I am a 52 year old female blood (and platelet) donor who is active in my tenant association, fosters and rescues animals (30+ years) and has worked in the charitable sector for about 18 years. I am also trained in Perinatal Bereavement (I worked at the SIDS Foundation for 6 years) as well as with the National Organization for Victim Assistance (NOVA). I believe in leaving the world better than how I found it and do this one person/animal/plant/issue/Yahoo question at a time.

  • Should I add a job I've only been at for 6 months to my resume?

I started a new job in February, but have quickly discovered that the office culture (and especially, the E.D.) are toxic. There have been 7 people in my position in 5 years and I now know why. Should I include this job on my resume and risk the stigma of not being able to keep a job and if so, what do I respond at a potential interview when asked why I want to leave? It's been suggested that I say "the job was not as advertised" but then I'll have to provide details. Suggestions please?

  • Problems viewing emails with the new Yahoo?

When I upgraded to the new Yahoo, all the print changed to really small, and I can barely read my emails. When I go to the "help" section, there is no indication how to change the window and type size. Can someone please tell me how to change the size so I can read everything, as I could not find a link from the Yahoo "help" list for this. NOTE: If Yahoo believes that all their users are young pups who can read 8-font type, then they are going to lose a lot of Boomers as clients.

  • Feng Shui Question - new apartment baguas are confusing?

I am moving to an apartment where the main (building) door is in the east, my apartment front door (#502) will be in the south, my kitchen in the southwest and my bedroom will be in the northeast. How do I orient the directions by:

    1) the east, for the building front door

    2) the south, where my apartment front door will be

    3) or do I just use my apartment front door as the starting point and put the appropriate cures in the areas as if my door were in the north.

I've called a few feng shui stores and schools and they each give me a different answer. Since I rescue and foster animals, I need my place to be safe on all levels.

    Please and thank you.

  • How would a shy, quiet gay man meet new friends in Toronto, ON?

A friend has recently moved from South America to Toronto and has asked my help in meeting friends who are also gay. In his country, his sexual preference would get him lynched or even killed. He is not looking for sex or a relationship (yet), but would like to meet like-minded men who he could talk to. Location is in Toronto, Ontario, Canada

  • What does it mean when you suddenly find foods to be too salty? Can Chinese medicine explain this?

In the last couple of months, I am finding almost all foods (especially restaurant foods) to be overly salty to the point that they are sour. Has anyone ever heard of this and if so, what's the solution? I've never been a heavy salt user (quite the opposite) and this is driving me crazy!

  • Are you aware of new pet food recalls?

This Just In: New Pet Foods Voluntarily Recalled

The ASPCA recommends that pet parents immediately discontinue the use of the following products that were recalled earlier this week:

    - Krasdale Gravy Dry Dog Food (recalled by Mars Petcare US Inc.)

    - Import-Pingyang Pet Product Co. Chicken Jerky Strips (pulled from shelves by Wal-Mart)

    - Shanghai Bestro Trading Chicken Jerky (pulled from shelves by Wal-Mart)

How often do you check the pet food recall sites (if you check them at all, ie: http://www.aspca.org/site/PageServer?pagename=reca... are you concerned about the food you give your pets and do you understand what the "by-products" in pet food are (including euthanized and roadkill animals or "rendered" animals)?

  • Did you know that some U.S. Walmarts sell non-organic food as organic?

Recently the U.S. Department of Agriculture indentified several cases of outright fraudulent labeling of foods as "organic" at Wal-Mart stores. As well, Wal-Mart is the 8th largest importer of goods from China, including all things tainted (baby formula, pet food, lead-painted toys, toxic clothing).

Will this make you think twice about buying goods at Wal-Mart?

  • Vets say not to give aspirin or ibuprofen to cats. What does it do to them and is it painful?

My neighbour is giving her cat a quarter of a pink baby aspirin every day for arthritis pain relief (she appears to be fine) yet I don't understand why this seems to be acceptable to her vet. I've heard that giving any kind of human pain reliever to cats is fatal. What does it do to them internally and in the event of death, is it painful or peaceful?
