Is it Horsepasture, or Horse Pasture, Virginia?
I am doing my family's genealogy, and some of our ancestors lived in a town in Henry County, Virginia called either Horsepasture (1 word) or Horse Pasture (2 words). Different records show one or the other. Even an internet search is confusing in the same way. Could someone who knows PLEASE tell me which is correct? Or does it matter? Are both acceptable?
2 AnswersGenealogy12 months agoWhy can’t I eat ice cream or drink milkshakes?
Please don’t say, “You’re lactose intolerant”! Don’t even go there. I can drink milk, eat cheese, butter and yogurt. I just can’t consume ice cream or milkshakes without gastric problems, like pain and diarrhea. Can anyone please answer that question? Google searches aren’t addressing the issue.
7 AnswersOther - Food & Drink2 years agoDream of the death of a non-existent sister?
Last night I dreamed of the death of a sister that doesn't exist. My real younger sister and older brother were in the dream, as well as my deceased mother (she died in 1989). My deceased father was not in the dream. We were in the living room of our house, a house which in real life is unfamiliar to me. At first the non-existent sister was missing and we were fearing the worst. Then we got the news she had been found dead. I was grieving so much for her, and my family was also sad.
I have never had a dream before of a family member that doesn't exist. What can it mean?
1 AnswerDream Interpretation5 years agoI have never had a problems with my car's stereo system before today, but suddenly today,?
No sound coming from the radio, or my satellite radio, although both seem to be working, just no sound, no hiss or pops, nothing. Speakers work fine when CD is playing. I have a 2006 Nissan Altima SE. I know nothing about this, so could someone help?
1 AnswerCar Audio6 years agoWhat are the lyrics to "Settle Down" from the Movie Red River?
The song in the opening sequence of the movie was, I believe, written by Dmitri Tiomkin, as was the score to the movie as well. The lyrics were sung by a Russian men's chorus, singing the words phonetically. Many of the phrases are rather muddy sounding, making it nearly impossible to understand the words. I have searched the internet, to no avail, trying to find the lyrics, and I am beginning to think such a thing does not exist! I have the words to the intro:
You doggies have traveled all day
How come you keep strayin' away?
Then PART of the body of the song:
Settle down, little doggies
This is home for tonight
Settle down, little doggies
We'll be travelin' soon as it's light
THEN it gets murky with the second part of the body of the song. "little doggies" is all I can pick out from the lines, and the last line is:
So tonight you'd better settle down
Can ANYONE provide these lyrics?? I would appreciate it if you can!
3 AnswersLyrics8 years agoIf I am receiving Social Security retirement benefits, and later am approved for SS disability...?
I am disabled, and 62 years old and have applied for SS retirement AND SS disability. I will be receiving my first retirement check this month. If I am approved for SS disability, and later begin working at a home-based job that earns me more money than disability, I know I would probably lose the disability. The type of job I am looking at requires schooling (I could take online classes for this one) in order to work at it, and I would have to work at a hospital for a certain period before I could convert to home-based. If I work away from the home for a few months, would I permanently lose SS retirement if I was deemed no longer disabled? Or would I get retirement again?
6 AnswersPersonal Finance8 years agoWhy is brussels sprouts on lists of foods to eat to thin blood AND to help with clotting the blood?
I have been checking online for a more natural way to thin my blood than taking coumadin, such as foods. I have seen lists of foods that thin the blood and lists of foods that help the blood clot, and brussels sprouts is on BOTH lists. How can that be? I can't seem to find the answer to that question online, so I am turning to Yahoo Answers, hoping that someone can clear this up.
Diet & Fitness8 years agoDo I still have to deduct taxes each month during the year from a pension or annuity if...?
the amount I receive each year will be less than my personal exemption and standard deduction combined ($10,000)? I mean, I would just get every penny of it back come tax time, so do I have to pay taxes on it all year, or can I just declare the entire tax-exempt amount come tax time?
4 AnswersUnited States8 years agoDoes Social Security retirement convert to disability?
I am 62 years old and disabled, and unable to work, and receiving short-term disability at present. If I apply for retirement and disability at the same time, I will probably get retirement before I get disability. But if I am awarded disability later (which is more than my retirement), will my benefit convert to disability?

3 AnswersLaw & Legal10 years agoWhy would my car audio system lose volume when I turn a corner or brake quickly?
I traded in an older car for a 2008 Nissan Altima a few weeks ago. I first started noticing that CDs were losing volume at times, and then I started noticing my satellite radio was doing the same thing. After a while, I was able to pinpoint when it was happening and what the car was doing when it happened. When I make U-turns, left or right turns at intersections, and possibly when I brake at stop lights or stop signs, the audio volume just goes down on its own! That's never happened in any other car I've owned. I don't know if it is typical of Nissans in general, Nissan Altimas in general, or if it is a characteristic of the stereo system that is installed in it (don't know what kind). There are stereo controls on the steering wheel, and I noticed that I am not accidentally touching these controls when I make sharp or 90 degree turns. Could this be typical of car stereos with steering wheel controls?
4 AnswersCar Audio10 years agoCan someone tell me what I can do, and who I could talk to, about this unusual foreclosure situation?
My brother and I both have our names on the deed to the house my brother lives in. But only his name is on the mortgage. He is the only one who lives in the house. He had a stroke a little over a year ago, and has not been able to work since. He was paying the mortgage payments, but cannot make the payments now. I cannot make the payments either because I have my own mortgage. Recently he was sent a notice of the foreclose and sale of the property. A real estate lawyer I spoke to said he believes I could give my brother permission to live in my "half" of the house without being evicted, because it would be difficult to foreclose on half a house since my name is on the deed also, but not on the mortgage! He thought possibly I wouldn't have to make the mortgage payments, but this sounds too good to be true. I mean, I assume SOMEBODY has to pay. My brother's SSI checks (he didn't qualify for regular benefits) are the maximum a single person can get: $674.00 a month, which doesn't go very far.
I hope someone can shed some light on this very unusual situation.
4 AnswersRenting & Real Estate1 decade agoI always liked the song "Sail on Sailor" by the Beach Boys, but I can't guess the singer. Can anyone help?
The song as originally released doesn't sound like any of the band members(i.e. Brian, Carl or Dennis Wilson, Mike Love or Al Jardine). Unless it's Bruce Johnston, but I don't have anything that he sang to compare it to.

4 AnswersOther - Yahoo Mail1 decade agoI have an antique mantle clock with a loose hour hand which sometimes unexpectedly drops. How can I fix this?
The hour hand usually drops at about the 2 or 3 o'clock position. It's usually o.k. until I try to wind the clock. Then the little vibrations, or whatever, will cause the hand to drop, sometimes all the way down to the 6! If anyone has any knowledge of this sort of thing, I certainly would appreciate some pointers.
7 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoThe Story of English (PBS--1986) is out on VHS. Does ANYONE know if it is available(& where) on DVD?
It is a 9-part mini series documentary, and a companion book was published, which I have. I recorded the series on my VCR at the time it was first shown in 1986. I would LOVE to find it in DVD format. Any help would be appreciated.
