  • What was the application that a guest talked about on coast to coast am?

About two years ago, give or take, a guest talked about an application he, or some group, had developed. He said the people who downloaded it believed that it was a game, they would walk around, in their daily life, and find these.....particles? I don't really remember. However, he said that it was not really a game, instead the gamers are really finding these....particle? This app was, supposedly, developed to find the "particles" and map them out.

Can anyone remember that particular show?

And most importantly, what was this app?

  • Does homeowners insurance cover foundation problems?

Our house was flooded in 1996, we bought it in 2008. The flood damage is getting more obvious by the day. To sell the house they cheaply covered up everything that was wrong and now is all falling apart, the kitchen floor rotted through, the living room floor is like a hill some of the walls are not quite 90 degrees...the list can go on forever. But my question is...my foundation looks like it is slowly moving and some cracks are so big you can put you're finger in there, if I would get somebody to look at it and if they determin that it is dangerous would my homeowners insurance cover it? Now one important thing is that we live in a flood zone and have a flood insurance as well and because it is s flood zone our house is build accordingly, which means that around the house along the walls is the cement foundation but under the house are cement blocks which have two by fours standing on them holding the actual house.

  • what are the workplace parking laws in CA?

I work at a store, in a very bad neighborhood and have to be at work sometimes as early as 5:30am. The store manager (and also the CEO of the company) is asking us to park in the very back of the parking lot, so that way the customers can park conveniently right next to the store and don't have to walk far. I am still parking close to the store, as I mentioned the neighborhood is bad and many of my co-workers got their stereo and in a few cases car stolen. I am afraid to get my vehicle stolen, since I won't be able to afford to buy a new one. Recently my co-worker (who parked next to me) got a note put under the windshield wiper, saying that if she continues to park in that spot, she will be charges a fee of $250 per week and to avoid that she needs to park in the back of the parking lot. The not was handwritten and it was translated into Spanish, so somebody knew that she speaks Spanish and that she works there. There was no name on the note or otherwise information.

I did not get a note (yet) but I am afraid I will and I am not willing to park in the back. First of all we only have four employee cars parked in the morning in this parking lot, so I don't think we inconvenience that many customers, second of all half of the parking lot is empty pretty much 95% of the time and third of all when I come to work at 5:30am, most of the time the manager is not there (running late like always) and I have to be in the parking lot all by my self, sometimes the lights go out and it is really dark. A few times I had an incident that a man, who looked to be homeless was coming my way, I drove off but it was a scary situation. There is no security guard or otherwise protection for us, I am afraid to walk from the very back of the parking lot by myself, in the dark and I am afraid my vehicle will be stolen, just because our store wants to make it as convenient as possible for the customers. Can somebody help me out on the California laws when it come to a situation like this. Thank you in advance!

  • Reasonable health insurance in CA??

My step-daughter, husband and I are currently insured trough Blue Shield of California. The Deductible is $7.500 annually and we are paying $520 a month. Whenever we are going to get my husbands prescription drugs, we have to pay 100% out of pocket, whenever my husband has to go to a doctor we have to pay %100, whatever we do, we have to pay 100% ourselves, when does the insurance come in??? Every year, we have to pay $7.500 out of pocket till we can expect the insurance to even consider covering anything, who has that much money to spend every year on health insurance?!

Recently my husband started having kidney pain, hernia, heart problems... but we can't go to a doctor because after paying the $520 a month to the health insurance we are simply left with nothing. I have not been to a doctor for 8 years, now I am very frustrated, I really need to take care of my husbands health but every insurance is just a ripoff. Can anybody help me with some advice...or a good insurance with low deductible or none at all (if that even exists).

  • Is it legal in CA for a vet to turn you in, to animal control?

I live in California and recently took my puppy to a vet. It was a mobile vet, that goes from place to place and gives shots to animals below, what average vets charge. Now with the regular Dr. there is the Doctor-Patient confidentiality and I recently read that there is something similar when, it comes to a vet. To make a long story short, the vet I went to turned me in to animal control, he gave them my phone number, my address, the WHOLE information about me and my dog. I had to spend a ton of money after that on fixing my dog and getting it licensed and even a late fee, that they made up. I was wondering if that is legal in California?

I do have a fenced in front and backyard, the fence is 5'-7' and my dog is an inside dog that never leaves my side, she would have never been breed so it was completely unnecessary for me to get her spayed, she was in a lot of pain and scared of everybody after that, it took her MONTHS to recover. So I am pretty angry about the whole thing. I do live from paycheck to paycheck but if something would happen to my dog I would spend my last panny to get her medical treatment even if I would end up in debt, but I think this whole nonsense should not have happened.

  • Would a home owners insurance cover if the same tree fell and did damage for the SECOND time?

I have a very big tree in the backyard, it grew as three trunk's instead of one. Recently one fell on our garage and totaled it, the insurance paid us to rebuild it. Now there are those two large tree trunk's that look like they are going to fall any minute. This tree is sitting 1/4 on the neighbors property and it is bordering two other properties, now it looks like it is going to fall on the other properties and destroy two fences and neighbors garage. I know the first time it was considered an "act of god" but now we can see that it can/will fall and it did so before. Will we be liable if it does fall? and since we can not afford paying to cut it down, would our insurance be willing to help us pay to remove it? Is there anything at all that we could do to get help cover the cost of removing that tree before it does a lot of damage? It looks like it is going to fall very soon and I am afraid of what is going to happen then...

  • No stud service contract, what now?

We didn't make a stud service contract and our female had only two puppies. Because it was only two they developed to be pretty big and the male got stuck, the dog had to get a c-section. As a result we have one large female puppy. Now the person who offered us the stud service wanted a female puppy from this breeding. But now we are stuck with a $1300 bill and a puppy that we have to feed with formula because the ***** didn't take to the puppy. What are usually the rules in this kind of circumstances. We never thought that a breeding could go so horribly wrong. We paid for the c-section and now have to pay for the formula and besides me and my husband both work and can't raise the puppy. For now we can't get hold of the stud service person and don't know his view on the whole thing, but it seems to me terribly unfair if we get stuck with massive bill and he gets the puppy while not having to invest a penny.

  • Contractor is paying 30% in TAXES to rebuild a $13.000 garage?

In February a tree fell on our garage and totaled it. We received $13.000 from our insurance and now it is being rebuild. The contractor says he will have to pay taxes on the $13.000 and that it is 30% of the amount. It sounds to me like a lot. I live in California. Does anyone knows about this?
