  • When will my milk come in?

Hi everyone. I just had my little boy on the 27th. He is baby number 3 for me. With my other two I leaked a lot while pregnant and started producing milk by the time I was home from the hospital. With this pregnancy I did not leak at all and he is 3 days old and my milk has still not come in. I am producing colostrom but not very much. My breasts are a little bit bigger and softer so I think something is happening, but still no milk. I have read online it can take a few day for your milk to come but I guess I'm just used to it coming in right away with my others.

Has anyone else had this happen with their later pregnancies? Is there anything I should be doing? Can I still pump anyway even if nothing comes out? I'm starting to think it will never ce in :0( not really sure what to do....

  • How do you grieve over someone you never knew?

I was adopted as in infant. I have since been in reunion with my first mom. I know who my birth dad is, but have only spoken to him once and that was a few years ago. I didnt really persue a relationship with him at all, nor him me. He was sick at the time, but I guess it never really crosed my mind that if I wanted to have some kind of relationship with him I should do it now before he dies. Well he did die a few months ago. It had been 2 years since the first and only time I spoke with him. Now I really regret not getting to know him. I dont have contact with anyone in his family, I just happened to be searching his name online one day and came across his obituary. The first and only pic I got to see of him was in that obit.

Anyway, I told my birthmom about it. She was sorry for me. I think she knew I must be a little sad. But I dont think she realizes how SAD I really am about it. I didnt lose him once, I lost him twice.

His body was cremated and there is no headstone to go visit. So my question is....how do I grieve for him? I really feel like I need to. Im super depressed about it all and most people dont understand why Im sad about someone that I didnt even know. Its hard to explain to them because they dont know what it feel like to be adopted.

  • Music lessons for a child with a learning disability?

Does anyone have a child with a LD involved in music lessons? Im not sure if a regular music teacher will be able to teach a special needs child. My son is 9 and has been diagnosed with LD/ADHD. He can do the same things other kids can do, it just takes him a little longer than most kids his age would. Im not really sure where to get started to get him involved with music. He is an amazing singer and I think he has inherited my families musical abilities.

  • Why do birthmothers not want contact after years of reunion?

I've been in reunion for years now. The first few years were great, but now my birthmom does not contact me anymore or return my emails. She didnt even wish me a happy birthday this year. Why do you think things were fine for the first few years and now she wants nothing to do with me? I know its probably painful and the "honeymoon" period is over, but its just as painful for me as it is for her.

  • IL Child support and contempt?

How far behind can a non custodial parent be on child support before they are held in contempt? When do they have their drivers license suspended and when do they go to jail?

  • How do I get an eye pin to stick in a fimo bead?

I've started a new bead making hobby and I make the beads out of fimo. I was told that I should put the eye pin in the fimo before it is baked otherwise the fimo is too hard to insert into. But the eye pins keep falling out of the fimo after it is baked. How do I get the eye pin to stay in there? Is there a secret I should know about? I dont want to use glue because I dont want to mess up the beads.

  • Adopting an older child?

First off, I am an adoptee.

My husband and I have been talking about adopting an older child from the foster care system. We feel we would make great parents for so many reasons.Especially becasue we have a great knowledge of adoption loss/trauma from personal experience, and also experience raising our own son who has development problems (Aspergers)

Anyway, I HATE asking this because I dont believe children should not be "bought" or paid for. But I am wondering if there is any kind of financial assistance to help families wanting to adopt older children. We just dont have the money to pay for home studies and what not. Im sure most people would say that the child needs a family that has a lot of money, but I disagree.

Anyway, what kinds of costs are associated in adopting an older child?

  • Do I have a pinched nerve?

My pinkie and ring finger have had like a tingly-numb feeling to it the last few weeks. Then today I got in the car and out of nowhere I got this really sharp pain in my back that traveled down my arm. My back and shoulder hurnt and my fingers are now almost completely numb. I cant move my neck left at all. I thought for sure it was a pinched nerve, but now I feel weird in my head too on the left side where my shoulder hurts. My head just feels tingly on that side, not painful or anything. Any ideas?

  • What should I do about my adopted cousin?

My sister and I are both adopted. We have a little cousin (10 years younger in her teens) who is also adopted from the same agency.

I have been in reunion for a few years now and consider myself fairly knowledgable on adoption trauma, loss, that comes with it.

I know my cousin has expressed interest in her birth family. I see her adoptive parents telling her small lies like....lying about the fathers age, so that she would not feel left out or different from her other cousins/peers. This outrages me because I feel like no parent should lie to their child, but if they are lying about something that stupid than what else about her adoption are they not telling her.

I feel like I have some sort of a responsibility to tell her parents these things. Not to condemn them, but to point them in the right direction as to not cause unneccasary pain later in my cousins life. I want them to know from an adoptee point of view that if she comes to them with questions regarding her adoption that they should be open and honest with her.

What is the best way to approach them? Should I do it on my own? or perhaps have my adoptive mom mention something to them since she has now realized after my own reunion that the secrets have done more harm than good? Any suggestions?

  • Does my child qualify for disability?

Im just curious if my child qualifies for disability. He was born with cleft lip palate. He is ADD/ learning disability, boarderline Autistic. We are constantly taking him to doctors and he needs special care at school with speech, occupational therapy ect. He has had numerous operations which require me to take off work.

The reason i ask is because we would like to get him more help outside of school in the way of a tutor. He is not receiving enough at school, but we cannot afford a tutor that charges hundreds of dollars a month for only a few hours.

Just curious what my options are. Or does anyone know a way to get help paying for a tutor for their child with a disability without actually collecting disability?
