Are we perfect?
In my research, I have found a philosophy that maintains everything is perfect the way it presently exists. My first response to hearing about this concept was to think something like "Yeah! Right! Nothing's perfect, right?" However, the more I tried to poke holes in this philosophy, the more I couldn't. I believe in God, love Jesus, and I also think that we have free will, so that makes us responsible for the choices we make in life. Nothing complicated about that, right? I've studied Eastern thought enough to be familiar some of their ideas, and there's nothing in any of this that would be out of agreement with the teachings of Jesus, Buddha and other spiritual icons. So, are any of you familiar with this philosophy? What do you think of these concepts?

funny thing, i just was thinking about this or something similar to this. we were created in the image of god. we were made perfect its just we are impure, as we fight the good fight against evil/sin we become more christ-like or another words, more like the image of god.

if you think philosophy maintains that everything is perfect the way it is, then you have misinterpreted the key concepts. There is no such thing as universal perfection. Perfection is a man made concept and is extremely subjective. You may experience a certain kind of reality and your next door neighbour may be experiencing a very different kind of reality. It is all our individual realities that create the big picture. By reality I mean perception, reasoning and interpretation.

No, not familiar with it. If we are perfect the way we exist, then racism is perfect.
But racism is not perfect.
Some people are racist.
Some (atleast) of humanity is not perfect.
If some are not perfect, then humanity is not perfect.
I have an easier way of disproving this philosophy:

perfection is an idea and it doesn't quite match up with a universe that is different in every new version of the moment, unless perfection also means never the same.

Yes we are. Jesus tells us we were made perfect by his blood. Not just perfect, but perfect like our Father in heaven.
Perfection thru God's eyes is not like thru man's eyes. God sees our best effort (when we're trying and if we failed, ask forgiveness, and keep trying). Man look at our worst fault and remind us of them.
My Perfection is thru Jesus. When I sin, God look at what Jesus did, not what I did. This is not to say that sin doesn't have it consequences. But that's another subject.

Hmmmm.
I only think the world is perfect with the opinion that flaws make things beautiful.
I guess the question is what 'perfect' really is.

"Perfect" is an idea invented by humans, and it is defined in part by the contrast between the ideal and the actual. To say the world is perfect is a perversion of this artificial concept.

I don't care that Biohazard's answer was just as sexist, it did make the joke funnier.
