  • I need a good quality inner tube to take on the river?

I want to go out on the river in 2 weeks but I can't find anything sturdy. I've tried the river rat and sevylor products but they are thin and flimsy. What do they usually use at water parks? I want something thick and sturdy that won't pop a seam easily.

  • Is there any way to easily remove the old "seasoning" on a cast iron skillet?

I need to redo it because some of the pre-seasoning was still on the skillet so my seasoning began to peel off but not all of it did. I want to start over from scratch but the seasoning is sticky and so sandpaper is worthless. Does anyone know of an easy way to get it off so I can start over?

  • Where can I get really good chocolate for candy making and what brand is best?

I have recently gotten into candy making and decorating but I am having trouble finding a good supply for good chocolate. I don't like the taste of Nestle, Ghirardelli, Hershey or Wilton. They all have a very distinct waxy funky flavor. I would love to be able to work with good Belgian or Swiss chocolate. What brands have the best flavor and where can I get it?

If the divorce took place in the US but The holder of the H1 VISA is not able to report it due to family issues, would this person get caught? Is there another way to keep them from entering the country? How long could they live in the US before being found out? I know it's weird trust me I know. Unfortunately, someone is in a bad place and just wants to know if his ex can be deported without him intervening.

  • Can a person re enter the US after divorce if they came on an H4 visa?

My friend is here on an H1 visa. He married a girl in their home country and brought her here on a H4 visa. They divorced in the US and she went home but now she wants to come back using her same visa. Will she be automatically denied entry? Does he need to inform someone of the divorce even though it was done in the US over a month ago? What is the usual procedure?

  • I believe I have bad wiring in my apartment and complex wont help me. Who can I call to get it fixed?

I have been in my Houston apartment since July of 2009. Last August I had my electric meter replaced by reliant because it was no longer reading my power usage. I don't know if it is related but around that time I would start losing power in my apartment. Everything goes out except my stove, my dryer and my fridge which may or may not be on the same circuit. Sometimes the power just dips and my smoke detector will hum and the numbers on my digital clock will glow as if its getting some power but not enough to run the appliance. My electric bill has been unusually high since last September. The complex has sent every maintenance person to check out the problem in my apartment and they call an electrician out. I have had 16 electricians in my home for this issue. They always find something to fix but they don't fix the problem. The second to last electrician noticed that all of my outlets and switches are melted on the inside and saw signs of fire damage. He recommended all of the wiring in my home be replaced and called the new owners of the complex. The new owners of the complex said they had no record of a fire ever happening in my apartment and they decided to call one more electrician who came through and said the melted sockets were nothing to worry about, completely ignoring the issue at hand. It has gotten to the point where my power will not stay on for more than one or two minutes at a time. I can't continue to live like this. Is there a city person or anyone I can call to check out my apartment and maybe fine the complex if they don't resolve the issue? I can't afford to move on my own and I need the complex to accept responsibility and help me. I don't want my apartment to catch fire and end up loosing everything. Any advice?

  • My first experience seasoning cast iron skillets. Keep getting a dark amber color?

I am coating my pans with Crisco and baking them at 425 for 90 min. The coating on my pans is a very dark amber color. Aren't they supposed to turn black? I am worried that the coating is going to soften if I try to cook in them and ruin whatever I'm cooking. What do I need to do? Is the coating fine the way it is or am I doing something wrong. I have done three cycles of this. Do I need to do it at a higher temp or should I bake them longer? What is happening here?

  • How can I get insurance with a pre-existing condition or get help paying the cost of the surgery?

My insurance plan expired on January 17th and I have a new plan now. The problem is that I have injured my ACL in both legs and my new insurance company will only cover one leg because they say the first leg was a pre-existing condition that they wont cover. The surgery will cost 30-40 thousand dollars out of pocket. I don't qualify for any government assistance but I still can't afford that. I have never been a part of a group plan and have only had consulting jobs to date. I am an otherwise healthy 27 year old who can barley walk. Please give me some advice.

  • Black ooze coming out of baked chicken wings?

I have tried baking chicken wings many time. Sometimes I marinate sometimes I season and sometimes I just throw on some salt and pepper. I usually buy the packaged bulk drumstricks from my local costco but I have tried wings and drumsticks from other grocers. When I bake them, a black ooze starts seeping out from the chicken wings. I find this very unappetizing. When I get chicken in a restaurant, it isn't seeping any ooze black or otherwise so whats going on here? I usually bake between 350-425 depending on the recipe. I even made an indian curry in a dutch oven using the dum method with drumsticks and had the same problem. I hate this ooze. I don't want to eat it or anything that it is coming out of. What is it? Why is it there? Is there anything I need to do to stop it?

  • I just made flan..... caramel questions?

So I just made flan. Custards and I get along great no problems there but this is the first time I have made a caramel. The instructions I was given were "bring 1/4 cup water and 3/4 cup sugar to boil and leave it until it turns a dark caramel color. Then pour it into your pan and coat the sides." I didn't feel this was very clear. I set the water and sugar to boil over medium heat but after more than 5 min there was no color change. I turned the heat on high and after about 3-4 min the color was nice and dark and i poured it into my pan and it coated just fine. My flan is in the oven now and while I was washing up I noticed the leftover caramel in my saucepan was like hard candy. Will is soften in the oven or have I messed up my dish? What happens to the caramel while the custard is cooking and what should I do next time to fix this if I did screw up?

  • 10 years ago I met a girl with a pet beetle covered in rhinestones. Does anyone remember these things?

I remember seeing them in a retail store for word stuff from around the world. They came in small wooden boxes and you had to feed them leaves and twigs. They were like black roaches with fake jewels glued to their backs. Does anyone remember seeing these? I can't find any info on the web about them. I just thought they were so odd.
