  • How can I keep the peace between older cat new kitten in a tiny apartment?

My GF and I recently adopted a 3mo kitten. We live in a 1br apartment with my 11yo cat and her 13yo cat.

My GF pushed hard for kitten in the first place; I was initially against it but now he's my baby and I'm in love with him.

For the most part, kitten & my cat just avoid each other. However, kitten is very interested in GF's cat; trying to play, pounce on him, and snuggle with him when he's trying to bathe. I don't think he'd mind the playing, except that he has arthrtitis and is missing some teeth, so he can't really match kitten's energy. I can tell sometimes he just wants to be left alone.

Tonight, kitten pounced on GF's cat and left old cat limping for a while afterwards. We also found poop in the bedroom; GF thinks her cat pooped there because he's stressed. My GF burst into tears and said she's afraid the kitten might seriously hurt her cat while we're both at work. I suggested locking kitten in the bedroom during the day, but she felt that wouldn't be fair to the kitten, as the last time we locked him in a room he cried for hours. She's having second thoughts about the kitten. I think it is too late for second thoughts, he is part of our family and we need to make it work.

Our apartment is too small for each cat to really have their own space. Wherever GF's cat goes, kitten tries to follow. How can we give GF's cat the space he needs? Does kitten need more stimulation? What should we do when we're both at work and unable to supervise? I'd appreciate any advice.

  • grape seeds or tapeworm eggs?

Very strange question. Today when I went to the bathroom I noticed small yellowish objects when I wiped. My hypochondriac brain immediately jumped to the conclusion of parasites, and one quick Google search later I found they did indeed resemble tapeworm eggs. However, remembering I had eaten grapes just a few hours before, I also looked up grape seeds – they're almost identical.

I have been experiencing occasional abdominal pains, but that could also be attributed to my period.

How can I tell whether they are grape seeds or parasite eggs? (Also tapeworm remedy recommendations would be great)

  • Which prescription is which?

I have two prescription ointments. One is a hydrocortisone and the other is a triamcinolone acetonide. Both are used for similar skin irritations, and neither are advised to use on the face or under the arms. Which are exactly the two areas they're prescribed to me for.

One is for irritation (itching and flaking) in my ears, the other for irritation (redness and pain) under my arms. But I went a while without using them and now I can't remember which is for which. Any idea which ointment sounds more appropriate for which part? Do you think they're relatively interchangeable– is it okay if I mixed them up?

  • Aching pain under left armpit?

I have a dull ache under my left armpit that seems to come and go. It hurts more if I press down on the area. It is under the skin and there is no lump that I can feel. I have a history of swollen lymph nodes but those usually don't hurt, and like I said, there's no lump this time. Any ideas as to the cause?

  • Good deodorant for sensitive skin?

My armpits get really irritated really easily. The skin gets itchy and flaky and I get pimples. I don t shave my armpits so I know that s not the issue. I ve tried switching deodorants several times, including Certain Dri recommended by my doctor, and nothing has helped so far. I feel best when I wear no deodorant at all, but then I stink. Any recommendations?

  • Irritated armpits?

On and off for months now, both my armpits have been super irritated. Sometimes they itch, sometimes they hurt, sometimes there are flakes, sometimes there are bumps. I've tried switching deodorants, I've tried no deodorant at all, I've tried different soaps, shampoos, and just washing with water, I've completely stopped shaving, and still they are irritated. My doctor prescribed me an ointment, which I tried for a while and saw little improvement. Right now the left one is dry and flaky, while the right one is moist and foul-smelling. Both are discolored and bumpy. What could this be / what can I do?

Also, the ointment is triamcinolone acetonide... does anyone know if I can still use it after its expiration date / whether it would still do anything?

  • Really dumb pill mistake?

So I've taken birth control pills for about 4 years and never done anything this dumb before. I ended my placebo week and started the next month of pills... upside down. Like, I started with the last pill in the packet, and only had two pills left in its row when I realized it was PLACEBO PILLS I HAD BEEN TAKING ALL WEEK.

So basically, I took placebos for 2 weeks straight. Way to go, me.

I'm not sexually active (thank god for that, I would be SO SCREWED if I was), I just use it for period regulation. These last couple days I've had a couple pangs of abdominal cramps, which may or may not be related.

I'm not worried, I just kind of... started the next week of pills like normal, but does anyone know what effects this massive screwup might have on me, my body or my cycle? And what, if anything, I can do to make it better?

  • Apples give me indigestion?

When I eat apples or drink apple cider I usually get stomachaches and nausea, and sometimes even diarrhea. Is this normal? Am I just not used to eating foods with lots of fiber in them, or do I have some sort of allergy or intolerance to apples?

  • Thinking of dying my bleached platinum blonde hair a darker color?

Is there anything I should know? I've had my hair bleached regularly for about 3 years now but now I want to go like a caramel brown. Is there anything special I should do to prevent damage to my hair or should I be fine just applying the dye right over my bleached hair?

  • My cat is throwing up a lot?

I've found cat vomit 2 or 3 times this week. It's mostly clear liquid, sometimes with what appears to be grass. She is shedding a lot but there's no hair in the vomit. She is fat and not very active and I think I probably overfeed her. Lately she's been sitting in the same place a lot and for long periods of time. She hasn't shown any sign of being uncomfortable or in pain. Should I be worried? What should I do?

  • Do you have to start having pap smears at the age of 21 whether or not you are sexually active by then?

Everyone says you should get regular pap smears by the time you're 21, but is that assuming you are having or have had sex? If I still have never had sex by the time I am 21, will I still have to get a pap smear?

  • "Puta" literal translation?

I know it's the Spanish equivalent of the word "*****" but what does the word literally mean (in the sense that a ***** is a female dog and a whore is a prostitute, etc)?

  • Dark shadow on part of iPhone screen?

I dropped my iPhone and now the right half of the screen looks like it's covered in a shadow. It's subtle and I can still see everything but there's clearly a dark patch. I turned it off and on again and the shadow is still there. It has a thin case and a screen protector that's supposed to be impact resistant, and I've dropped it many times before without any problems. Is this permanent damage? Is there any way I can fix it?

  • Do I have bronchitis?

A few weeks ago I came down with a nasty cough, which evolved into a stuffy sneezy cold. The cold eventually went away but I was still coughing after two weeks. It died down during the third week, but now I think it's back. I feel like I have goop in my lungs. The coughs don't hurt, but every cough produces phlegm.

Could this be bronchitis? Pneumonia? What do you think is wrong with me?

  • What's wrong with my ear?

A long time ago I stopped wearing earbuds because my inner ears were starting to ache. Not long after they started itching and hurting really bad, especially in the right ear. It doesn't help that I keep scratching it and I think I've probably cut myself from scratching and reopened the scabs a bunch of times. It's been several months and now the inside of my right ear is constantly itching and flaking, sometimes with sharp pains too. What is this? Is it an ear infection? Is there anything I can do without seeing a doctor?

  • Have I lost the ability to smell ammonia?

My mom says my bathroom smells awful because of the litter box but I can't smell anything. I know what cat pee smells like and I've smelled it before, but I don't smell this at all. I smell other things perfectly fine.

  • Bleeding butt?

Often when I go to the bathroom I find a small amount of blood upon wiping. It appears to be coming from my butt area, but not directly from my anus. It almost seems as though there's some sort of little cut toward the end of my buttcrack that keeps reopening when I sit down to go to the bathroom??

I wouldn't be too concerned about it if it hadn't been happening for so long. It's been a few months now...

  • Vagina boogers?? (super gross sorry)?

I occasionally find small, squishy blobs down there. I'm not sexually active and I don't really masturbate a whole lot. These are different from normal vaginal discharge in that they're a solid mass... basically, they look and feel just like boogers. Is this normal? Could it be a sign of a yeast infection or something?
