i take him by the collor and gently move him away he tries to bite and throws a real tantrum. Should i move him by the collar or put my body between him and the door and make him back away. He shows no other signs of aggression he just insists on claiming the kitchen door. I know i need to address this but which method gives the right message
14 AnswersDogs1 decade agowhy do so many ask how can I treat my dog without a visit to the vet?
Admittedly I have only been on this site for a short time but over and over again I read how can I treat my dog, what is wrong with my dog, does my dog need to go to the vet. What is wrong with these people and their reluctance to see a vet. OK I know cost is a big factor to those on limited income and I appreciate that but cost can not account for the huge number of question askers for whom a vet seems a last resort rather than their first port of call. These type of questions astound me sometimes. Anyone else share my views.

6 AnswersDogs1 decade agoWhy, when or who made these "designer" labradoodles and other strange cross breeds so popular?
Ok so I am a giant breed lover and I am also in the Uk where these cross breeds are perhaps not quite so popular YET, but why did cross breed mutts(loveable as mutts can be) seem to became the fashion all of a sudden. They went from pound dogs to big bucks over night, ok the customers created this but why?
18 AnswersDogs1 decade agooat meal soap for dogs (sources pls)?
I met a dog owner whos dogs coat was amazing and she told me attributed it down to bathing her dog using oat meal soap. Her dog had suffered from really dry skin and dull coat in the past. I have tried pet suppliers and even horse suppliers but can not find it. I can find the human variety but always believed that human soap for a dog was a no no. Does any one out there use or know of a source for the dog variety.

i think most of us agree that most mass produced dog food is garbage so what would we put in ours to make the best quality food that our dogs would love.
