  • Cat looks sad?

I have an 8 month old cat. I've had him since 9 weeks. He's chipped and snipped already.

He's normally a very energetic, very outgoing cat.

However for the last two days, he seems sad. He still has a good appetite but he just doesn't seem right. He's seems spooked about something, very jumpy, very sleep and he's started scratching again which he hasn't don't for a good few months.

Also, he's started to want to sleep with me in my bed which is odd as from day one we've taught him to sleep in his own cat bed.

He's had all vaccinations, defleaing and deworming, so what could be the problem?

  • Short sighted, but need glasses for computer use?

About 6 months ago, I was told by my optician that I was short sighted (can't see distance well). My prescription was -0.25 in both eyes, which isn't a lot.

Lately however, I have been finding it difficult to focus on computer/TV screens, and working in a hospital with monitors around me all day, it's getting increasingly worse. My eyes feel constantly dry, and blurry, and I've now started wearing my glasses all day (I know this is bad), just to ease the symptoms.

Is there any specific glasses for computer use for short sighted people?

  • Low immunity to Hep B?

I had my Hep B vaccinations a while ago, and after my third one, I went for a blood test to check the coverage. However, the blood test came back that I had low immunity, and that I needed a booster.

What does it mean? Why do I have low immunity?

  • Any recommendations for nurses shoes?

I'm a nursing student going into my second year, and I need new shoes to wear during my placements.

    I bought these ones: http://www.barratts.co.uk/en/rocket-dog-elastic-cr...

first of all, but by the time my first year was over, they were ruined, not to mention not being at all comfortable during long shifts.

I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for comfortable shoes. They don't have to be nurses shoes, but they need to be suitable for wearing them for long periods of time.

Also, I would prefer that they look nice, because the shoes I've seen look like something my nan would wear! They need to be black, and easy to clean.

    Thanks

  • Nursing Skills after graduation?

I am currently a nursing student in my first year, and I was wondering if there are any skills that I will need to gain AFTER completing my degree.

I'm sure that I won't learn how to tale blood until after I finish, but is there anything else that I need extra training on?

Where would I find this extra training?

    Thank you

  • Why do my joints hurt?

I am a nursing student currently on placement. Ever since I started, I've been getting a lot of joint pain that doesn't seem to go away when I take pain killers like paracetamol or ibuprofen.

The pain is like when you sprain your ankle or something. I get it in both my wrists, my thumbs, the middle finger on left hand, the first joints under my nails in all my fingers, the top of my right foot, where my toes join to my foot, and my ankles.

What could this be?? There is a history of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis in my family, and I'm worried I might be developing it. I'm only 19 :(

  • How many calories should I eat a day?

I am 5"1' and 9 stone 6 at the moment. I would like to go down to possible 8 and a half stone (I think that's healthy for my height, correct me if I'm wrong).

However, I don't know how many calories I should be eating a day. I read somewhere that 1200 is okay for me.

How much should I be eating?

I don't do a lot of exercise, apart from a little bit of walking a day, at a slow pace. I don't have time to go to the gym, as I am a full time nursing student, and am currently working 12 hour shifts as part of my course.

    Any ideas??

  • Why does blood pressure change when you stand up too quickly?

Is it supposed to increase or decrease, and why?

How does the autonomic nervous system influence it?

What happens if your blood pressure doesn't change when you stand to quickly?

  • How do you write a CV if you have never had a job?

I've never had a job before (that I was actually employed. I don't count working with my mum and dad), and I've just started university, and I was wondering, how do you put that in a CV?

I've tried writing one using a template, but it just looks wrong as their is no previous job experience.

    Any advice?

  • What bacteria has grown on my agar plate?

As part of my A level science course, I am required to come up with a hypothesis, and test it with a series of experiments.

I have come up with my experiment, which looks at the best way to clean a kitchen cloth (wash in a washing machine, bleach or microwave), and I am getting bacteria growing on my agar plates, but I don' know what the bacteria is.

Is there any way that I could find out what type of bacteria has grown?
