  • How do I start my own wildlife sanctuary?

I am currently waiting for admission into an animal program in California. I am considering with being a wildlife rehabilitator. The job is tough, but would be very rewarding to nurse and help animals recuperate and heal.

In the future I would like to open a wildlife sanctuary or a possible animal school where people can be trained to work with wildlife. How do I go about doing this?

I need approval from the state and local government board, proper licensing. What else is required? Thank you for your answers in advance!

  • What 1990s vehicles are good quality for rally car racing?

I am planning in the future to attend a rally car racing school. It would be neat to become a professional rally car driver. What vehicles from the 1990s (maybe early 2000s) are durable and tough enough to withstand specific driving requirements? My friends have suggested a 1995 Suburu Impreza. Are there any other vehicles that would be a possibility?

As far as the money goes, in the near future I wil have around 7-8 grand. I am just completing college right now. Thank you in advance!

  • What provokes a cat to purr?

I have always wondered why cats purr. I think it is when they are content and happy. Maybe that's not the reason at all. It is very comforting when my own cat purrs, and it relieves any worries and stress I currently had. Why do cats purr though? Thank you for your answers in advance!

  • Have you ever had any encounters with wildlife?

Several years ago my Dad and I went camping in Robinson Creek, CA. We were asleep in the back of his truck when a young grizzly bear emerged several yards away. He began tearing into food and bags, and my Dad woke up and grabbed a gun from the toolbox. The campers near us ran out with pots and pans, and clashed them together, scaring the grizzly bear away. It was nerve-racking! My Dad and I were fine though, we were just a bit shaken.

Have any of you ever had a close encounter with a wild animal? Thank you for answering in advance!

  • Rent a home, apartment, or room after graduating college?

What are the pros and cons of renting a home, an apartment, or a room after completing college and eventually finding a job? I am curious because in the near future I may be continuing my education at a four year. Would purchasing an apartment or a home be beneficial, or not a smart thing to do right away?

Prior and past experiences with purchasing or renting a place would be very nice. Thank you in advance!

  • Have modern-day vehicles gone too far?

I have a 2009 civic with bluetooth enabled. I do not use it as of right now because I am still living at home with my parents. Newer vehicles being produced today are beginning to scare me a little bit. Audi has a new vehicle which self-parks for you with the click of an app on your smart phone. Ford's focus and other vehicles parallel park for you. Wouldn't there be a chance of a malfunction in both cases? What do you think about it? When are auto companies going to start offering basic, user-friendly vehicles again?

  • Should wild animals be trained to do tricks?

Is it humane to have wild animals perform tricks for human enjoyment? I used to enjoy seeing animals in live shows performing for audiences. I initially thought I was going to be a dolphin trainer. I now have a different perspective against some zoos in general, and do not like seeing animals being manipulated for human entertainment. I would rather protect and nuture animals back to health and release them eventually back into the wild then have them perform in shows. What are your opinions? Thank you in advance!

  • How do you star in a commercial?

I have always wondered how you get chosen to be in a commercial. Is it difficult to be selected? Do you have to send a head shot to the production company? How does it all work?

  • What does a wildlife rehabilitator do for a living?

I am interested in becoming a wildlife rehabilitator in the near future. I have always been fascinated with working with wild animals. I don't know enough about what wildlife rehabilitators do. I understand they help injured animals and nurse them around the clock, but what else do they do? Thank you in advance.

  • What three things would you take to survive in the wilderness?

If you were stranded in the wilderness and could not use an electronic device for communication, how would you adapt to the environment? What three essential materials would you bring with you until help arrived? Where would you set up camp?

  • Are therre any no-kill animal shelters in California or any other states?

I am very interested in working with animals. I have had an affinity for them my entire life. I was wondering if there are any no-kill animal shelters in California as well as other states. In the near future I might be looking for a position there. I am already prepared for the types of conditions the animals may be in beforehand. Thank you for your answers in advance!

  • What should I expect as my cat gets older?

My cat just turned 15 several weeks ago. He gets the healthiest food possible, and fresh water, a comfortable bed, and plenty of love and affection. He has recently had more of the head-shaking episodes as of late, and his demands have increased. He will not let me or my parents out of his sight. I try spending as much time with him as I can, because I know his life is becoming more limited. What should I expect, and what can I do to make his final years more comfortable?

  • Why did American Idol choose Nicki Minaj as a judge?

I have always liked watching American Idol. The show is both exciting and entertaining (at times). For this year, I don't necessarily agree with Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey being selected as judges at all. Nicki has made some profane and unnecessary comments at times. Mariah, to me, is a bit too soft-spoken, but she is all right. Why did the producers like Nicki Minaj so much? Why not somebody like Amy Lee from Evanescence, or P!nk (Alecia Beth)? She is kind of snooty sometimes, and her makeup is bizarre and different. I love listening to her music, I just don't understand why she is on American Idol. (It is probably for the large slump of cash she will have through the contract) IDK. Thank you in advance!

  • How do you convert cat years to human years?

I think for the past seven years, I have been converting my cat's years to human years incorrectly. I thought dog years were adding by four. I then believed adding cat years began with 2 years as a kitten for two years. Then, adding by seven years? My cat is 15 now, so would that make him 105, or much older? Please help me out! I tell my parents I know how the age system works, but I actually have no clue. Thank you in advance!

  • What careers would be a viable option if I do not transfer to a four year?

I am currently attending a community college and am taking courses with the natural sciences emphasis. My primary passion is working with animals. I applied this spring to a prestigious animal program, but am not guaranteed of being selected (only fifty or so applicants are chosen every year). I understand I may regret saying this now, but I wish I was in the work force right now. My main goal is to be a wildlife rehabilitator, but this may not be a feasible option for me. What other possible careers with a natural sciences two year degree could I consider if I end up not transferring or attending a vocational school? Please provide any possible options, animal related or not. Thank you very much!

  • How do I transfer to Humboldt State University?

I am currently waiting to find out if I am going to be enrolled in an animal program at Moorpark College for two years. I find out in May if I have been chosen or not. If I am not selected, I am very interested in attending Humboldt State University for the Wildlife Conservation/Management degree. I am almost finished with my 2-year degree, and have one more semester (hopefully to go). I am working towards my two year degree as well as meeting the Natural Sciences Emphasis. I have already seen my counselor for transferring reqs, and need to know if there is a program at Humboldt that can help disabled students. My first semester I took: English Comp, Intermediate Algebra, Political Systems, and Theatre. The second semester I took: Zoology, Beginning Ceramics, and First Aid & CPR/AED. The third semester I took: California History, Oceanography, Volleyball, Creative Writing and Advanced Ceramics. This semester I am taking: College Algebra, Cultural Anthropology, Physical Geography, and Botany. I have already looked at sites like assist.org. With my counselor she said I have taken two of the four Golden Rule courses. For this fall I have to take Biological Anthropology, Communications, and General Chemistry. Please provide any info on what classes will transfer to Humboldt. I would really appreciate it!
