What will the Hawks/Heat do-over mean for betters?
According to a news release "The Atlanta Hawks and Miami Heat must replay the final 51.9 seconds of their game last month because the official scorer ruled incorrectly that Shaquille O'Neal fouled out, the league said Friday."
If the result is different from the original game, how will that affect people who legally wagered on the game and collected or loss money?
3 AnswersBasketball1 decade agoRecently I've been getting an error message when trying to send attachments. Why?
I've recently tried to send attachments from My Documents from Word and Works that are small. I've had no trouble attaching these types of files to mail before. I get an error message reading "Invalid file specified. Please try again." Of course, it doesn't work when I try again! Any ideas?
4 AnswersAttachments and Photos1 decade agoIs there a mathematical symbol or formula for this physics-related concept?
I hope I can express this concept. . . Is there a symbol or a mathematical symbol or formula that means the speed and the place something occupies is the same? I don't mean zero movement, but where something is going so fast that it is in all places at once? Is there a point where a distance becomes so small that velocity and place are one without relation to the particle size? The concept I think has been addressed in quantum physics, but I was just wondering if there is a mathematical symbol or formula to describe it. Thank you.

4 AnswersOther - Social Science1 decade agoWhy are there so few atheists/agnostics in public office?
In my experiences, there are many, many doubters in the world. At times I wonder if they are the silent majority. Is it intolerance by believers? Are they just afraid to stand up?
20 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoAre we entering a new Dark Age?
A cursory review of history suggests that Dark Ages are preceded by hysterical religious beliefs and a fear of discovery and science. Mr. Bush's veto today made me once again ponder if this is what is happening to the world.
8 AnswersOther - Arts & Humanities1 decade agoIs there a punctuation error in "Eats, Shoots and Leaves" by Lynne Truss?
recently purchased the first trade paperback printing (April 2006) of this book. On page 18, the author is discussing some anectodal research. Following is a quote from the book:
But we had evidently stumbled into Grammar Greek Alley, and there was nothing we could do. "Of course I punctuate my text messages, I did A-level English," one young man explained, with a look of scorn.
My question is this: Is it incorrect to place a comma between the two independent clauses "Of course I punctuate my text messages" and "I did A-level English,"? Should it be a period or a semi-colon? I was taught that separating two independent clauses with a comma was called a "comma splice" and is incorrect. From my understanding the author is quoting what was heard and is not quoted from any text the speaker had written. Please enlighten me. Thank you.

What motivates them to behave so awfully? Is there something psychologically wrong with them? Are they jerks in person, too?

Please do not use full names. "Mr. S." or Ms. D." or "my 8th grade science teacher" should be used. Please tell why you thought they were such good teachers. Sincere responses only please. Thank you!

Sincere responses only please. What kind of classroom discipline do you think is the best? Why is that? Thank you!

Young people deserve to have sincere questions answered, but I have to guess that many using Yahoo Answers are unsupervised. Too many of the questions and comments posed by (apparently) teens and children are extremely crude and often very cruel and insensitive. They do not know the Answers Rules of Conduct/Community Guidelines. Some even give out personal and contact information about themselves or others!
