  • Are we perfect?

In my research, I have found a philosophy that maintains everything is perfect the way it presently exists. My first response to hearing about this concept was to think something like "Yeah! Right! Nothing's perfect, right?" However, the more I tried to poke holes in this philosophy, the more I couldn't. I believe in God, love Jesus, and I also think that we have free will, so that makes us responsible for the choices we make in life. Nothing complicated about that, right? I've studied Eastern thought enough to be familiar some of their ideas, and there's nothing in any of this that would be out of agreement with the teachings of Jesus, Buddha and other spiritual icons. So, are any of you familiar with this philosophy? What do you think of these concepts?

  • Could we put our differences aside and agree on an agenda to make the world a better place for us all?

We live ina time when the entire globe is in communication. Whether you believe in God or not, isn't this a pretty cool evolvement of technology? It seems to me that it is within the capacity of human beings to make the world a kinder and gentler place, a better world for everybody. At the very least, I'm going to procede with that assumption. I've studied utopian thought and some things like that...I think it's pretty cool stuff...and, most of us think that there's great power in ideas. Ideas have a way of getting manifested out in the real world.

So, if we were to come up with that kind of agenda, what would our agenda be?

  • Why do we have consciousness? And, why do we want to have higher consciousness?

This is a subject about which I'm extremely curious and think about a lot. Dig it, we all have consciousness. If that was not true, we wouldn't be sitting at our keyboards right now discussing the great mysteries of life. There's also this thing called higher consciousness, and some people seek to attain it, and, apparently, some people do. Or, is the whole thing about enlightenment just another sham? From what I can tell, higher consciousness/awareness is a very real thing. I've known some very "high" people...both users and non-users of drugs...and I've at least visited some of those places. I suspect that much of what drug use is about is the search for that high place that will give us a greater understanding of our very own lives. Some people think I tend to ramble on. Where could they possibly get that idea? OK, all you believers and non-believers out there, have at it....

  • Believers and non-believers, what can we agree on?

It's funny, but I had absolutely no intention of getting involved with this forum, and now I find that I am hooked and I like it! This is a global, free, very democratic, anonymous form of entertainment, and I don't know of another place where so many people are talking about these matters about God, Jesus, spirituality, etc. What we've got here is a collection of our consciousnesses, and we all get to say what we're really thinking without any fear of punishment! Is that cool or what? I also think that information and ideas have power, and I think that we should consider the possibility that what we're doing in these back-and-forths might have some meaning. Or, is this all just an accident that happened because of evolution? Hey, it would take more of my faith to believe that than it takes to believe in God. Anyway, I'm just pointing these things out, and I can't say that know what to do from here.

    OK, folks, have at it!

  • Are we born with a biological/genetic imperative. If you think so, what is the imperative?

Whether you are a believer or not, it seems to me that we should consider this question. If you are a believer, it's pretty easy to come up with a reason or purpose for our being here...and whether we're right or wrong remains to be seen. However, if we are merely the products of evolution, and all that exists can be explained by science, logic and rational thought, is our being here just a random and purposeless accident of nature, or, does evolution work in such a way that we inclinded, not compelled, to make certain choices that will enhance the chances that our species will survive and prosper?

  • Would it be possible to use this forum for some of us to write a book? If so, would you be interested?

Many of us, believers and non-believers alike, have been attracted to this forum. By me, this is a fun, free, democratic, anonymous, global form of entertainment, and I enjoy the discussions about the great mysteries of our lives. I'm a writer and keep an eye on what books are big-time sellers, and what is often unsaid because there are markets for fresh insights about spirituality, enlightenment, religion, etc.

Anyway, it has occurred to me that we...anybody who wants to play...could write a book about the things that we discuss. The book could have a title like "What We've Found So Far About God, Love, Enlightenment and Other Important Matters." The book would have different topics, and we could make the contributions to it we wanted. I'm sure there's a lawyer among us who could help work out the details, and, we'd want the Yahoo people to feel good about this endeavor. If the book made money, it could all go to charity. Does this idea interest any of you?

  • Have we considered the possibility that this forum was created by God for believers and non-believers?

I mean let's consider the possibilities. We are a bunch of consciousness minds who are communicating on a global network about the great issues of our lives. Now I know that there's a scientific way to explain this, that with our large brains we have reached a point in our evolution where we can do stuff like this. But why would be so interested in issues of this nature? Anyway, if it was God's goal to create a new form of entertainment, then thank you God! And if this thing is just all an accident, it's pretty cool anyway!

  • Why is it that I don't hear atheists talking about the importance of love?

Atheists talk about how God doesn't exist, and how everything can be explained by science, logic and rational thought. I'm more than willing to believe that atheists are just like everybody else, except that they don't believe in God. What I don't see them talking about is, assuming they are right about God, how we should live our lives. What is our motivation for doing the things we do? Whether you believe in God or not, is it important to be honorable and to put love into the world? Many of us have found that our spiritual journeys are extremely important and worthwhile parts of our lives, and we have found it is very important to be grateful for the goodness of our lives. So, if God doesn't exist, how do atheists decide how they're going to live their lives? And, where does love fit into all of this?
