At its peak (around the start of the first world war} Scotland sustained around 5 million people. How many more could it look after today? My guess is no many.

4 AnswersLanguages10 years agoVallhalla Rising & Bridget Jones Diary? Can there be any reconciliation?
My girlfriend asked me to watch with her a bit of fluffy, middle class English drivelling wit about a "gel" having difficulties in finding her "beau." It was shite. Within 15 minutes, I walked off. On other hand, the mythic drama of a barbaric slave transubstanting to a god-like status was rivetting! She left in two mins!
3 AnswersRap and Hip-Hop10 years agoOldest mention of phrase Snake in the Grass.?
I've traced to 1690, "Serpent under Herb" tho it must be much older. Latin or Greek? Nothing in the bible exactly matches it. Thanks.
1 AnswerWords & Wordplay1 decade agoNothing is impossible! What is the best example you have of exploding this myth?
The most I can come up with is "anything that defies the laws of physics." And a Shetland saying:"Canst du skrech yer hough mit yer hind-maist yachlle?" implying that unless you can "scratch your backside with your back teeth" it is impossible to speak like a Shetlander.
7 AnswersPhilosophy1 decade agoIf Americans had taxation WITH representation would they have been as Revolting?
Sure, American colonists hated Tax (as do all selfish and greedy people). But if the German King of Britain had Americans to help Govern the greatest Empire ever held, would the World have been a better place ro live in? I personally doubt it.
3 AnswersOther - Taxes1 decade agoReligion. Seeking reference to phrase "Yet LORD thou hast brought me through all this dark trance of Childhood?
Researching an old book. Sentence says, "Yet LORD thou hast brought me through all this dark trance of Childhood," 1 Kings, 18. 26. But I cannot find any chapter or verse in the Bible that seems relevant. Thank you, anyone, who can put light on it.
1 AnswerReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat is the origin of the phrase "the milk of human kindness"?
I reckon I already know some of the answer, but many years ago as a child I saw an illustration from an old book showing a decrepit, dying, toothless man being breast fed by a Roman (maybe Greek) woman in ancient, pre Christian times. Can anyone point me to that picture? And would any modern western female express such kind humanity today?

20 AnswersHistory1 decade agoShould all sorts of drugs be allowed in the Olympics?
After all, we want to watch freaks doing freaky things that we could never (or want) to do ourselves. So let's let them show us how it can be done, using the latest in modern advancements. For example: Run for a bus in under 8 seconds? So what. I wanna see them catch that bus and lift it above their heads and throw it 100metes apon a rowing six on water. I wanna a see a modern Olympics, with the best that money, technology and drugs can buy. Otherwise, I'm switching off.

6 AnswersYahoo Answers1 decade agoI'm single (divorced), she's married, and we're in love! What should we do?
We've done the deed, and it's the best either of us have ever experienced. Been seeing each other secretly for 3 months and it's so good. BUT her hubby will never accept losing her and we hate feeling guilty and furtive. So I've ended it. But it's not finished, if you see what I mean. How do we minimise damage to all involved? It's a classic, I know.
