  • Best fishing pole for little kids?

Does anyone have a good recommendation for fishing poles for kids age 4, 5, and 7? They, of course, want Disney labeled ones, but they don't get the best reviews for actual fishing (just for kid excitement). My kids want to catch fish! Obviously I'm looking for something not TOO long.

  • Is it too early to know if it's a miscarriage?

I had an hcg level drawn at 13dpo and had a normal level of 40. Two days later it dropped to 31.6, and the nurse told me to expect to miscarry. In between time, I did notice that my pg symptoms seemed to lessen so I wasn't surprised. I figured with a number so low, the miscarriage would start any time. Now, two days later still no bleeding or cramps and the pg symptoms are actually coming back. BBT is rising too. I'm supposed to go back Monday for another hcg, is it possible it will be back up and I won't miscarry? I've not had one before, I have 3 kids.

  • occupational therapy site where I can get kindergarten-age chewing objects?

My 5-yr-old son chews his clothing and blankets. He's high-functioning autistic (aspergers) and a public school occupational therapist told me there are websites where I can purchase appropriate objects for him to chew on at home. he mostly does this while awake in bed or watching TV. Does anyone know of a few of these sites??

  • light period, high temperature, pregnancy?

I take natural progesterone shots each month to simulate a cycle b/c I have PCOS. Every other month I actually ovulate (b/c one ovary works and the other doesn't). This month was supposed to be an ovulation month, but I got my period early, like I do in non-ovulation months. I thought nothing of it, until I realized my period was light and then quickly ended (It was 'moderate' for one day, then light one day, then gone today). Also, my BB temperature is up like when I am on progesterone instead of back down to 'normal'. I took a pregnancy test but it is negative today. What can anyone make of this?

  • Can someone tell me what Ted Kennedy did that was so great?

With all the news coverage, you'd think a president had died. Didn't this guy have his girlfriend killed? You'd never see this much coverage if a republican senator died. People think it's a big deal because the media tells them it is.

  • what should blood sugar levels be?

I'm wondering if the diabetics out there can tell me what blood sugars to aim for : fasting, 1 hr after eating, 2 hrs after eating. Also, are you supposed to take it 2 hours after you BEGAN eating or after you are DONE eating?

I'm asking b/c I began a new medication that might affect blood sugars, and I have insulin resistance. The doc wants me to monitor my sugars but I know the numbers to aim for are different than for gestational diabetes (the last time I used the meter).

  • Your experience with Seroquel for bipolar mania?

I'm currently on Geodon but it has quit working because I am dieting and it needs a lot of food to be absorbed. I go to the doc Wed and I was thinking of asking for Seroquel instead. I'd like to hear from others who have taken it. I am NOT looking for someone to give me a cut-and-paste from the seroqel site about the drug.

  • Actos for insulin resistance?

I have insulin resistance but no issues with high blood sugar. I'm currently dieting (35 down and 40 to go) and on Metformin XR which is helping a ton, but I'm having an awful reaction of diarrhea. I'm thinking of asking the doc to be switched to Actos. Has anyone taken this and liked it? Anyone withOUT weight gain or swelling?

  • My Geodon isn't working well, is it because I'm on a diet?

I've been taking Geodon for over 6 months and all was going well. (Although it did take a couple months for the sleepiness to go away). 6 weeks ago I began a healthy diet and my meds aren't working as well. My doc and I have upped the dose but still no-go. She said the other day I need to take it with 500 calories of food - I'm not sure this is happening every day when I take it in the evening. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

  • What does the Catholic church teach about illness?

I used to spout that "God has a plan" and "things happen for a reason" until I lost my parents to a drunk driver. I decided that in reality, God has much less control in our lives than we wish He did. After all, my parents are gone because of the drunk's free will (which God cannot mess with) rather than any "plan" or "reason".

But what about losing someone to grave illness? Surely childhood cancers do not have "free will". It is hurtful to tell the family their child's death is part of a "plan" or "reason". After all, what kind of God would purposefully give an innocent child cancer?

So what does the Church teach about God's roll in grave illness?
