How do I tell if bad DLP projector image is due to color wheel or bulb?
I have a ViewSonic PJ551D projector with DLP image. It's a few years old and the color started to fade...almost down to just black and white with overtones of red. Despite having high definition capabilities (and looking great in the past), the image is no longer crisp.
I replaced the original bulb with a new one directly from the manufacturer, but it made no difference in the image (and the projector still gives me an error message to replace the bulb). I am curious if the issue is really the color wheel instead. Is there a fool-proof way to tell? I have noticed no other changes (same power up/down times, noise levels, etc).
Please keep in mind that this image was the same, poor quality no matter the input (TV = component to VGA or laptop = VGA to VGA), so it's not the source or the cables. I no longer have TV, so my only input is to go through the laptop.
Thank you!
1 AnswerHome Theater9 years agoviewsonic PJ551D projector suggested lamp (bulb) replacement. Put in brand new bulb, getting same error msg?!?
I've been getting the "you should replace the bulb now" warning for almost a year now, but there has been no degradation in the quality. Still, I put in a brand new bulb, and after turning it on twice, I get the same warning every time. Anyone have any experience with this? Could anything else be causing this warning? Again, it's worked great all along except for the warning.
1 AnswerHome Theater10 years agoWhat is the best WiFi antenna to use to increase my wireless range?
My ISP is Comcast at 12mbps. My router is a Linksys WRT54G (54mbps). My range, however, is not very far. I'd just like to be able to work outside, deep in my yard (about a 50 yard distance). What is the best long range WiFi network adapter for this purpose? (Within a reasonable price...around $25).
Also, it would seem to me that the router sending the wireless signal would be more important that the card or antenna receiving it. Any explanation here would be helpful too. Thank you!
1 AnswerComputer Networking1 decade agoWhich route to take from San Diego airport to La Mesa during evening rush hour?
I can either take CA-163 to I-8 or take CA-94 pretty much all the way from the airport over to La Mesa. This would be around 6pm. Any recommendations?
5 AnswersSan Diego1 decade agoWill a Colorado speeding ticket affect my Pennsylvania license?
According to http://www.speedingticketcentral.com/speeding-tick...
"Pennsylvania, New York, and Colorado will not post out of state speeding tickets to your record."
But I'd rather have some proof, such as a state statute. I'd rather pay it than chance it if there is no straight answer.
Thanks!
4 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoHow to HDMI out from laptop to component on receiver to VGA projector?
I am trying to watch video with my Gateway T-6859U HDMI output into the HDMI input (1) on my Onkyo HT-S894 receiver. I say (1) because there are two HDMI inputs on the receiver, and I have it in slot 1, and have then assigned HDMI slot 1 to Video 2 on my receiver settings. So I think the settings on the receiver are correct. I also make sure to hit Function F4 so the laptop knows to send a signal (I presume to both VGA and HDMI outputs).
The receiver then is component out to VGA input on an HD projector (up to 1080i). I know that HDMI is digital while component is analog, but surely there is a way for them to talk to each other through the receiver (which I thought was supposed to handle these conversions).
I was doing VGA to VGA to play laptop to projector, but I can't get to the back of the projector easily anymore. Please help!
1 AnswerHome Theater1 decade agoHow do I stop my wireless card from jumping to other networks?
I have my own security-enabled network, however, my card sometimes jumps onto a less, powerful unsecured network. Why, and how do I stop it?
I recently had to re-install Windows and had some issues setting up my router, but it does connect to my network so I don't know why it wants to jump. Any suggestions?
1 AnswerComputer Networking1 decade agoHow do I convert coaxial to VGA, S-video, or composite video?
I am thinking about getting a hi def antenna but they all seem to only use coaxial outputs. Yet I use a projector as my TV, and the projector only has inputs for VGA, S-video, and composite video. Is there a cable to convert these signals that won't greatly downgrade the quality?
Also, how would I keep the sound signal since those are just video inputs?

3 AnswersTVs1 decade agoWhat is the maximum amount I can sue my mortgage company for after they tried to collect a discharged debt?
I recently brought my mortgage account current through a Chapter 13 bankruptcy plan. They did not oppose the order granting the discharge and deeming my account current (apparently they didn't receive the notices). Yet my statements showed that I was still about behind by a small amount so I sued them. How will the court calculate the damages? Is it just a standard penalty or does the amount in question (a little over $100) make a difference? Does it matter that I didn't bother to call or write asking them to fix it before I sued them, or that as soon as they saw the lawsuit that they did fix it?
3 AnswersPersonal Finance1 decade agoDesktop computer has difficulty powering up, including peripherals issues.?
I moved a few months ago and did not hook up my desktop computer until a month later. Immediately, I started noticing power issues.
Sometimes I need to press the power button a few times just to get it to boot up (sometimes it powers back down within a second or two).
Once it powers up, sometimes it freezes on my wireless keyboard and mouse (the lights on the wireless adapter will either be blank or all stay lit). I have to start up a few times until I hear the beep, at which time it usually powers up the keyboard and mouse okay.
The biggest issue now is that the BIOS image only flashes for a moment before the screen goes blank again. If I turn off the monitor and back on, I can usually see the desktop screen for a second before it goes black again. Strangely, the monitor's green light always stays on.
I previously took the tower apart and made sure everything was connected tightly. I'm thinking this must be an issue with the power supply, but the fan seems to work fine. I'm leaning toward buying a new power supply but wanted your expert answers first!
4 AnswersDesktops1 decade agoWhat is the best book with which to learn legal research and writing?
I know there are a ton of books out there, but I'm not sure how to choose one. I have a few years experience in litigation case management for a mortgage company but no formal legal education (no paralegal or law courses). I may be seeking a job as a litigation paralegal or clerk, so please keep that in mind with your suggestions. Thanks!

Not the national anthem. I'm asking about the one the fans chat after a goal is scored. It sounds like an old punk anthem, so is it just carried over from European football (US soccer)?

4 AnswersOther - Hardware1 decade agoHow did Bush encourage the mortgage companies to develop exotic loan products for the subprime market?
Remember when Bush spoke of his "ownership society"? Did Bush give any incentives for those brokers and mortgage companies to create those exotic loan products, so many of which are now in default? Do you think that increased regulation could have mitigated this disaster?
7 AnswersRenting & Real Estate1 decade agoIs it possible to find cell phone insurance well after the activation date?
The inside LCD screen of my Motorola E815 has gone all white. I have turned the phone off and on, plugged it in, removed the battery pack, etc. Any other options?
It appears that you can only enroll in Verizon's equipment protection plan within 15 day of activation. I am well past that. Is there any type of insurance I can buy to replace the phone, or am I stuck with having to buy a new one?
2 AnswersCell Phones & Plans1 decade agoIs there a way to artificially increase your feedback rating on eBay?
I'm looking to buy some high-end fashion clothes from a fairly new seller based in Thailand. I'm a little worried that not only are the clothes counterfeit due to their cheap price but that I may never even get them. The seller has about 150 positive feedback (perfect 100%) but I wonder if there is a way that they can manipulate that.
