Anyone remember a kids tv show from the 70's called something like "Ogilvy"?
From what I recall, it was an egg which would turn into different things like fire engines and go to rescue people/animals in trouble? Have I just made this up? Or is this vaguely familiar to anyone else?

6 AnswersMedia & Journalism1 decade agoCan anyone recommend a good Network Attached Storage Device?
I'm wanting a NAS / FTP server for my home network. Does anyone know of one which would allow me to connect 2 usb printers or should I invest in 2 separate print servers in addition to a NAS?

4 AnswersMusic & Music Players1 decade agoIs it possible to write Excel macros in an alternate editor to the MS Visual Basic default editor?
Maybe it's jut me, but I can't stand the macro editor that comes with Excel (Office 2003/07). Obviously I could write macros in any other text editor and copy it across, but are there any other editors that could just replace the original? Does Visual Studio Express integrate with Excel?
2 AnswersProgramming & Design1 decade agoCan anyone suggest a good Ethernet Print Server?
I would like to attach 2 USB printers and 2 external USB hard disks to an ethernet print server, (not wireless), which will then connect by CAT 5 to a Linksys Router. Is this going to be possible and would I need a print server with 4 USB ports or will I be able to just plug in a cheap USB hub?
5 AnswersComputer Networking1 decade agoSpace-Time and the expanding universe - know anything about it?
As I understand it:
1) The red shift of distant galaxies implies that the universe is expanding.
2) Einstein described the universe as a structure called space-time where there were no differences between the dimensions of space and time.
Could it be that the expansion of space-time is what we perceive of as the passage of time?
This would imply that the universe isn’t growing in size, but just getting older. The red shift effect of galaxies would be because light left them in the distant past rather than because they were travelling away from us.
Obviously I’m out of my depth with the maths involved. Would any physicists out there be able to shed any light on this wild and unsubstantiated speculation?

For instance speeding motorists driving dangerously, or dog walkers not clearing their dog’s mess? ie. General suff that the police have long since stopped bothering with. I guess the legalities may be different depending on where you live.
12 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoEach one of us believes what we believe because of a number of extremely persuasive arguments...?
Christians, as I understand it, believe in God because of The Bible, Jesus, the world around them, beautiful rainbows, as well as countless other things which all build to a credible and highly convincing point of view.
The same can also be said about every other belief system…
“We believe in our god because we have faith that x, y and z are true.”
Science is refreshingly different. The x, y and z that science holds to be true are all open to rigorous debate. If during investigation, x is found to contradict the evidence, then x is thrown out or modified and the researcher is highly praised and held up with great esteem by their peers for advancing science.
Christians etc. on the other hand, appear to respect their peers more the more they stick like sheep to the rut of sacred dogma. Don’t they feel that they’re missing out on something extraordinary?
(I know it’s difficult but please try to refrain from swearing at me. I very much appreciate any thoughtful comments.)

32 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIs iLink (Firewire) better for connecting camcorders than USB?
When I connect my Sony mini DV camcorder directly to my TV, the images replayed are detailed and sharp. However, the same footage, when imported to my laptop and burned to a DVD and then played back on my TV, is of poorer quality and sharpness.
Does anybody know why this might be? I’ve used 2 different pieces of software to import the footage but both produce the same poor results.
I am connecting my camcorder to my laptop via a USB cable but could also connect them using an iLink Firewire cable. Does anyone know if this will improve the quality of the images.
If so – I’ll go and buy one.

I am interested to hear from people that truly believed in one particular faith, but who have subsequently chosen to live their lives by a different faith. What triggered it and what are the good things about your new faith?
36 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoJust supposing you Christians were right all along…?
…and god DID create the world, he created Adam and Eve and he sent his only son Jesus to save the world and he could hear your prayers etc etc…
Would it be a disappointment to you if, god revealed himself and turned out to be an alien with apparent god like powers, but which could all be explained without resorting to the paranormal and the supernatural?
55 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat tasks do we need consciousness for?
On the face of it, you'd think - well all tasks. But many tasks you can do whilst thinking about something else. Walking, riding a bike, doing the washing up, all examples requiring dexterity but essentially can all be done subconsciously. To put the question another way, will all tasks be able to be done by software in the future?
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoCan you recommend any Timetabling Software applications suitable for a large secondary school?
Our school has huge problems each year scheduling their timetable. We have 1800 students so it's no trivial thing.
If you have experience with timetabling at your school and can give good advice or alternatively know of products to steer clear of - I'd like to hear from you.

17 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoHow would populations of humans spread and interact if we lived on a "Flat Earth."?
We all know that the Earth is spherical, and there's only a finite surface area to populate. My question is completely theoretical. How would human civilisations cope in a landscape which was infinte in area. If you could travel in any direction and continue to find new continents and oceans no matter how far you travelled, what would be the effect?
