  • How much Chicken & Corn should I buy for a party?

I'm throwing a birthday party for my son. We're serving pulled pork sandwiches with coleslaw, Grilled chicken (Drumsticks, thighs, wings), potato salad, pasta salad, cucumber salad, and corn on the cob.

Our parents are handling everything but the the chicken and the corn. How much of each should I buy for a party of 32 adults, and 6 kids?

  • A song about deciding to stay in a relationship even though you feel betrayed?

Long story but my husband and I went through a bad rough patch. He didn't mean to, but he hurt me very badly and it was to the point that I was possibly going to leave. I decided to stay, it's been almost a year since that happened and we are doing fantastic but sometimes I still have trouble. I am making a playlist that reflects our relationship from the very beginning until now to help me on the tough days and I can't find a song that fits where i felt devastated but decided to try to stay anyway.

  • What's the best way to deal with someone who has deeply hurt you?

I don't want to get into the gory details as to why but my husband & I have had a pretty major falling out with his step sister. She betrayed us in a way that we're not comfortable moving past with her now and maybe not ever, who knows. I do want to keep the peace though for family gatherings. I do not feel like it is ever OK to give an ultimatum and tell people who they can invite to their own house while I am there and we do not want to miss out on family events either so we will have to deal with having her in our life. The rest of the family at this point doesn't even know we're fighting. Up until this point we have only had to see her at parties so it's been easy to just avoid talking to her. End of the month though we are getting together for a small family dinner just my husbands mom, stepdad, and all the kids. I am really nervous, I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable but I don't know if I am going to be able to pretend like everything is fine either. I thought maybe bringing some board games might help so I don't have to wory about talking to her but my husband thinks it'll force us to be closer. Any ideas?

  • Is there a way I can set off husband's alarm or turn his sound on from my phone?

Hubby has a bad habit of waking up turning off his alarms and falling right back to sleep. I need a way to either be able to turn his phone's sound or alarm on remotely or maybe there is a device I can get that I can get to make noise using my phone? I'm at work right now and I can almost guarantee he's still sleeping and will be late for his physical therapy appointment today.

  • Is this normal when you start a diet?

I started a new diet and exercise routine about a month ago. I am using an app on my phone to track my calorie intake and I am getting up most mornings to do dance workout videos for a 1/2 hour before work. I thought I was doing well my clothes feel like they fit better, but I weighed myself after 3 weeks and I hadn't lost a pound!

Is this normal? Am I maybe just gaining muscle first and then I'll start to lose lbs or should I start trying something new?

  • Which camera is better?

I need a new camera. Nothing too fancy. Basically I have a son and he is a very fast paced subject lol. I want good quality photos and a camera that will keep up. The one I have now takes about 10 seconds to start up and that's just way too long. Plus when he's running around the images tend to be blurry. I narrowed it down to two cameras I just need some help with the technical specs. The canon seems to have some cooler functions like the wifi, I just don't want to sacrifice quality.

  • No cook or cook in advance lunch ideas for One year old?

My wonderful mother watches my son during the day while I am at work. Now that he is basically completely off of baby food and eating all regular table food I want to either be able to cook his lunches ahead of time or get some no cook ideas for lunches. My mom does so much (And really delights in taking care of him) I just don't want to make it any harder on her than taking care of a baby is.

He does like PB & J, & tuna salad so those are good but any different quick simple lunch ideas would be welcomed! Maybe something I can make a large batch of for the week or a few days?

  • Should my sister have gotten my son a birthday present?

I am feeling a little annoyed. My sister who is also my sons god mother could not make it to his birthday party. . She lives far and she had to work so i understand but what's really upsetting to me was it was his 1st birthday, she didn't send a gift, or a card or even call. Maybe I a being overly sensitive but I feel like she should have at least acknowledged this huge milestone in some way.

  • Night terrors or teething?

My 1 yr old has been waking up the past few nights pretty much every hour or so screaming. It lasts about a minute and he goes back to sleep himself pretty much all the time. so far we only needed to console him once and i think it's because he didn't nurse well before bed & was hungry. I was searching for information and the same things kept popping up. Molars or night terrors. I am thinking molars only because he is giving me issues with nursing too. Can you please tell me what you think and why? Any links with research on either would also be greatly appreciated.

  • What is a good body/facial scrub?

I used to use pure simplicity hydrating fig scrub by bath and body works but they stopped making it :-(. It was thick almost like petroleum jelly only not greasy and the particles were somewhat large but not too sharp so i could use it both on my face and my body. It was very moisturizing i never even had to use moisturizer when i was done. Any full body super moisturizing scrubs out there? I'll take diy recipes as well i don't mind making it as long as it works.

  • How should a disposable diaper fit a baby?

My son is 9 months old tall and slender so diapers never seem to fit quite right. I am specifically curious how low the tabs should be? It seems like when he tries to walk the tabs slip off so i am wondering if the size he is in is too short.

  • What are some non perishable lunch ideas to be kept in the car?

My husband travels to clients offices a lot during the day and he never knows when he'll have a chance to eat. Stopping and buying lunch while out is just getting too expensive. What are some ideas of foods he can just take with him and leave in the car so he can grab it when he has time? We already have peanut butter sandwiches and granola bars but I want to be able to give him a variety of suggestions.

  • 31 weeks pregnant and having second thoughts, am I a bad person?

Basically lately people have been telling me horror stories. My friend just told me about her cousins terrible labor and yesterday two women were telling me about how their marriage changed because of having children and they both wound up getting divorced (Frankly those women's husbands were bad husbands to begin with they just realized it once they had kids). Now I know labor is hard and things will change, we waited three years after getting married to get pregnant because we wanted to make sure we were ready for all of that. I am just freaking out now. I know at 31 weeks there isn't anything I can do to change things and deep down I do think I am still ready and excited but, right now, I can't see any of that. Any tips on how to calm down?

  • What do you do when you receive an expensive gift but you already have something similar?

I am pregnant so my sister and her boyfriend bought as a joint gift for my husband and my birthday's/anniversary a new video camera and a bunch of accessories. It is an increadably thoughtful gift and we were so touched by it however we just purchased a video camera for ourselves this past Christmas and the one we got was slightly better so we don't want to return it. They are both sony handycams but the one we got ourselves is HD and black while the one they bought isn't hd and it's silver. They included a gift receipt with it. Do we tell them what a great gift this was but that we already have one or should we just return it and hope they don't notice that the camera we have isn't exactly the same as the one they gave us? I don't want to hurt any feelings because this was truly a wonderful thoughtful gift we just don't need two cameras... Any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated!

  • How can I help my cat be less clingy?

My cat is a real sweetheart but recently she has become extremely clingy. Two things happened around the same time that she started to act this way. First her brother died :-( they were literally from the same litter born and raised together. Then I became pregnant :-). I am worried that all these big changes have really upset her. My husband and i were thinking that maybe getting her a new cat might make her a little less lonely... Any ideas?

  • How do I politely get an overnight guest to leave?

My husband bowls on a league every friday night with a friend of his. The leage doesn't get out until a little after 11 and his friend lives about 45 min away so he stays over every friday. It wouldn't be so bad if he would pick up after himself or at least leave on saturday. He was still sleeping on my couch at 12:30. When he finally got up he asked if we wanted to do something and my husband told him that we wanted to spend the day just the two of us. Well it's almost 2 pm and he still hasn't even started to get ready to leave. I am sick of having to leave my own house to get alone time with my husband. Help please!

  • How far along were you before you told people you were pregnant?

I took a pregnancy test on Monday and it came back positive! I am going to the Dr. today to make sure everything is ok. My husband wants to start telling people right away but I am not sure. I have heard that people sometimes miscarry naturally in the first trimester and I don't think I could handle going back and telling all these people if God forbid I had a miscarriage. Am I being silly? I really want to tell too I am just scared.

PS this is my first pregnancy

  • How should i word this "gift certificate"?

For Christmas I am going to take my husband into the city to Soho. Ultimately I will be taking him to get a hat from this store called "the hat house" but we will probably spend the entire day there exploring and most likely have lunch and possibly dinner too. Any good ideas on how to word this? Also we've never been to Soho before is there any must see things? Stores, restaurants or anything really.
