Why are people so stupid when it comes to believing the Bible is the word of a God?
Bible believing Christians will tell ya that the bible is the word of God and they'll quote ya verses to try and back up their claims. How can they not look at that claim and see right through it? What evidence is there that the book of books is from anyone or anything other than MAN?
15 AnswersReligion & Spirituality2 years agoAccording to Christianity, honesty is punishable by eternal torture in hell.?
Ok I want to see what kind of ridiculous justification answers I receive from this question. According to Christians, if you do not believe God exists, you will end up in hell for eternity. Looking at this from a completely un-bias point of view, somebody who says "I don't believe in God" is basically saying "I'm not convinced that there is a god" Belief is an automatic involuntary result of being convinced. Honesty is supposed to be one of the fruits of the spirit in Christianity and is often promoted as something "God" wants us to be yet those who are are HONEST and say "I'm just not convinced that the bible was inspired by anyone other than men and therefore am not convinced there is a God until there's better evidence" are destined for eternal torture LOL.. It makes absolutely ZERO sense. Belief means you are convinced. One cannot belief something if they are not convinced. Belief is also NOT a choice. One cannot "choose" what convinces them. Being convinced happens from that persons brain receiving information and based on genetic make up, DNA and the personality of that person, automatically either being convinced or not being convinced (or don't know what to believe - kinda neutral)
Please do not respond with verses from the bible as you cannot prove the bible's validity WITH the bible. I want an honest answer to this from a Christian. And please don't respond with the lame argument that atheists are suppressing the truth.
28 AnswersReligion & Spirituality4 years agoConservative mindset vs Liberal mindset?
Ok this question doesn't have much to do with actual politics but I would like to hear some thoughts on it. I am not trying to offend anyone who might be republican or conservative but again, I would love to hear some thoughts.
When it comes to a conservative, why does it aways seem like they think anything that they can't "relate" to or grasp must just be BS.. for instance.. You'll almost never hear a liberal say that mental disorders like OCD or Tourette's syndrome are "fake" disorders but in MY experience, I've had SOOO many conservatives/republicans try n' tell me this as if they know for a fact what they're talking about.. They've said things like "people with those so called disorders are either faking it to get attention" OR "they are trying to spung off the government" Haha, I've lived with both disorders my whole life and they have wreaked havoc on my life and made it VERY dark at times.. I've never been on medication for it and most definitely never "faked" any of it so when I hear a conservative say this, it just makes me think that they have this mindset of "what I don't understand must not be true"
Again, I've always heard stuff like this from conservatives.. Rush Limbaugh has said things like this as well.. Michael Savage has said stupid nonsense about autism. They just have no idea of the true facts.
The Same seems to go for any mental thing whether it be chronic depression OR anxiety or what.
Liberals SEEM to be a more open to things they don't understand..
4 AnswersOther - Politics & Government7 years agoI believe God exists but don't believe in organized religion, what am I?
Ok so I actually do believe God or "a God" exists.. I believe in the spiritual world however, that's about as far as my beliefs go.. I don't believe the bible is the devine word of God because it's hard to believe a loving all knowledgeable God would inspire to write such rubbish. The only "FACT" we as humans know is that we don't know the "FACTS" about God (assuming he exists) This is why my beliefs stop there. My beliefs are also not a choice, but more a result of being convinced. I however realize that I could be wrong about God existing.. I am very open minded.
So my question is What am I? an athiest?, an agnostic or a deist? I just want to know what category I fall into and please, those who start quoting the Bible are just going to make themselves look foolish.
20 AnswersReligion & Spirituality7 years agoNeed movie suggestions about the spanish inquisition or dark ages?
I am a fan of most intense movies from thrillers to horror movies but I'm also a HUGE fan of movies about the spanish inquisition and/or the dark ages where they had very insane ways of torturing people and just how people of that time lived. I have NO idea what movies are out there though.. I've only read stuff about those times. Please, any good suggestions would be awesome.. Also if anyone knows of any of these movies that are available on netflix instant..
Thank you!
4 AnswersMovies7 years agoLake fish in a fish tank?
Ok so when I was a kid, I was obsessed with having certain lake fish in my 20 gallon tank. I had a pumpkinseed fish for 4 years in a 20 gallon tank and it very quickely became tame and friendly.. I would feed it every insect I found in our house.. It was fun.. Then I had a small mouth bass for 2 years after the pumpkinseed fish.. I'm now 36 years old and just got a 29 gallon tank and want to do the same thing.. I just always found store bought fish a bit boring for me.
I want to hear from anyone out there who is interested in this same thing... My question is this.. What are the best lake fish to put in a tank in your opinion? I also usually would put a few crawdads in there as well.. Wife also thinks this is all weird just like me being attracted to horror flicks.. hahahaha..
I would like to hear anyone's stories of their "lake" fish that they have or have had in the past. I have actually never met anyone else who does this. I just find it fascinating to own fish that are caught out of a lake.
Thank you!
5 AnswersFish7 years agoAm I a bad person for liking horror films?
My wife thinks I need "help" for liking horror movies (more specifically movies with abductions and movies like Chainsaw Mass) I tried telling her that I'm not attracted so much to the violence but to the justice at the end of the films.. I don't know how to explain it.. I just like those types of movies and can't help it. Those types of movies have appealed to me since I was a kid (of course my parents limited what i saw) Is there anyone out there who can relate? I'm always gettin' crap for renting those movies.. it's ridiculous!! I put up w her chick flix haha.
3 AnswersMovies7 years agoA friend of mine buried his parents cat alive?
So am I the only one who thinks this is the most F'd up thing in the world? One of my old friends a while back went to visit his parents and while visiting, noticed that their cat (that was very old) was on it's last leg.. He decided to "take care of it" for his parents so they didn't have to pay to put it down and he dug a hole and put the cat in it while it was still ALIVE and just buried it as it was yowling because he didn't want to have to "kill" it first(or didn't know how). I came down on him pretty hard (this was a long time ago) but I think about it every now and then and it makes me cringe!!
He's a good guy.. really good friend and the nicest dude in the world but I couldn't believe he did that.. I want to know other peoples thoughts on this.
7 AnswersCats7 years agoIs belief an actual choice?
This topic comes up all the time in religious debates with my family.
Here is my commen sense answer to this question. Is belief a choice.. More importantly, is belief in GOD a choice?
This question has some of the dumbest answers i swear.. It just takes a little common sense to answer this. Here is MY answer on this subject. Please, no bible quoting either.. That proves nothing but simply mindedness.
The only choice people have regarding belief in something is to accept what they already believe or don't believe. If someone were to tell me that santa clause was real, there is absolutely NO way I could "choose" to believe that. So common sense tells us that belief is NOT a choice. You are either convinced, on the fence or not convinced. You cannot FORCE your heart to believe something or disbelieve something. Your belief is a product of the knowledge you have about a certain subject. It's an automatic response to something. To think that believing in GOD is a choice is absurd. Some people just cannot conceive the thought of a God... they literally cannot force themselves to believe in God... does that sound like a choice? absolutely not. I happen to believe in God but I cannot toggle back n forth.. I just believe because i'm convinced. This question requires a deeper train of thought than most. To me it's common sense but apparently there are a lot of people who think they can just choose to believe whatever they want.. wrong! If that were true, people wouldn't struggle with the concept of God.. PERIOD! There wouldn't be any struggles with believing anything because they could just "choose" to believe.... Problem solved!
Also people who say that "if you reject God, you'll pay the ultimate price" that is such a load of BS too because how can an athiest "reject" something they don't even think exists...???? If a girl comes up to a guy and says she likes him and the guy actually believed it was true, then he has the choice to accept or reject her.. THAT is a way better example of rejection. People who don't believe in God are not "rejecting" him.. Sorry to burst any christians bubbles but that is simply not true by definition. To reject something or someone, you first have to "know" that it exists so that you can reject it... duh!
