Laptop Power / Battery Issues?
My laptop (Dell C-840 running Win XP) is currently running on AC power, however, the computer itself says that it is running on battery power - I've got the little icon in the desktop tray and the control panel/power options agrees with it. Although what the computer is telling me is wrong, I could live with it if it were just that. However, if I so much as move the laptop or adjust the screen the whole system shuts off due to lack of power - despite being plugged into a source which is working (the cable is in perfect condition, I've tested it on my sister's laptop and it's definitely not the cable).
Any ideas what could be wrong, is it just a battery issue? Could I fix it? Or should I prepare myself for the likelihood that this is the beginning of the journey to the big hard drive in the sky?

What would be better for an evil genius just starting out: sharks with frickin' laser beams attached to their frickin' heads, the more traditional winged monkeys or is there something new on the market?
I'm currently living in a two-bed hollowed-out volcano lair with no garden, would these living arrangements have any influence on the best creature for my needs? Also my second in command is allergic to cat fur, so I'm needing something that won't bring him out in a rash.
