This is a question proposed to me in my quantum mechanics course. We have been discussing the rigid rotor in two and three dimensions and the extension of these concepts to the orbitals of atoms. However, what if the world was strictly? two-dimensional. How would this affect the possible orbitals and then what would the periodic table look like?

A sample of 0.148 g of a gaseous hydrocarbon having the chemical formula CnH2n+2 reacts completely with an excess of oxygen gas and carbon dioxide and water. The reaction takes place in a 0.400 L container. Before the reaction, the pressure and temperature in the container are 1.8323 atm and 0 ºC, respectively. After the reaction, the pressure and temperature are 2.7957 atm and 100 ºC, respectively. Find the chemical formula of the hydrocarbon.

A conceptual question: In Chemistry, Hydrogen has always been regarded as an "outlier" of sorts--exhibiting the characteristics of family 1 elements yet only have one valence electron filling the 1s orbital. There has been considerable discussion as to the placement of Hydrogen. Some scholars have wanted to place it in family 17 due to its ability to form -1 ions and because it creates a perfect number triad with Fluorine and Chlorine.

I have a homework assignment based on this theory. Now I am asked, "What justification would there be in placing Hydrogen in Column 14? What about offset from the main body of the periodic table?"

I just heard the name of this app, yet I can't remember it's name. This has been in and out of the news for a while now and it is supposedly semi-controversial. It is an iPod app that produces a wide range of sounds that can apparently alter your sleep. People have claimed that it can produce sounds that invoke horrible nightmares, help you sleep better, or induce a sleep of which you can never awake from. I have tried Google-ing it, but to no avail.

What is the name?

I might be paraphrasing the lyrics a bit, but this was on a recent commercial and I can't remember what it was.

I know that a soliloquy is when a single person steps out of the scene on stage and talks directly to himself or to the audience. But what do you call that for when two people do that? For instance, two people stepping out of the scene, having their own discussion. I can't remember the specifc term.

It's another dreaded trip up to San Francisco from California's Central Valley. Time is an issue here, so I can't take the scenic route using 101 N. I was planning on taking 99N to SR-152 through Los banos and Gilroy until it hits the 101 towards San Jose. How fast do you go on SR-152? The posted speed limit is 55 MPH and anybody who actually drives that speed is going to get shot. It's just like going to the central coast, if you actually drive the speed limit on that one-lane road, you'll get shot in no time. The 99N is no problem for me, because the speed limit is 70 and I ususally go 75-80, which is reasonable. So my question is, what speed to you "reccomend" and if anybody can think of any alternative routes, I'd be glad to have your suggestions.

I have been wracking my brain trying to figure it out. Usually when you see a video montage of explosions, there is an orchestral piece that is played. What is the name of this piece and who is the composer?

I would like to watch the entire thing if possible.

For example, if you graph the function f(x)=x^(2/3) it will bounce at the origin. What is the term for what this function does?

Due to the nature of my trips, to get to Orange County from Bakersfield, I take I-5 until it meets up with the I-405 and take that until I need to get off. I have heard from several of my friends taht because of the frequent traffic congestion, that simply taking I-5 until Highway 22 creates a faster drive. Does anybody have any opinions on this issue.

This is really annoying.. I posted a question similar to this earlier and I kept getting yes... no... yes.... no.... (you get the point). Is there anybody that has a reliable source and proof that can answer this question?

I was just wondering this after seeing the episode of Bones when they were trapped in the car. If you could put the chemical equation and why it reacts I would be very grateful because I have been trying to search for the answer on teh internet but haven't found anything?
