I am married and have 4 teenagers (one is a step-child) ranging from 13 - 18 so my life is pretty hectic. I'm one of the strictest parents anyone could have and right now 3 of my kids can't stand me. The oldest one who is almost 19 has finally come around that I do what I do as I see best for them. I pretty much will do anything for them unless it will cause them harm. If they want something, they need to earn it including trust and respect. Otherwise my life revolves around healthcare and politics. I love to read biographies and stories regarding history, especially those that involve history of the last 40 years. My husband is chronically ill and disabled and I spend a lot of time taking care of him. Lastly, I am in desperate need for a vacation to the ocean with alchohol. I haven't drank in years but figure it may be time to start again.

  • I applied for disability (SSI) and they have reached a decision but...?

they can't tell me what it is because my application was pulled (10% of applications are pulled) for federal review to see if the correct decision was made so I can't find an answer if it was approved or not. I heard they are randomly picked by computer but I also heard they may be pulled if one dr does not agree with the rest which I did have (but now the dr. does agree that I can't work) but put in her decision that I could. Does anyone know the issues regarding federal review and if it usually is a favorable outcome

  • Disability overpayment to non-custodial parent?

Biological Child is in father's care and then leaves for 10 months to live with mother and then comes back home. During period which child lived with mother, an overpayment was received to the mother from child's father's disability as payee c/o child in the amount of $5,000. Mother is fighting for custody (due to the money, not the care of child) and child will be 18 in 9 months. Child lived with us since age of 12 (with the exception of 10 months). She cashed the checks and spent the overpayment and her waiver was not approved. The checks are made out to mother c/o child and when child lives with us they are made out to father c/o child. Child turns 18 in less than a year. Mother also continues to receive and cash monthly benefit checks until paperwork from court is received by SSA stating custody of child is now with father. We are receiving a temporary order as mother is fighting for custody Is said minor also responsible for the checks the mother is cashing when benefits should have been returned to SSA even when said minor did not received a cent? Mother only bought $100.00 worth of clothes throughout the 10 month period and a $34.00 phone card a month for child, no other money was spent on her in regards to the overpayment. Mother also impersonated spouse to initially receive the benefits and SSA did not request required paperwork from her. We are still trying to find out if a crime was committed. Mother also rented an apartment 2 hours away using child's father's personal information and apartment was rented along with utilities in his name, he never lived there and we are thinking of hiring a private investigator to find out how she did this and this is only because she is fighting for custody. She also kidnapped the daughter at age of 6 months, took her out of state without letting father know and a private investigator found her and mother in another state 8 months later and the court ordered her to return to the state. They never married. Where does the child and father stand in relationship to this debt? Can a waiver be signed by both of them now stating why they are not responsible? What about the increasing debt mother is bringing up while she is cashing the monthly checks on behalf of child while child is in father's custody? Child does not want to live with mother, the evaluations from CPS and a court ordered psychologist also recommended to the court that the child's best interest is living with father, not mother.

  • need advice to get out?

My husband is chronically ill and has more bad days than good. Problem - he takes his bad days out on me and my kids (not from our marriage). Blames everything on me. This has been going on for several years and I have been doing my best to take care of him. I finally hit the last straw of abuse. I need to get out. Problem, will not take my kids to a shelter, no money to move, no family to help. Do not fall into the category of Domestic Violence so no assistance there either. The abuse is so mental that I never have a happy day and this has been going on for the last 6 years. I work full time and take care of my kids (and his too). I can't do it any more. I can't save money because I broke my back over a year 1/2 ago and my new salary doesn't even compare. Unfortunately I'm about $5.00 over the limit for any public assistance. Can someone give me any advice to get out? I've reached the brink and just want to be with me and my kids. I can't take care of him anymore! Please help!

  • Unfit mothers and having another child?

Two years ago I called CPS on my niece for cocaine use around her 2 children and she had them taken away from her until she went through treatment. Over the summer again, she became heavily involved in alcohol and someone else called CPS and I took the children until she went through treatment. She lost full custody of her children to their biological father (she gets them one week, he gets them another) because of her negligence which was proven in court and that I saw with my own two eyes when I had her children here. Needless to say shortly after she started drinking again. Her boyfriend got out of jail on August 13th, they broke up last week because of her drinking. Well today we found out she is pregnant with a third. Does this seem right? I think it should be made a law that parents who have been found to be unfit should not be allowed to have more children they should be put up for adoption or foster care until the parent is deemed fit. What is your thoughts. She was drinking last week so her baby has already had alcohol. Her favorite hobby is drinking. What involvement should I have in this? I tried twice with her to help her. She knows I called 2 years ago and when she needed help this time she came to me and I gave it to her. Should my ride stop here and let things be as they are?

  • Parents of Teenagers, when we were kids before the internet...?

Do you think you would have used Myspace and posted everything you did with your friends...pics of you smoking marijuana, comments of drinking and sneaking out? I'm curious to see what other parents of teens think of this. I monitor my kids Myspaces and they don't post these comments but some of their friends do and then I tell my kids they can't hang out with them. I'm just curious, would we have been stupid enough to do this too?

  • 19 year old son with bad break up?

How do I help my 19 year old son get over a break-up after being with this girl for 5 years? I remember my heartache of my first love and I know it just takes time. He has been crying for days and all I can do is hold him. That make him sound like a baby but he is not, he is usually the most toughest kid when it comes to emotions. I cry when I think of how bad he is hurt. They live together, got evicted and then came to stay with me. Last week she came home from work and said she was done and didn't love him anymore. I try to comfort him but also try to make him face the reality that this may be truly over. He is threatening suicide. She has come back everyday to pick up 2 or three things, she still has closets and draws full of her stuff plus a packed basement. Everytime he comes he loses it and breaks down. I try to tell him time will help but right now he doesn't believe me. I think the relationship just ran its course because they were high school sweethearts. I love her like my own but my son is my son and he is my priority. I told him maybe he should join the service and his answer was I didn't in the first place so that I wouldn't be away from her and if I do know, I know I will have lost her for good. How do I help him? I love him way too much to see this heartache and it brings back all the emotions i felt with my first love. She can't come back and pick up two items each day and then look him in the eyes and tell him she is done. I told him she needed to take everything so that way when he goes into his room, he is not reminded of her. He didn't like may answer....he says I'm making him cry to much. I love and adore her but how do I tell her without hurting him that if it is over, take everything so he can move on? My kids are my life and when they hurt, I hurt. They have always been my number one priority. He wants to die right now, says he has no future and would rather do something stupid so the police shoot and kill him. I tried to talk him into going to the mental health clinic to be admitted and he wouldn't hear of it. What does a Mom do when she is given this feedback when all she wants is for him to know she loves him and would do anything if possible to make things better. His heart is broken worse than mine, but I am crying my eyes out for his sadness. Please any advise would be appreciated

  • 14 year old daughter and dating

My 14 year old daughter started dating. Much to my disapproval. I insisted she be 16 but teenagers find a way. She was dating a boy who is 15 and I did get to know him well. They were never far from my eyesight. They dated for 2 months, she really liked him. He broke up with her and then told her to go out with a friend of hers (who is 12) and she did because she didn't want this boy to think she cared anymore about him. I see her hurt. I told her she couldn't date the 12 year old and she went off on me, not that i care. Do I have every right to tell her who she can or can't date?

I was having heavy periods for 6 months, maybe a week in between. I also had many symptoms of perimenapause, hot flashes, insomnia, mood swings, etc... My last period was November 07, I had an endometrial ablation in December 07. I have not had a period since, the hot flashes and mood swings stopped. I still have insomnia. Have I reached menapause?

  • Do we have a defamation of character/slander lawsuit. We were named in custody papers.?

My husband and took my neice and her kids in as they didn't have a place to stay. She had a fight with her children's father and he filed for custody. In the custody papers he wrote more against my husband than he did her. He wrote that my husband was a drunk and drove the kids around (he has not drank in 7 years), that he was addicted to prescription medications (we can prove he is not with a statement from his dr and a blood level for drugs and alchohol). He is on 10mg - 20mg methodone daily for pain management. He is fully disabled with abdominal adhesions. He is hospitalized for his condition at least every 6 weeks. Stress plays a factor in his health. He also wrote that he has to have a drug screening every month to keep a valid drivers license which is untrue. This can be proven by a phone call to DMV. What is your thoughts?

  • Does any parent have any experience with seeing your not so child (age18) in handcuffs? It hurt me terribly?

The odd thing is there was a warrant out and he turned himself in. He was charged with assault and the person who filed the complaint described him as 250lbs with 6 piercings. Odd thing is he is 150lbs soaking wet with no piercings. He didn't go to jail but the thought scared the heck out of me. Any other parents that can relate? He still has to attend the court date but I have never been so scared for my child.

  • What would you do?

About 7 years ago right after my husband and I "did it", he fell over with an intestinal blockage and had to have surgery. I almost lost him. The blockage was caused by adhesions that formed after a prior surgery. He has had many more surgeries from the adhesions wrapping around his intestines and is on pain management. He is disabled fromthis condition. He keeps asking me to have S*X but I'm afraid that it will cause another blockage. He doesn't understand why I'm afraid, I do and don't want my last thought of him if something drastic happens to him be of us doing it. Should I just let it go and get on with it? We still do occassionally, once every 6-8 months. Oh, and last year I broke my back so that put a big damper in it to. How do I explain this to him? He doesn't think I love him but he also knows there is no-one else. Whenever I go somewhere he usually comes with me.

  • I have 4 teenagers, what would you do?

I'm trying to manage the life of 3 teenagers. They all have different personalities:

#1, Female, age 13: Very school spirited, athletic and has a lot of friends. Does well in school. She starts high school next year. How do I keep her the way she is and not change when she starts high school?

#2, Girl, 16, 10th gr, Gothic. Faked a pregnancy so she wouldn't lose her boyfriend (they are still together) and lies straight to your face. She judges everyone and has no friends. We don't allow her to see her boyfriend outside of school, thats where they had sex. Are we right to suspend boyfriend privileges? She is in counseling, she also is a cutter.

#3, boy, 14-He began rebelling last year and I put him probation for swearing, yes for swearing. He says that him being on probation is all my fault and will not listen to any of my rules. If I ground him he leaves anyways, I call probation, they don't do anything. What can be my next step? He is already in counseling.

  • What is wrong with our highschools and kids?

I have 4 teenagers who were just great until...the teenage years hit. My youngest will be in high school next year and so far, she is a really really good kid. I get a lot of disrespect from my other three. Well, my oldest is on his own now and he now shows me respect and love. I go to the high school and even though the main office (principle's) is right in front of the building and there are monitors, all I hear is the "F" word and total disrespect coming out of the kids mouths and the adults do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Am I at wrong for punishing my kids when they disrespect me and don't follow my rules and is the reason that they are doing this from the high school. I live in a Urban area, it is not a city-school. My kids tell me their friends talk like that to their parents and I know their friends parents. What is wrong?

  • KARMA - Should it be the way of life?

Karma is defined as Karma is a Sanskrit word that means action. Karma has commonly been considered a punishment for past bad actions, but karma is neither judge nor jury. Rather, it is simply the universal law of cause and effect that says every thought, word and act carries energy into the world and affects our present reality. Karma can also refer to the work we have ahead of us, which includes lessons from both our past and present.

Do you think if more people believed in KARMA the world would be more a peace?

  • Myspace Wallpaper/background question?

I redid my Myspace a while ago. I designed my own and linked a picture for the background/wallpaper. Well, I have used a premade layout and the wallpaper/background keeps showing up. I deleted the URL that was attached to it from Photobucket and also deleted the pictures. However, the same picture is used as my PC desktop. I did a search to find the picture in all locations (it took hours) using the file name and it couldn't be located. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of the background only and keep my layout? I actually deleted everything in my profile and redid it and when I don't have a premade layout inserted into my Myspace, it doesn't show. However, as soon as I input the codes for my layout, it automatically comes up. Where the heck is it coming from?

  • What should I do with this child?

My 14 year old is rebelling 150% at me. He swears at me, calls me names, doesn't tell me where he is going or who he is with. I put him on probation for his behavior which put the rebellion has come to the extreme (he calls me a F* C and other things and did it also to the probation officer). When I call the probation officer, nothing changes. He becomes violent when angry and yes I have him in counseling. I speak with his teachers once a week and the principal. He says he hates me because I'm "F** stupid". He is failing in school and when he gets detention, he never shows up. Lastly, I had his IQ tested, he scored 20 points from being gifted and I was told "he could have done better if he tried harder". Any suggestions on how to get his and my relationship back on track? Right now, I had his father take him for a few days (his father only sees him 2 hours a week). His father doesn't have room for him so he can't stay with him permanently, any suggestions from anyone?

  • Do you think these song lyrics go along with the majority of American's political values Kid Rock - AMEN?

Its another night in hell Another child wont live to tell Can you imagine what it's like to starve to death And as we sit free and well Another soldier has to yell

Tell my wife and children I love them in his last breath Cmon now amen Habitual offenders, scumbag lawyers with agendas

I'll tell you sometimes people I don't know what's worse

Natural disasters or these wolves in sheep clothes pastors

Now God damn it I'm scared to send my children to church

And how can we seek salvation when our nations race relations

Got me feeling guilty of being white

But faith in human nature, our creator and our savior, I'm no saint

But I believe in what is right

Stop pointing fingers and take some blame,

Pull your future away from the flame

Open up your mind and start to live

    Stop short changing your neighbors

Living off hand outs and favors, and maybe

Give a little bit more than you got to give

    Simplify, testify, identify, rectify

And if I get high stop being so uptight

It's only human nature and I am not a stranger

So baby won't you stay with me tonight

    When a calls away

    to break the sound

I'm faden down, I need someone

    Oh to be someone

They just sinken down, and holden back

I hold the dawn and run

    They don't save a child

    Oh, to save a child

It's a matter of salvation from them patience up above,

So don't give up so damn easy on the one you love one you love

Somewhere you got a brother, sister, friend, grandmother, niece or nephew

Just dying to be with you

You know there's someone out there who unconditionally, religiously, loves you

So just hold on cause you know it's true

And if you can take the pain

And you can withstand anything, and one day

Stand hand in hand with the truth
